Chapter 280 I Am Your Aunt
Dean's hand shook, and the seashells he was holding scattered across the beach.
Seeing this, Daniel grabbed his arm and said, "Hey, don't freak out. I just said it's possible. Elizabeth might not even be pregnant. It could be something else, like a diet."
Dean shook his head, still in shock. "No way. Elizabeth never diets."
He glanced at the chair where Elizabeth had been sitting, now empty.
Daniel added, "Michael is missing too."
Dean started striding towards the villa and said, "I'm going to find her. Your jerk of a boss is always bullying her!"
Daniel quickly held him back, wrapping his arms around him from behind and whispering in his ear, "Sarah just called her. She should be back in her room. The wedding is tomorrow. Michael won't do anything stupid."
Dean looked at him disdainfully and said "He has done plenty of stupid things."
Hearing this, Daniel lowered his head, looking guilty.
Dean turned back and said, "I'm calling Elizabeth."
He then pulled out his phone and unlocked it.
Meanwhile, Eloise was walking beside Nolan. "Nolan, I need to tell you something," she said.
Nolan, curious about her serious expression, asked, "What is it?"
Eloise looked around to make sure no one was paying attention. She leaned closer and whispered in his ear, "I'm your aunt."
Nolan immediately stepped back and asked, "What nonsense are you talking about?"
Seeing this, Eloise moved closer again, speaking softly, "Nolan, I'm serious. You're Michael's son, and I'm Michael's sister. You're my nephew. I'm your aunt."
Nolan's eyes widened. "I don't believe you. You're making this up!" he shouted.
Yet Eloise insisted, "It's true. I asked Michael. His mom is my mom."
At that time, Sarah returned to her room and turned on the light, seeing Elizabeth lying on the bed.
Elizabeth covered her eyes and said, "It's too bright."
Hearing this, Sarah quickly turned off the light and walked to the bed. "Elizabeth, why aren't you downstairs? Are you tired?" she asked.
Elizabeth sat up and leaned against Sarah. "A bit exhausted," she murmured.
Sarah rested her head on Elizabeth's shoulder. "Alright. Just rest. I'll stay with you."
Elizabeth sighed, "Sarah, I'm so sorry. I got pregnant at the worst time. I can't drink with you."
Sarah chuckled, "Why are you worrying about that? Tell me, did that jerk Michael bother you tonight?"
Elizabeth lowered her head and decided to tell Sarah, "I just came from his room."
Sarah's anger flared. "That jerk!" she spat.
She started to get up, but Elizabeth pulled her back and said, "Sarah, he didn't do anything to me. He just kissed me."
Sarah fumed, "I don't understand Michael. He has Calla and Eloise, but he still messes with you."
The mention of Eloise sent Elizabeth's spirits plummeting. Calla and Michael's breakup felt insignificant; Michael had never truly cared for Calla, their relationship a mere convenience despite the child they shared.
Eloise, however, was different. The weight of her existence pressed heavily on Michael's heart.
He would give up his life for her.
Yet, Elizabeth couldn't bring herself to hate Eloise.
Eloise was so pure, almost angelic, and had never intentionally caused harm. Elizabeth found herself unable to justify any animosity towards her.
That night, Elizabeth and Sarah stayed up late talking.
Eventually, Elizabeth couldn't stay awake anymore. She yawned, "Sarah, let's get some sleep. You have to get up early for makeup tomorrow."
Sarah, however, wasn't tired at all. She was daydreaming about her life with David after the wedding.
The next day at noon, the wedding ceremony took place.
The pastor announced the exchange of rings.
David kissed Sarah, and the crowd erupted in cheers. The newlyweds beamed at each other, radiating happiness.
Elizabeth watched from the audience, tears welling up as she saw her best friend finally find happiness.
From a distance, Michael watched her quietly.
Why was she crying and laughing?
Was she remembering their wedding?
It was a pity that he was unconscious back then, leaving her alone at their wedding ceremony.
She must have been under a lot of pressure back then.
That wedding probably brought her no joy.
Michael found himself wondering if there would ever be a day when he could give Elizabeth a grand wedding.
Would she agree to marry him again?
Did she still have feelings for him?
After the ceremony, Sarah and David invited the guests to lunch.
Eloise approached Pearl and Nolan.
Seeing Eloise, Pearl whispered, "Eloise, can you go out freely now? Did that jerk finally let you?"
Eloise took a moment to realize Pearl was referring to Michael.
She nodded and explained, "Michael didn't restrict me. I just didn't want to go out before. I don't know many people besides the Thomas family and you guys."
Yet Nolan pretended she didn't exist, focusing on his food.
Michael walked over and called out, "Eloise."
Eloise, eating cake, saw him and immediately ran to him. "Michael."
She threw herself into his arms.
Michael took her hand, nodded slightly to Pearl and Nolan, and walked away.
Pearl turned her head and huffed in annoyance while Nolan continued eating.
Elizabeth sat at the table with Dean beside her.
She watched Michael and Eloise from afar, their intimate behavior making her heart ache.
What was she hoping for? Even if he showed her affection, it was all fake.
He only had a possessive desire for her, treating her like an object to play with when he wanted and discard when he didn't.
But he wouldn't let anyone else have her.
She thought bitterly, 'To Michael, I am his trash, and no one else has the right to sort me out.'
Dean looked at her and said, "Elizabeth, you seem upset. Are you sad because Sarah got married? Don't worry. You're still her number one."
Elizabeth absentmindedly poked at her empty plate with a fork and replied, "I know."
Dean placed a piece of cake in front of her and said, "Elizabeth, you haven't eaten anything today. Have some cake. It's your favorite flavor."
Elizabeth was lost in thought, but the sight of the cake, with its bright red strawberries, was tempting.
Dean thought, 'You haven't eaten anything else, but you can't resist this strawberry cake, right?'
But as soon as Elizabeth smelled the cream, she felt nauseous and quickly ran to the bathroom.
Seeing this, Dean sat there, stunned.
Could Daniel be right?
Was Elizabeth really pregnant?
