Chapter 391 Eloise, Don't Push Me!
Louis clutched his head in agony. "Eloise, don't push me! Doing that could cost you your life!"
Eloise stood up, walked over, and gently cradled his head. "Louis, it won't. It's just donating blood. I'll eat more nutritious food to recover."
"I'm an adult; losing a pint of blood won't harm me. But Francis is different. He's so young, and he can't wait for a blood donor. He'll die."
She lifted Louis' head to look him in the eyes. "Louis, look at me and answer honestly. Do you like me?"
Louis, seemingly entranced by her gaze, nodded. "Yeah, I do."
Eloise's eyes sparkled like stars as she smiled. "See, you like me. So, I want to marry you. You have to agree!"
She continued, "Let's go register our marriage today and have a priest witness our love. How about it?"
Louis' face twisted in pain. "No, Eloise. I'm not good enough for you. You're amazing, but my heart is full of darkness."
Eloise shook her head. "Don't talk like that. Louis, you're one of the best men I've ever met, second only to Michael. You're the one I want to marry. If possible, I'd love to have children with you."
"Louis, let's go donate blood now, okay? You can draw my blood yourself; I won't be scared."
Louis held his head, his voice hoarse. "Eloise, don't force me."
"Louis, I am forcing you. If you don't agree to draw my blood, I'll call Michael right now. He'll hold you responsible, and your reputation will be ruined. Elizabeth will never respect you again."
Louis' eyes were filled with torment. "Eloise, you..."
At the hospital.
Michael's phone rang. When he answered, his eyes were full of hope.
After hanging up, he hesitated before telling Elizabeth he needed to go to the outskirts of town and would be back in about three hours.
Elizabeth didn't ask what it was about. After all, he was always busy with something.
Daniel accompanied him as they left.
Elizabeth remained outside the ICU.
Around noon, Michael returned, looking exhausted but carrying half a pint of fresh blood.
He handed the blood transport box to the doctor before returning to Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth, I'm back."
Elizabeth looked at him, puzzled. "Did you fall? Why are you covered in mud?"
She turned to Daniel. "Mr. Taylor, please take him to change and rest."
Daniel handed over a paper bag. "Ms. Jones, Mr. Thomas' clothes are in here. Could you help him change?"
Before Elizabeth could react, Michael grabbed the bag. "I can do it myself."
He walked into the nearby lounge.
Elizabeth watched him close the door, then quickly pulled Daniel aside. "What happened? Why is Michael so disheveled? How did his clothes get so dirty?"
Daniel looked down. "The blood donor lives on a mountain. The road was winding, and the car couldn't go up. Mr. Thomas and I walked. The weather was bad, raining and windy, and the umbrella was useless."
He added, "The donor initially refused to donate blood, no matter how much money Mr. Thomas offered. Eventually, Mr. Thomas begged him to save his child. That's when he agreed."
Elizabeth stood there, stunned. She couldn't imagine the always-proud Michael actually begging someone for Francis' sake.
She had thought he would use force if someone didn't follow his orders.
Daniel spoke softly. "Mr. Thomas said he didn't want Francis to bear a bad reputation because of him."
He truly loved Francis.
Maybe he was under more pressure than she knew, in ways she couldn't see.
After the doctor administered the blood to Francis, his condition improved significantly.
"Mr. Thomas, Ms. Jones, it seems the blood transfusion is helping Francis. If we can get more blood, he will be out of danger."
Michael's phone rang again. It was Eloise.
His face softened instantly. "Eloise, are you home?"
"No, Michael. How is Francis?"
"We just gave him half a pint of blood. The doctor says he's much better."
"You found blood? That's great."
"Yes. The donor was a bit old, so he couldn't give much."
"How much more do you need?"
"At least another half pint. Eloise, you don't need to worry about this. I'll handle it."
"Michael, I'm Francis' aunt. How can I not care? Louis and I are on our way to donate blood. Louis has contacted a willing donor. We're almost there, so I'll hang up now."
Hearing this, Michael felt a surge of hope. But he didn't want to tell Elizabeth until it was confirmed, to avoid getting her hopes up.
Before donating, the donor's blood had to be tested to ensure it met the standards.
He could only wait for Louis' update.
A few hours later, the city blood bank staff called Michael, informing him they had another half pint of fresh blood ready for pickup.
He immediately shared the good news with Elizabeth.
Elizabeth could hardly believe they had gathered enough blood so quickly.
She urged Michael, "Go quickly. Make sure to thank those generous donors."
Michael looked at her tenderly. "Of course. You stay here and wait for me. Francis is going to be okay."
After Michael left, Elizabeth sat on a bench, hands clasped, thanking the heavens and the kind donors.
The ICU received the half pint of blood and administered it to Francis immediately.
Seeing Michael's exhausted face, Elizabeth felt a pang of sympathy.
"You've been running around so much these past few days. You should rest at a nearby hotel. I'll stay with Francis. If there's any problem, I'll call you."
Michael thought for a moment and accepted her suggestion.
A bodyguard accompanied him as he left the hospital.
Elizabeth sat by the monitor, watching Francis in the incubator.
Michael had just returned to his hotel room when he received a call from the police.
The investigation results were in. The real sender of the package was Jennifer.
The police had tracked down the sender through the package information.
Initially, the person denied everything, but when shown the surveillance footage from the shipping station, he confessed.
Jennifer had paid him a large sum to send the package.
Michael left the hotel and headed straight for FutureTech Robotics Group.
Jennifer had already heard that Michael had evidence against her.
The receptionist called her. "Ms. Johnson, Mr. Thomas from STellar Enterprises is here with a lot of people. I couldn't stop them."
Jennifer immediately dialed the internal line, her voice trembling. "Get all security personnel to the CEO's office on the top floor, now! Hurry!"
