Chapter 377 Miscarriage

In the adjacent hospital building, in the gynecology ward, Sarah had also woken up.

She asked David, "Where's Elizabeth?"

David held her hand, tears welling up in his eyes. "Sarah, don't worry about Elizabeth right now, okay? Just focus on taking care of yourself, alright?"

Sarah's already pale face turned even whiter, her lips trembling slightly. "Did something happen to Elizabeth?"

David covered his eyes with his hand, his voice choked with emotion. "No, Elizabeth is fine. She had a baby boy and is staying in the maternity ward in the building next door."

Sarah nodded, a wave of relief washing over her. "As long as she's okay."

She turned her head to look at David. "David..."

David quickly wiped his tears and looked at her. "Sarah, what do you need? Are you hungry? Thirsty?"

Sarah shook her head. "I'm not hungry. David, there's something I wanted to tell you before."

David immediately thought she was going to talk about her previous pregnancy.

He quickly interrupted her, tucking the blanket around her. "Sarah, you're still very weak. Whatever it is, it can wait."

Sarah stared at him intently. "David, our baby... is gone, isn't it?"

David's hand froze, and he looked at her in shock. "Sarah, you already know?"

Sarah had been probing, but David's response confirmed her fears. Tears streamed down her face, disappearing into the pillow.

David panicked, fumbling to wipe her tears. "Sarah, don't cry. The doctor said the baby was still very small and might not have been healthy. We'll have more children in the future."

The brutal kick from the thug had caused Sarah to miscarry.

She looked at David, closing her eyes gently as more tears fell. "David, I'm sorry. I couldn't protect our baby. I'm so sorry."

David hugged her, kissing her tears away. "Sarah, don't think about anything else. You know I love you. Nothing is more important to me than you. As long as you're okay, I can handle anything."

Sarah's tears flowed even more fiercely.

The couple held each other, kissing.

In the hospital's underground parking lot, Margaret sat in her car, handing a small suitcase to Octavia.

"Octavia, there's enough cash here for you to get a new identity and start a new life. From now on, we're strangers. The rest of the journey is up to you."

Octavia, wearing sunglasses and a mask, took the suitcase and opened it to find it filled with cash.

She quickly closed it. "Margaret, you're the most generous employer I've ever met. Thank you."

Margaret waved her hand dismissively. "Your mission with me is complete. Go start your new life."

Gratitude filled Octavia's eyes. She got out of the car and bowed deeply to Margaret. "Goodbye, Margaret."

She pulled the suitcase and quickly disappeared into the shadows.

Margaret watched her leave through the rearview mirror. Then, she picked up a bouquet of lilies from the passenger seat, put on her sunglasses, and headed for the elevator.

She went to the gynecology ward and first stopped by the restroom.

From her purse, she took out a pre-prepared piece of wasabi and lightly dabbed it at the corners of her eyes, causing tears to flow immediately.

She dabbed at the tears with a tissue, wiping away the wasabi. Satisfied with her red eyes in the mirror, Margaret smiled.

She gracefully walked to Sarah's room and gently knocked on the door.

Before anyone inside could respond, she pushed the door open and walked straight to the bedside.

David hadn't expected her to come and immediately grabbed her flowers, throwing them into the trash.

He seized Margaret by the collar, pulling her up and growling, "Margaret! How dare you come here? Don't you know Michael and I want you dead?"

David's eyes were bulging with rage.

Sarah glared at her with intense hatred. Seeing Margaret reminded her of that disgusting man, his repulsive penis, and the brutal kick.

Because of this vile woman, she and David had lost their first child!

Sarah wished she could tear Margaret apart.

Lying in bed, she stared daggers at Margaret, wishing her gaze could bore countless holes into her, flaying her alive.

Margaret broke free from David and rushed to Sarah's bedside, feigning urgency.

"Ms. Martinez, you can't blame me! I just found out that Octavia did something so heinous behind my back! But she's fled now, taking all the cash and jewelry from my apartment. I'm a victim too!"

David grabbed her collar again, growling lowly, "Margaret! If you don't leave right now, I will kill you! Push me, and I will hit a woman!"

He looked at Sarah on the bed, her broken state tearing at his heart. He wanted to kill Margaret to avenge her.

But he struggled to stay rational, waiting for Michael to find evidence to bring Margaret to justice.

Margaret glanced at David's clenched fist and awkwardly walked towards the door.

With her hand on the doorknob, she turned back to Sarah and said slowly, "Even if you can't have children in the future, it's not a big deal."

"Look at me, I had my uterus removed early on. It saves the trouble of raising kids. It's not a big deal, Ms. Martinez."

With that, she quickly opened the door and left.

Behind her, David was grinding his teeth, wanting to rush after her and beat her to death.

He ran to Sarah's side, seeing her dazed expression, and frantically said, "Sarah, don't listen to that crazy woman. She's just talking nonsense. She can't have children and is jealous of all women. She's a venomous snake, trying to make you upset."

"Sarah, look at me. Look at me. Don't think about it, Sarah. We'll get through this. We'll have many more children..."

Sarah slowly raised her hand, gently covering his mouth. "David, I need you to tell me the truth. Is it not just this baby? Will I never be able to have children again? Tell me."
