Chapter 321 A Discarded Piece

Calla stumbled back to her apartment, feeling utterly defeated.

She grabbed a bottle of wine, not even bothering with a glass, and drank straight from it. The alcohol quickly took effect, and she collapsed into a deep sleep.

'This has to be a nightmare,' she thought. 'When I wake up, everything will start over again.'

When Anthony returned, he found her passed out on the bed. The room reeked of alcohol, making him feel nauseous.

He frowned in disgust and closed Calla's bedroom door.

He regretted his past actions more and more. How had he ever thought Calla was gentle and graceful? Was he blind, or was she just that good at pretending?

This vile woman had even forced him to harm his own grandmother. Now, he couldn't go home and was stuck in this shabby little apartment, working odd jobs to get by.

Back then, he had been a wealthy member of high society, never worrying about money. His parents gave him more allowance than he could spend each month. He was always surrounded by beautiful women.

Thinking about this made Anthony hate Calla even more. His current miserable state was all her fault!

What he had lost was gone forever, but he wouldn't let Calla live happily either.

Meanwhile, news of Silver King's recovery spread through Valoria, and many people began to wonder which doctor had the skill and courage to treat the famous Silver King successfully.

Elizabeth had returned to Whispering Pines Estates.

Before coming back, she had contacted Dean to let him know she was returning.

Dean was surprised at how smoothly everything had gone. He had stopped hacking the castle's systems long ago and immediately booked a flight, returning overnight.

They reunited at the villa. Dean looked Elizabeth up and down. "You haven't lost weight; you've even gained some!"

Elizabeth smiled. "Silver King's food was pretty good, and my appetite improved."

Dean sighed in relief. "I worried for nothing. I thought you'd be scared and unable to eat or sleep there alone. But this is better, for the sake of the baby."

Pearl and Nolan ran to Elizabeth, throwing themselves into her arms, crying and clinging to her.

After comforting them, Elizabeth turned to Sarah. "Sarah, thank you for everything during this time."

Sarah gently punched her shoulder. "Elizabeth, no need to be so formal with me. But you, being alone abroad, couldn't you have called to let me know you were safe? I worried about you every day. Do you realize that?"

Tears welled up in her eyes.

Elizabeth hugged her. "I'm sorry, Sarah, for making you worry."

Sarah wiped her tears. "Eloise often came to help, and Pearl and Nolan really like her. I wasn't tired, just worried about you."

Louis had been discharged from the hospital. When he heard Elizabeth was back, he came to visit immediately.

Elizabeth looked at him apologetically. "Louie, I didn't visit you in the hospital, and now you're here to see me first. I'm sorry for dragging you into this."

Louis, as gentle as ever, said, "Elizabeth, it's not your fault. I was Ms. Johnson's assistant, and that can't be changed. Don't take everything on yourself. Just focus on your pregnancy and don't worry about anything else. By the way, I heard Silver King's surgery was a success. Congratulations, Elizabeth, you're always so outstanding."

Elizabeth lowered her head. "Thanks to Ms. Johnson. She had done a similar surgery before, and I was her assistant then."

Louis looked concerned. "Did Silver King threaten you?"

Elizabeth shook her head. "No, he didn't. Now that the surgery is successful, he said I'm his friend and can ask for his help if I ever need it."

Louis relaxed. "That's good."

Elizabeth glanced at Louis's right hand, hesitating.

Louis raised his right hand. "Elizabeth, don't blame yourself. My hand is fine. No one can tell there's anything wrong with it. Thanks to you for sending my severed finger."

Elizabeth couldn't hold back her tears. "Louie, I'm so sorry. It's my fault you can't perform surgery anymore."

Louis comforted her. "Elizabeth, I don't have to be a doctor. I can still make a lot of money by taking over my grandfather's company."

Elizabeth shook her head, tears streaming down. "Louie, I owe you. If you ever need anything, just tell me."

Louis smiled gently. "I do have one thing I need you to do."

Elizabeth looked serious. "What is it? Tell me, and I'll do it."

Louis looked at her warmly. "Elizabeth, promise me you'll forget all the unpleasant things and live happily every day."

Elizabeth didn't expect him to say that, but knowing Louis's character, she wasn't surprised.

When Calla woke up, her head was pounding. She checked her phone and saw a transfer of $2 billion to her account.

She slowly came to her senses. Everything that had happened wasn't a dream; it was all real.

Elizabeth had come to see her, she had confronted Jennifer, and even threatened her with a knife.

She quickly transferred the $2 billion back to Elizabeth.

She sat down, desperately trying to figure out what to do next.

She had completely fallen out with Jennifer. She had invested $2 billion with Jennifer, which was why Jennifer had been polite to her.

Now, Toby had broken up with her, and the $2 billion investment was returned. Jennifer probably wished she were dead.

Anthony was still dating her, but she knew he hated her deeply. He blamed her for his downfall.

With nowhere else to turn, Calla contacted that person.

Margaret was surprised to get a call from Calla. She laughed, her tone dripping with sarcasm. "Dr. Griffin, what made you think of calling me?"

Calla struggled to suppress her shame and anger. "Ms. Taylor, I was foolish before and made you unhappy. From now on, I'll listen to you and follow your orders."

Margaret laughed heartily. "Calla, when I brought you back, what did I tell you? I asked you to keep Michael away from Elizabeth. You took my money, and how did you repay me? You threw yourself at Michael! How dare you?"

Calla took a deep breath. "I'm sorry! I was wrong!"

Margaret's tone turned icy. "If you know you were wrong, then get lost."

Calla pleaded, "No, Ms. Taylor, please give me another chance!"

Margaret sneered. "Calla, why would I be foolish enough to make the same mistake twice?"

Calla humbled herself. "I was too arrogant before. I won't be like that again."

Margaret scoffed. "Calla, you have no value to me anymore. You're a discarded piece. Do you understand?"
