Chapter 370 Raid

The next day, Anthony showed up at the hospital with a bouquet of fresh flowers to visit Octavia.

"Hey, Octavia. You called yesterday and said you'd be discharged today, so I'm here to pick you up."

The swelling on Octavia's face had gone down, and her nose had been fixed with reconstructive surgery. Her face now looked just like Elizabeth's again.

She smiled and took the flowers from Anthony's hands. "Thanks, Anthony. You're always so good to me."

Anthony helped her out of bed. "The car's downstairs. Pack up your stuff, and I'll take you home."

Octavia looked a bit embarrassed. "I've been in the hospital for so long, I haven't dared to take a proper shower or put on makeup. Do I look terrible?"

Anthony smiled casually. "No worries. I'll take you to buy some new clothes and then to a beauty salon. Problem solved."

Octavia beamed. "Thanks, Anthony."

Anthony took care of the discharge paperwork and drove her straight to the women's clothing section of a nearby mall.

At the store, Anthony sat on a couch and waved his hand. "Help this lady pick out some nice clothes and shoes. Make sure they're beautiful!"

The store clerks immediately surrounded Octavia, helping her try on outfit after outfit.

Each time she tried something on, she asked for Anthony's opinion, and he always shook his head.

This time, Octavia tried on a pure white V-neck dress, looking like a pristine flower.

Anthony was stunned. He remembered Elizabeth wearing a similar dress.

He stared at Octavia, but his gaze seemed to go right through her, seeing someone else entirely.

He saw Elizabeth from seven years ago, a young girl in love, who only had eyes for him.

Her happiest moments were when she saw him, calling out his name, "Anthony, Anthony!"

He remembered taking her to a movie, and how it made her happy for days.

Octavia exclaimed, "Anthony, why are you crying?"

Anthony snapped back to reality, quickly wiping away his tears and forcing a smile. "Octavia, you look stunning in that dress. I was mesmerized."

Octavia looked down at the dress. "I feel like Elizabeth wore a similar dress."

Anthony stood up. "White dresses all look alike. Let's go with this one."

He handed his credit card to the cashier.

After leaving the clothing store, Anthony took Octavia to buy shoes and a handbag.

Octavia looked at the small purse in her hand. "Anthony, I think Elizabeth had this same purse."

Anthony frowned and scratched the back of his head. "Did she? I don't know. Aren't all you girls' purses pretty much the same?"

Octavia laughed at his puzzled expression and linked her arm with his. "Maybe I'm mistaken. Anthony, where are we going next?"

Anthony looked at her face. "Didn't you want to put on some makeup? I'll take you for a massage first, then we'll get your makeup done."

He added, "After that, we'll go eat something nice. You probably haven't had a good meal while you were in the hospital."

Octavia leaned against him. "Anthony, you're too good to me! How can someone be as wonderful as you?"

Anthony didn't respond. He let Octavia hang onto him as they walked slowly forward.

Octavia chattered away beside him, but he didn't hear a word.

His heart was heavy with regret. He remembered seven years ago, when he and Elizabeth were deeply in love.

Back then, he didn't dare tell his parents about their relationship because William wanted him to marry a wealthy heiress to benefit the family business.

To William, Elizabeth was just a discarded daughter of The Jones family, not worth mentioning.

But he had truly loved Elizabeth back then. He often snuck out to see her, surprising her with little gifts that always made her happy.

She used to say, "Anthony, why are you so good to me?"

She would tilt her head slightly, holding his hand and gently swaying it. "Anthony, I feel like the happiest person in the world. When will we get married?"

She was a top student, juggling a double major, yet she still made time for him.

But what did he do? Despite knowing how deeply she loved him, he got involved with her half-sister, Patricia.

He hid it from her and had countless affairs with Patricia.

He even handed her over to his uncle, Michael.

Anthony wanted to slap himself hard.

He was a jerk, betraying someone as wonderful as Elizabeth.

If they were still together, they would probably have several kids by now, living a simple, happy life. Instead, he was left alone, wallowing in his own mess.

He sighed softly. 'Forget it, let it be. My life is already ruined.'

He just hoped Elizabeth was doing well.

Doing this for her was his way of making amends for his past betrayal.

By six o'clock in the evening, Anthony and Octavia were seated in a restaurant.

Anthony had reserved the entire place. The small restaurant was dimly lit, with candles on the table. The waiter brought out dish after dish.

Octavia tilted her head and looked at him. "Anthony, I suddenly don't feel like eating this way."

Anthony was taken aback. "Why not?"

Octavia blinked and smiled. "Eating like this, I feel so far away from you. I don't like it."

Anthony smiled indulgently. "I thought it was something serious. Don't worry, after dinner, I'll take you to a movie. We can sit close together."

Octavia happily unfolded her napkin and started eating.

The smile slowly faded from Anthony's face. He picked up his phone and sent a location message to Margaret.

He watched Octavia happily eating across the table. He picked up his wine glass and silently said, 'I'm sorry.' He wasn't sure who he was apologizing to.

Then he downed the wine in one gulp.

At that moment, the restaurant's glass door suddenly chimed. Anthony put down his glass and looked in that direction.

A dark figure was rushing towards their table.

The person seemed to be holding a bottle.

Anthony jumped up. He wanted to stop the man, but it was too late.

The man threw the liquid from the bottle onto Octavia's flawless face.

Octavia screamed in agony.

Everything seemed to happen in an instant.
