Chapter 299 Want to Eat You the Most
Elizabeth whispered, "I don't know either. I have no idea who sent this to me. Maybe someone just couldn't keep it to themselves anymore."
Sarah glanced around; Michael wasn't there.
"Elizabeth, do you think Michael knows about this? Calla just broke up with him not long ago, right? And now she's already with Anthony? It looks like they've been together for a while. This isn't something recent."
Elizabeth nodded, "Yeah, I think so too."
She remembered the surveillance footage she had seen of the two.
Sarah urged, "Elizabeth, you should tell Michael. Let him know what's going on and make him uncomfortable."
Elizabeth hesitated, "Sarah, don't you think it's strange? Calla was so into Michael. How could she just let go like that? So easily?"
Sarah speculated, "Maybe it's because Michael wasn't interested in her? And Anthony was all over her? So after the breakup, she quickly fell into Anthony's arms."
Elizabeth frowned, "Michael wasn't interested in her? Then where did the baby in her belly come from? If he didn't sleep with her, how did she get pregnant?"
Sarah took a bite of her barbecue, "That just shows how potent Michael is. Just one time, and Calla, who has trouble conceiving, got pregnant. Can you believe it?"
Elizabeth was shocked, "What do you mean, one time?"
Sarah explained, "Elizabeth, you didn't know? Michael and Calla only slept together once. It was that night I got you male models at Sky Entertainment Club."
Elizabeth's heart pounded. Something was off.
She grabbed Sarah's hand, speaking quickly, "Sarah, are you sure? Calla told me Michael often slept with her."
Sarah scoffed, "You believe her? Don't! She lives at Moonlit Grove, and Michael stays at the Thomas mansion. They hardly see each other. How could they be sleeping together? Plus, I've heard from Matthew and David that Michael has a thing about emotional purity. He wouldn't even let Calla touch him when he's sober, let alone sleep with her."
Elizabeth was stunned, "Michael wouldn't let Calla touch him?"
Sarah nodded, "Apparently, that night Michael was drunk and mistook her for you. I'm not trying to make excuses for him, but that's the truth. Michael doesn't remember anything from that night."
Elizabeth was in shock.
The person Michael slept with that night at Sky Entertainment Club wasn't Calla, it was her.
He had drunk a lot and cried in front of her. She felt sorry for him and made love with him.
When she left, she ran into Calla waiting outside. Calla warned her not to tell Michael.
So, Calla had pretended to be her.
After Michael slept with her, he was exhausted and fell into a deep sleep. He didn't have the energy for a second round with Calla.
Elizabeth realized that the baby in Calla's belly wasn't Michael's at all!
Calla had tricked him into thinking the baby was his. And she couldn't let that baby be born.
So, Calla framed Elizabeth, making Michael think that it was Elizabeth who caused the baby's death!
Elizabeth had figured it all out.
Michael had never been with Calla from the start.
She suddenly didn't understand the point of all her pain and jealousy.
She had thought that while Michael was dating Calla, he was also flirting with her. That was why she hated his casual attitude towards relationships.
She remembered the time in the hospital when he questioned her, and she angrily said they were done. He also said they would never see each other again.
All this time, she had misunderstood him.
What about Eloise? Was that also a misunderstanding?
But why didn't he explain? Didn't he know she was sensitive and selfish, wanting him all to herself?
As for Calla, who had schemed against her and falsely accused her of killing her unborn child, Elizabeth would make sure Calla knew she wasn't to be messed with!
At some point, Michael had joined them in the yard, helping Eloise put pieces of barbecue on her plate.
He gently told Eloise, "Be careful, it's hot. Wait a bit before eating."
He seemed to sense Elizabeth's gaze. He smiled at her and then walked over.
Elizabeth wondered why he always seemed so natural and close with Eloise, even when she was around. It was as if it didn't matter if she saw them together.
Who exactly was Eloise to him?
As she pondered, Michael sat down next to her. "What are you thinking about? The meat's getting cold. Why haven't you eaten much? Waiting for the chefs' special dish?"
Elizabeth looked at him, her eyes filling with tears.
Michael panicked at the sight. He pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and gently wiped her tears. "What's wrong? Who upset you?"
Elizabeth didn't care about the others watching. She held his hand, "Is there a dish you really love? I'll ask the chefs to make it. If we don't have the ingredients, we can still go buy them. The supermarket is close by, just a few minutes away."
Michael thought something must be wrong. She wouldn't act so strangely otherwise.
He stood up and pulled her up too, heading towards the kitchen. "Let me think about it. Let's see what the chefs are preparing first."
As they approached the kitchen, Michael pulled her aside.
He pinned her between the staircase and his body. "Elizabeth, what's going on?"
Elizabeth shook her head, tears streaming down her face.
How could she tell him? That his ex-girlfriend and his nephew had been together behind his back for a long time. That the baby in Calla's belly was probably Anthony's, not his.
Should she really say it and shatter his dignity?
She was in agony, unsure how to tell him.
Michael's heart ached seeing her like this. "Elizabeth, don't bite your lip. It'll hurt. Didn't you ask what I want to eat the most?"
Elizabeth nodded, "Yes, have you thought of it? Your favorite food."
Michael smiled, "I have."
Elizabeth asked, "What is it? I'll tell the chef."
As she turned to go to the kitchen, Michael pulled her back, "No need to bother the chef for this."
Elizabeth looked at him, confused and still feeling guilty, "What? Why not?"
He gazed deeply into her eyes, "You already know what I love to eat the most."
She felt even more guilty, realizing she didn't know his favorite food despite knowing him for so long. And yet, she often resented him in her heart for not being sincere enough with her.
He lifted her chin and gently kissed her lips, then whispered in her ear. "My favorite thing to eat has always been you."
