Chapter 325 Retribution

On the second floor, in Anthony and Calla's room, Calla's body was covered in bruises.

She was on her knees, begging at Anthony's feet like a dog. "Anthony, please, stop hitting me. If you keep going, I'll lose the baby."

Anthony's smile was twisted. "It's just a kid. Being in your womb is its bad luck! Besides, didn't you already kill our child once? If this one dies too, you won't care."

Calla's hair was a mess, and blood trickled from her mouth. She shook her head frantically. "No! Anthony! It wasn't me! It was Elizabeth! She killed our child! You should go after her!"

Anthony kicked her to the ground, his voice filled with disgust. "Michael and Elizabeth might not know the truth, but I do. I saw you take the abortion pills before Elizabeth showed up!"

Calla's eyes widened. "You knew all along?"

His eyes were cold. "Calla, you always thought I was an idiot, didn't you? You never cared about me or our child! You just used us for your own gain, lying to me! Now that you have nothing left, you want to stay by my side for protection, right?"

Calla struggled to get up. "No, Anthony. You know I care about you. Otherwise, why would I be with you?"

Anthony's lips curled into a sinister smile. He grabbed her chin roughly, forcing her to look up at him.

"If you hadn't mentioned it, I might have forgotten. You only came to me because Michael ignored you. You used me to fill your loneliness. To you, I'm just a secret lover! Your heart belongs to Michael! When have you ever respected me?"

With that, Anthony slapped her hard across the face.

Calla fell to the ground from the force of the blow.

Anthony grabbed her hair, yanking her head up. "Do you want to know how I found out you have nothing left? Your $2 billion was swallowed up by FutureTech Robotics Group! Michael fired you, and you pissed off the Silver King abroad. No one in the medical field, here or overseas, will hire you!"

"All your savings and properties are in your father's name! That playboy spent it all! You have nothing! You're just a pauper! No different from a beggar under a bridge! Only I can still give you a bite to eat. Otherwise, you'd starve to death!"

Calla's hands tried to pry his grip from her hair, but she cried out in pain. "Anthony, please, let go. Give me some dignity."

Anthony released her with a heavy shove, and she hit the floor hard.

Her forehead struck the ground with a thud. She began to cry softly. "Anthony, don't treat me like this."

It was all she could say now.

Anthony sneered. "You don't have to be a beggar. With your looks and figure, you could fetch a good price on the black market. I could tell the buyers about your skills in bed. They might even pay extra!"

Calla's eyes widened in terror. She shook her head violently. "No! No! Anthony, don't do this to me."

Anthony's voice was cold and menacing. "Calla, you love jumping into men's beds, don't you? First, you tried to get into Michael's bed. Then, you climbed into mine."

"You'll fit right in on the black market. The men there will keep you busy every night. Hell, they won't even care if it's day or night. They won't let you close your eyes. They'll keep you busy every moment."

Calla was exhausted from crying, trembling at Anthony's feet.

Anthony kicked her away in disgust. "You killed my grandmother and my child. I'll never forget that."

He stood up. "Did you never think you'd face retribution for all the evil you've done? Calla, your downfall is your karma!"

The door slammed shut as Anthony left.

Calla lay on the floor, feeling a strange sense of relief.

Her phone was still in the room. Anthony hadn't taken it because he knew she had no one to call for help.

Toby had long since been paid off by William to return to Valoria. He knew Calla was no longer his problem and didn't care about anything else.

In Celestria, she had no friends, only enemies. No one would help her.

Even if she called the police and they rescued her, she couldn't practice medicine anymore. She'd have to do menial jobs to survive, which would be a fate worse than death.

Staying with the Thomas family, despite Anthony's occasional drunken beatings, was still better. Most of the time, he was lenient with her.

At least she was still nominally Anthony's fiancée, with food and shelter.

She had thought about calling Michael to take her away, but she had deceived him about Eloise's surgery.

If he ever found out the truth, her fate might be worse than with Anthony.

Michael's reputation for brutality was well-known, even in Valoria.

The thought made her shiver. No matter what, she had to cling to Anthony.

Calla, who had once been so accomplished, had fallen so low.

Lying on the floor, her head heavy and aching, she drifted into unconsciousness.

In the middle of the night, Calla woke up from the cold. She heard a man and a woman talking in the guest room next door.

She recognized the man's voice as Anthony's. He used to speak to her in that gentle tone when they were close. She had foolishly believed he cherished her.

The woman's voice was familiar, but she couldn't place it.

She crept to the door and peeked through the crack.

Her left eye was swollen, so she had to squint with her right eye to see.

It was indeed Anthony. Even though he had his back to her, she could never mistake him. Moreover, this was the Thomas mansion, Anthony's home.

The woman was in his arms, playfully scolding him. "Anthony, stop. Aren't you afraid Calla will wake up and see us?"

Anthony looked unconcerned. "What can she do if she sees us? She knows you're the one I truly love."
