Chapter 566 Assassination
Alfonso chuckled, "Michael, come on, even if Cordelia's not your type, you can't be into a waitress, right?"
Kirk chimed in, "Michael, get a grip! Gerald's got no son now, just Cordelia. When he's gone, the whole Murphy family is yours. Don't throw it all away over something small! Especially since Cordelia hasn't had a kid yet. You can't be reckless!"
Juan set his glass down, "Michael, is something bothering you?"
Michael glanced at him, then set his own glass down and headed towards the lounge.
If he wasn't mistaken, that waitress was Glenn's fiancée, Rowan.
This was the Murphy family's castle. How did Rowan get in?
That wasn't the main issue right now. What was she doing here?
She knew Gerald was the one who killed Glenn. Was she here to assassinate Gerald and avenge her fiancé?
Michael pushed through the crowd, making his way quickly to the lounge.
Zander, who had been by Cordelia's side, kept an eye on Michael. Seeing him head to the lounge, he felt a pang of worry, excused himself to Cordelia, and followed.
Michael forcefully pushed open the lounge door, thinking, 'I'm too late.'
Rowan was already on the ground, having been kicked by Gerald.
A knife was lodged in Gerald's chest. His eyes were wide with rage, one hand clutching the wound, the other pointing at Rowan on the floor, growling, "Who let her in?"
The guards at the door heard the commotion and rushed in.
Zander pulled Michael aside and hurried to Gerald's side, "Gerald! Are you okay?"
Gerald coughed up blood, struggling to breathe, "Zander, save me. This woman tried to kill me."
Michael barked, "Zander! Call an ambulance now! Mr. Murphy needs immediate medical attention!"
He ordered the guards, "Quick! Get Mr. Murphy to the front gate! Have the ambulance meet us there! Use the side door, avoid the main hall! Don't announce Mr. Murphy's condition yet!"
The guards obeyed, quickly wheeling Gerald towards the side door. Zander followed, frantically making the emergency call.
In the lounge, only Michael and Rowan remained.
When Rowan had entered the lounge, the guards thought she was bringing Gerald a drink and didn't stop her.
Gerald had been dozing in his wheelchair, completely unguarded.
Rowan, eyes filled with hatred, had pulled a knife from under the tray and aimed for Gerald's chest.
But Gerald had suddenly opened his eyes, startling her. Her hand shook, and the knife missed its mark.
Enraged, Gerald had kicked her to the ground. Now, Rowan lay there, clutching her chest in pain.
Michael stood beside her, extending a hand, "Ms. Blair."
Rowan looked up at him and took his hand to stand.
Michael's voice was low, "Ms. Blair, do you realize how dangerous this was? Gerald has so many guards. If you had killed him, do you think you could have left the castle alive?"
Rowan wiped the blood from her mouth, seething, "I didn't plan on leaving alive! That monster killed Glenn! I had to make him pay! I couldn't let Glenn die in vain! But I failed! I'm useless!"
Her face, a mix of sorrow and fierce determination, made Michael pause.
He wondered, if Gerald killed him one day, would Elizabeth risk her life to avenge him like Rowan?
He suddenly felt a pang of sympathy, "You've angered Gerald. He won't let you go."
Rowan, resigned to her fate, said, "I know! He'll kill me! But that's fine. Then I can be with Glenn."
She looked at Michael, "Mr. Thomas, I have a request. When I die, could you bury me with Glenn? We never got to have our wedding. I want to marry him in heaven, to make up for what he missed."
Michael's throat tightened, "Alright."
He took out his phone and called Juan.
In Valoria.
As soon as Louis parked the car, Elizabeth eagerly got out.
A servant opened the door for her. She rushed through the courtyard towards the main house.
Eloise and Quinn were already waiting at the door.
Eloise extended her hands as soon as she saw her, "Elizabeth, it's so good to see you again."
Eloise smiled, looking much healthier.
Elizabeth walked up the steps, gently holding her hands, "Eloise, you can finally stand. You look much better."
Eloise smiled, "Elizabeth, thank you for always thinking of me. I owe you so much. Thank you for finding my brother. Thank you for having Quinn save me. You're my savior."
Elizabeth blushed, "Eloise, stop. If you hadn't saved Francis, none of this would have happened. I should be thanking you for saving his life!"
Louis, having parked the car, walked over, "It's hot outside. You two shouldn't stand here thanking each other. Go inside and talk."
Elizabeth and Eloise smiled at each other and walked into the living room, sitting on the couch.
"Elizabeth, I heard you had surgery too. How are you now? Are you better?"
"Much better, it doesn't hurt anymore. Eloise, you've finally gained some weight. You looked so frail in the hospital."
Eloise looked down, embarrassed, "Sorry for worrying you."
Elizabeth suddenly thought of something, "Eloise, would you like to talk to your brother?"
Quinn looked up at them.
Elizabeth waved her hand, "I mean Michael."
Eloise's eyes lit up, "Yes! I haven't seen Michael in so long. I tried calling him, but his number was always disconnected."
Elizabeth opened her contacts and dialed Michael's number, connecting a video call.
"Eloise, Michael is in Majestic City now. He changed his number. I'll give you his new one."
Eloise nodded, "Great!"
The video call connected.
Michael's face appeared on the screen, "Elizabeth."
Elizabeth's smile vanished, "Michael, where are you? It looks like a hospital. Is someone sick?"
Michael glanced at Zander nearby, "Not sick. Gerald is injured. I'm here with him in the ER."
Elizabeth's eyes widened, "Injured? How did that happen?"
"Rowan stabbed him with a knife."
Elizabeth was shocked, "What about Rowan? Is she still alive?"
