Chapter 30 I'm Definitely not the Father
Michael didn't even give her a second look. "Elizabeth, you make me sick. Stay the hell away from me. Don't even think about messing with me, or I'll end you."
Elizabeth stopped begging. She knew Michael was beyond pissed. Nothing she said would get through to him.
She just stared out the window.
Hospital. Outside the gynecology operating room.
Elizabeth was being held up by bodyguards, about to step into the operating room.
She glanced back at Michael.
Her eyes were full of anger, despair, and a silent plea.
Michael didn't want to see her. He stormed out of the hospital and got into his car.
No matter how pathetic she looked, he wasn't gonna forgive her.
He despised betrayal more than anything.
The operating room door slowly closed.
An hour later, it opened again.
The bodyguards stepped forward.
The doctor took off his mask. "The surgery's done. She needs to be observed for an hour. If everything's cool, she can leave."
The bodyguards left right after hearing that.
Michael's orders were clear: make sure Elizabeth had the abortion.
In the post-op observation room.
Elizabeth called Nancy.
Nancy rushed in.
She saw Elizabeth lying there, helpless, and tears started streaming down her face. "Elizabeth, you've been through hell. Come home with me."
Elizabeth nodded weakly.
They left the hospital.
Elizabeth's face was blank.
They grabbed a cab and took off.
Michael watched them leave. He told his driver to take him back to the Thomas Family Mansion.
The Thomas Family Mansion.
Michael told the bodyguard, "Go get Anthony. We need to have a chat."
The bodyguard made the call.
Soon, Anthony showed up in the living room.
As soon as he saw Michael on the couch, his legs started shaking.
Anthony tried to keep it together and walked forward. "Michael, you wanted to see me?"
Before he could get close, the bodyguard kicked him in the back of the knees, and he hit the ground hard.
Anthony was stunned.
He looked at Michael, panicked. "Michael, what did I do? Please, tell me."
Michael sat on the couch, looking at him like he was already dead. "Do I really need to spell it out?"
Anthony knew he'd messed up a lot. But he'd been laying low lately. He had no clue what had set Michael off this time.
Anthony cautiously asked, "Michael, give me a hint. What did I do this time?"
Michael stared at him and said slowly, "The kid in Elizabeth's womb was yours. I had it aborted."
Anthony crawled over and grabbed Michael's leg. "Michael, you've got it wrong. My kid could be in any woman's womb, but not Elizabeth's."
Michael frowned, confused.
Anthony quickly explained, "Michael, you don't get it. Elizabeth's a prude. I was with her for three years, and she wouldn't even let me hug her, let alone sleep with her. That's why I dumped her. Who'd want to be with a woman like that?"
Michael stared at him, trying to figure out if he was telling the truth.
Anthony got all jittery. "Michael, you gotta believe me this time. There's no way that kid's mine. Isn't she carrying your baby?"
Michael's eyebrows knitted together.
He suddenly remembered what Elizabeth had said that morning.
He felt a wave of irritation.
The thought of Elizabeth being with a jerk like Anthony for three years made him want to punch something.
He signaled to the bodyguard, "Take him away and rough him up, but don't kill him."
Anthony's screams echoed from the warehouse.
Michael frowned, rubbed his temples, and walked away.
Elizabeth and her mom got back to their rented place.
Nancy settled Elizabeth on the bed.
She went to the kitchen to get Elizabeth some water.
She brought it to the bedside. "Elizabeth, you need to rest up after an abortion. Don't cry; it'll mess up your eyes. Here, drink this milk."
Elizabeth took the milk, drank it up, and gently put the glass on the bedside table.
She looked at Nancy and spoke softly, "Mom, the surgery didn't happen. The doctor helped me. She tricked Michael."
Nancy was shocked. "The doctor actually helped you?"
Elizabeth nodded gently. "Yeah. I threatened her. Told her if anything happened to my babies, I'd ruin her career."
Elizabeth gently touched her belly.
She'd dodged a bullet this time. She was lucky.
But she was scared Michael might come back to the hospital to check.
She needed to find a way to divorce Michael ASAP.
The longer she stayed with him, the more danger she and her babies were in.
She thought about it, her fingers twisting together.
The phone suddenly rang.
Elizabeth answered.
It was Charles.
He asked, "Elizabeth, where'd you go last night? Mr. F and I were waiting for you."
"Mr. Wilson, I went to the wrong room last night. I'm sorry."
"Oh, I see. Last night, I wanted to call you over, but Mr. F kept chatting with me. So, I didn't call. Are you okay? Nothing happened, right?"
"I'm fine. Did you meet Mr. F? How'd the investment talk go?" Elizabeth asked.
"Mr. F's real name is David Franklin. We had a good chat last night. He said he'd consider the investment. By the way, Elizabeth, did he call you?"
"No," she answered.
"Oh, I've already invited him to come to The Jones Group for a visit."
"Okay."
Elizabeth hung up the phone, deep in thought.
She had a feeling this mysterious Mr. F was somehow connected to Michael.
Otherwise, how could it be such a coincidence?
The rooms they booked were on the same floor.
Michael's bodyguards showed up just as she appeared and stopped her.
When Charles wanted to call her, David stopped him.
The more she thought about it, the more it felt like a setup.
Elizabeth thought again, so what if it was a trap?
In Aurora Bay, who could outsmart Michael?
Elizabeth was lost in thought.
Nancy looked at her with concern. "Elizabeth, Why did Micheal want you to get abortion if he's the father?"
Elizabeth lowered her head. "Michael doesn't like kids. And he's got a woman he loves."
