Chapter 328 Injured
Octavia watched her closely. "But Calla slapped Elizabeth so hard her face swelled up right away."
A smile finally broke across Margaret's face. "Even though it was just one slap, it's enough to stir things up. Octavia, our first move was solid. Now, it's up to Calla to see how she handles it."
Octavia stepped forward confidently. "Don't worry, I've got this."
Margaret nodded approvingly. "Good, I hope you won't let me down. This afternoon, STellar Enterprises is checking out the Murder Mystery venue. Mr. Thomas will be there. Octavia, you should go too. Stick close to him."
Octavia nodded. "Yes, Ms. Taylor."
Margaret frowned. "Call me 'Margaret.'"
Octavia looked a bit nervous. "Yes, Margaret."
Margaret's eyes flashed a warning. "Don't make that mistake again."
Octavia nodded. "Got it."
Meanwhile, Elizabeth finished her work and called Louis. "Louie, are you free today? I want to talk about a case I just took on."
Louis replied, "Sure, come over. I'm at home."
Elizabeth hesitated. "Louie, are you home alone?"
Louis thought about how his mom must have already contacted Elizabeth after his kidnapping. She might feel awkward about what to say if she saw his mom.
Louis quickly said, "Elizabeth, I'm heading out now. Meet me at Harmony Health Hospital, in my office."
Elizabeth agreed readily. "Okay."
She hadn't driven today and didn't tell Dean when she left the office, fearing he'd inform Daniel, and then Michael would find out.
She didn't want Michael knowing too much about her, especially regarding her surgeries.
She hailed a cab and headed straight to Harmony Health Hospital.
Louis looked over the case files Elizabeth brought. "Elizabeth, this case is very similar to Eloise's."
Elizabeth nodded. "Yeah, I thought so too. Not only that," she pointed to the patient's information, "Louie, look at this. The patient's age is the same as Eloise's."
She flipped to the patient's photo. "And even more incredible, look at this person's appearance. Doesn't it look like Eloise?"
Louis's eyes widened in disbelief when he saw the photo. "Oh my God! They look like twins!"
He glanced at the nationality. "But this person is from Valoria. They're not from the same country as Eloise."
Elizabeth said, "His family could have moved abroad."
Louis looked at her. "Elizabeth, do you think this person is related to Eloise?"
Elizabeth continued reading the file. "I'm just speculating. As doctors, we treat patients, not pry into their personal lives."
Louis nodded. "Right. When do you plan to start treatment?"
Elizabeth replied, "I need to make another trip to Valoria after I settle the kids. As soon as possible, considering my condition doesn't allow much delay."
Louis's tone softened. "Alright, Elizabeth. I'll go with you."
Elizabeth smiled at him. "That would be great. I could use the help. But Louie, I need you to keep this confidential. I don't want too many people knowing."
Louis smiled back. "No problem."
In the afternoon, at the construction site of STellar Enterprises' Murder Mystery project, Michael arrived with Daniel, who was carrying a stack of folders.
Michael glanced at Daniel. "Daniel, aren't you tired lugging all those files around?"
Daniel shook his head. "Not at all, Mr. Thomas. There are a lot of rooms and scenes here. I'm worried if you ask about something, I won't have the answer and will need to check the files."
Michael gave him a look. "You're not running this project. Why would I ask you? If I have questions, I'll ask the person in charge."
Daniel nodded, realizing his mistake. "That makes sense."
They entered the venue, where the person in charge was already waiting.
Michael didn't expect to see Octavia there. Her face reminded him of Elizabeth's, and he didn't like it.
To him, Elizabeth was one of a kind, and he didn't want anyone to replicate that uniqueness.
He asked offhandedly, "What are you doing here? Where's your cousin?"
Octavia was thrilled he spoke to her. "Mr. Thomas, she's at the office. I heard our company's Murder Mystery venue was completed, and I'm really interested, so I begged her to let me come and see."
Michael didn't look at her. "You like playing Murder Mystery?"
Octavia nodded eagerly, her smile sweet. "Mr. Thomas, honestly, I came here so that when I play with my friends, I can have an insider's perspective and easily solve the puzzles."
Her eyes stayed on Michael. "Mr. Thomas, don't worry. I promise not to reveal any secrets. It's just for my own fun."
Michael's gaze didn't linger on her for more than a couple of seconds. "Since you like it so much, once the inspection is done, you can stay here as an intern. No need to go back to the PR department."
Octavia was shocked and quickly waved her hands. "No, Mr. Thomas. I love playing Murder Mystery, but I don't want to work in a Murder Mystery setting. I haven't lived with Margaret for a long time. Working with her now makes me so happy!"
"Besides, I won't be in Celestria for long. Once my internship ends, my family will have me return to Valoria. Then, it'll be even harder to see Margaret."
Michael didn't want to force her. "Alright, as you wish."
Octavia happily moved closer to Michael, trying to link arms with him.
Michael coldly pulled his arm away. "What are you doing? Don't get too close to me."
His tone was icy and indifferent.
The sound made Octavia shiver involuntarily, and she quickly stepped back.
The person in charge stepped in to ease the awkwardness. "Mr. Thomas, shall we begin?"
Michael waved his hand. "Lead the way."
They started touring the venue. When they reached a cave, the stone plaque above the entrance wobbled and fell.
Michael was standing at the entrance, listening to the person in charge explain the mechanisms inside the cave.
Octavia didn't have time to warn Michael. She rushed over and tackled him to the side.
The plaque crashed to the ground with a loud bang.
Everyone was stunned, except Octavia.
Octavia lay on the ground, letting out a pained groan.
Michael was the first to react. He sat up and saw Octavia beside him, her arm covered in blood.
Michael asked urgently, "Octavia, are you okay?"
He shouted to the person in charge, "Call an ambulance, now!"
