Chapter 197 Don't Make Me Hate You for a Lifetime

Michael leaned in, his voice dripping with sarcasm, "Elizabeth, you're still the same, never learning. Guess I need to show you what happens when you meet a strange guy alone in a room like this!"

He moved closer and bit down hard on her shoulder.

Elizabeth yelped in pain. "Michael! You bit me? You're nuts!"

He glared at her, breathing heavily, eyes bloodshot, like he wanted to devour her. "Elizabeth, if I ever lose it, it'll be because you drove me there!"

Michael's grip was rough as he squeezed her tight. His lips crashed onto hers, no gentleness, no pity.

Elizabeth bit him back, tasting blood.

Michael pulled back, his lips smeared with fresh blood.

He looked like a demon straight out of hell.

Elizabeth stared at him coldly, tears streaming down her face, but she didn't back down. "Michael! We're divorced! We have no ties anymore! You have Eloise! You have Calla! Leave me alone! If you keep messing with my life, I'll disappear for good!"

Her words hit Michael like a punch to the gut.

Why did it hurt so much to hear her say she'd leave?

Just like four years ago, when she vanished without a word. He pretended it didn't bother him.

But every break at work, every quiet night, he couldn't stop thinking about her.

He missed her smile, her soft touch.

Countless times he dreamed of holding her again.

She'd never know the emptiness he felt all those years she was gone.

Michael gently wiped away her tears with his thumb.

He calmed down, turned around, and started unbuttoning his shirt.

Elizabeth looked at him, horrified. "Michael, what are you doing? Think carefully! Don't make me hate you forever!"

Michael didn't say a word. He took off his shirt, revealing his strong upper body.

He pulled Elizabeth up from the sofa and draped the shirt over her.

Elizabeth stared at him, stunned.

After helping her get dressed, Michael said hoarsely, "Alright. This will do for now. Call the women's clothing store and get them to send over an outfit."

With that, he turned and walked out of the room.

Michael left the hotel shirtless.

Elizabeth sat on the sofa in his shirt, still in shock.

His familiar scent surrounded her, leaving her unsure of what to do.

She hugged herself, burying her head in her arms.

So conflicted. She thought, 'Michael, I have to push you away. Because every time I see you, my feelings for you grow stronger. But you already have a girlfriend. Even if I came back, you wouldn't cherish me.'

Elizabeth wiped her tears with her sleeve and stood up. She couldn't let herself get tangled up with him anymore; being around him always led to trouble. She needed to stay far away from him. She also had to think about the kids. She couldn't just think about herself.

She walked over to the dining table, grabbed her purse, and left the room. Her phone buzzed in her purse, ringing persistently. She stopped, pulled it out, and answered the call.

Dean immediately picked up on her mood. "Elizabeth, what's wrong? Did the deal fall through?"

Elizabeth replied, "Yes."

Dean's voice was calm. "If it didn't go through, it's no big deal. It's not like this is the only distributor in the country. Besides, I never liked that CEO anyway. Come back! Let's have lunch together!"

Elizabeth said, "Okay."

Dean sounded worried. "Elizabeth, did something else happen? You don't sound right. I'll come get you! Where are you? Still at the hotel?"

Elizabeth replied, "I just left the room."

Dean said, "Wait in the hotel lobby for me. I'll be right there! Don't go anywhere!"

Elizabeth said, "Okay."

She hung up, put her phone back in her purse, and took the elevator to the lobby. She sat there, waiting for Dean. Soon, he arrived.

He rushed in and grabbed her, looking her over worriedly. "Elizabeth, have you been crying? Did he bully you? Wait here! I'll go find him!"

He angrily started towards the stairs.

Elizabeth quickly grabbed him. "No. He didn't succeed."

Dean looked at her clothes. "Where's your top? Whose shirt is this?"

Elizabeth stayed silent.

Dean frowned. "Michael's?"

Elizabeth lowered her head, confirming it.

Dean couldn't believe it. "That old guy didn't do anything to you, but Michael, that jerk, did something to you?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "He didn't do much, just tore my clothes."

Dean asked, "How did you run into him?"

Elizabeth said, "I don't know. Just as Tanner was about to make a move on me, he barged in and kicked Tanner down."

Dean was furious. "That damn Tanner, he actually dared to take advantage of you? Which hand did he use? I'll go chop it off!"

Elizabeth pulled him back. "Dean. I'm tired. Let's go back."

Dean stepped forward and hugged her. "Elizabeth. Don't be sad."

He took her hand. "You must be hungry. Come on, let's get something good to eat. Then we'll buy you a new outfit."

Elizabeth smiled at him. "Okay."

At Stellar Enterprises, Daniel received a package. He opened it and saw it was Michael's shirt. When Michael came back in the afternoon, he was wearing a shirt Daniel had never seen before.

Daniel thought, 'A new purchase? Didn't Michael go to see Elizabeth at noon? How did he end up buying a new shirt?'
