Chapter 267 The Mysterious Guest

At Whispering Pines Estates, Elizabeth pushed the door open and walked in.

Dean could tell she was feeling really down. He walked up to her and asked, "Elizabeth, you're back already?"

Elizabeth didn't say a word. She just shook her head and headed to her room.

Dean was about to follow her and called out, "Elizabeth..."

Louis reached out to stop him and said, "Dean, let her be alone for a bit."

Dean pointed in the direction she left, lowering his voice. "Did Michael upset her again?"

Louis didn't get a chance to respond before Dean quickly corrected himself, "No, that can't be right. Michael should be unconscious right now."

Louis glanced in the direction Elizabeth had gone, his eyes filled with longing. He quickly looked away after a brief moment.

He pulled Dean aside and said, "Elizabeth got to the hospital but didn't go in. She didn't even get out of the car. We just came back."

Dean was surprised and asked, "She didn't go see him? Elizabeth actually held back this time?"

Louis nodded slightly and replied, "She probably wasn't ready and didn't know how to face Michael. Let's give her some time. Her mind must be a mess right now."

Dean said, "Alright. Whatever Elizabeth decides to do, I'll support her. Even if she ends up choosing to be with that jerk, I'll still respect her decision."

Louis nodded, his deep and pleasant voice resonating as he said, "Same here."

Dean tentatively said, "Louis, I want to ask you something, if I may..."

Louis quickly interrupted Dean, "If you think it's presumptuous, then don't ask."

Dean felt stifled and responded, "No, I have to ask."

Louis said, "You can ask, but I don't have to answer. I have no obligation to explain things to you."

Dean said, "But I still want to ask."

Louis had already turned and was walking toward the door.

Dean followed behind him, asking in a low voice, "Louis, do you like Elizabeth?"

Louis paused at the words. He stood straight, not turning back. After a moment of thought, he resolutely said, "Yes, I like Elizabeth. She's so good, so perfect. She's completely worth liking."

Dean said, "Louis, I'm not trying to make fun of you. I just want to advise you that Elizabeth's heart is probably only for Michael. No matter how cruel that man is to her, she seems unable to let him go. If you keep liking her, you might end up getting hurt."

Louis stood with his back to Dean. Dean couldn't see Louis's expression, but he saw Louis's body tremble slightly. The movement was so subtle and quickly disappeared that Dean wondered if he had imagined it.

Dean didn't know that Louis's expression had also stiffened for a moment. But Louis quickly returned to normal.

He stood there, looking out the window, and slowly said, "Dean, I've liked Elizabeth for many years. From when she was in Valoria, not long after she joined the lab, I already started liking her. But Elizabeth has no idea. I don't necessarily need her to respond. Liking her is my own business. I know I'll never be as important as Michael in her heart. When we returned to the country, I saw her entangled with Michael. Although I was disappointed, I wasn't particularly pained. I'll bury my love for her deep in my heart, just hoping she can be happy. I respect all her choices."

Hearing this, Dean felt a deep respect for Louis.

In this day and age, there were still people like Louis who loved so purely.

Louis didn't hesitate any longer and left. He didn't feel embarrassed about confessing his feelings for Elizabeth to Dean today.

On the contrary, he had been secretly in love with Elizabeth for so many years, always feeling like he was carrying a big secret.

Now, with someone to confide in, he no longer had to deliberately hide his admiring glances at her.

At Aurora Bay Hope Hospital, in the surgical ward, Michael had already woken up and was out of danger. He had been transferred out of the ICU and was now allowed visitors.

In the VIP ward, Clio was accompanying Eloise by Michael's bedside.

Michael looked at Eloise and asked, "Eloise, why are you here at the hospital instead of staying at home?"

He had been in a coma for a long time, without water or food, and his voice was hoarse when he spoke.

Eloise held his hand, wanting to use some strength but afraid of hurting his wound, so she just held it lightly.

Her face was tear-streaked, and she shook her head, looking at Michael. "Michael, I was so worried when I couldn't see you at home. Before, when you were in the ICU, the doctors and nurses wouldn't let me in to see you. I could only watch you from outside the glass. You were lying there, motionless. I was so scared. I was worried I might never see you again. Michael, don't leave me," Eloise spoke while crying softly.

Michael struggled to lift his right hand, gently wiping her tears, his tone soft. "Eloise, don't worry, I won't leave you. I'll always be with you. Don't cry."

Eloise raised her hand to wipe her tears and said, "Michael, I won't ask why you got hurt. But, even for my sake, don't put yourself in danger again, okay?"

Michael gave her a smile and responded, "Alright. I promise you."

He waved to Clio and said, "Clio, take Eloise home. Eloise doesn't like hospitals."

Eloise shook her head and said, "Michael, I want to stay here with you. Don't send me away. You're the most important person in my heart in this world. I have to stay by your side to feel at ease. If you send me away, I won't be able to eat or sleep. Would you still want to send me away then?"

Michael had to compromise. "Alright. But I was just worried you didn't like the hospital environment."

Eloise said, "Michael, let me stay with you. You're so weak now, and you don't have any family by your side. I'm afraid you'll feel lonely. I understand that feeling."

Hearing this, Michael was stunned.

Eloise was right. Mary had already passed away. Elizabeth had divorced him. William, much older than him, was always scheming for his property. There wasn't much brotherly affection between them.

Besides Eloise, he really didn't have any family left.

Thinking of this, he smiled at Eloise and said, "Thank you, Eloise."

But inside, Michael felt a huge emptiness. He wondered, was it because of the stab wound?

At Whispering Pines Estates, Sarah visited to give Elizabeth a wedding invitation.

Elizabeth took it and sincerely congratulated her, "Sarah, congratulations! You're finally marrying David."

Sarah replied, "Elizabeth, you'll come to my wedding, right?"

Elizabeth felt a bit troubled, but before she could speak, Sarah quickly said, "Don't worry, Michael is still recovering in the hospital, he definitely won't be attending."

Elizabeth nodded and said, "Then I'll definitely come! Sarah, I wouldn't want to miss your wedding."

They were chatting when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Sarah asked, "Elizabeth, do you have another guest?"

Elizabeth was puzzled and looked at the intercom.

On the monitor, a tall man with a good build was standing at the door. He was wearing a hat, sunglasses, and a mask, making it impossible to see his features.
