Chapter 298 When Did Those Two Get Together?
When Elizabeth heard those words, her first reaction was to quickly step back, putting as much distance between them as possible.
Michael watched her blush and chuckled softly. "Elizabeth, why are you so easily teased?"
Elizabeth shot him a fierce glare.
Just then, Walter and his assistant walked in, greeting Elizabeth, "Morning, Ms. Jones."
Elizabeth smiled back, "Morning."
Michael stood there with his arms outstretched, "You hired chefs to help? Then why did you drag me into the kitchen?"
Elizabeth just smiled and walked away without answering.
Pearl came running in and hugged her, "Mommy!"
Elizabeth knelt down and kissed her forehead, "Pearl, what are you doing here?"
Pearl hid in Elizabeth's arms, peeking out at Michael. "Mommy, why is this jerk here? Did you invite him?"
Michael's brow furrowed at the "jerk".
He had already confirmed that Nolan and Pearl were his children, so he needed to improve his image in their eyes.
Previously, he had left a terrible impression, especially on Nolan, who probably still hated him.
Pearl seemed sweet and adorable, so winning her over might be easier.
He approached her with a friendly smile, "Hey there, little Pearl. I'm Michael Thomas."
Elizabeth couldn't believe her ears. This was completely out of character for the usually aloof Michael.
She stared at him wide-eyed, but he wasn't looking at her.
Michael knelt down in front of Pearl and, like a magician, produced a crystal bracelet. "Dear Princess Pearl, this is a magic bracelet. Whenever you're troubled, open the clasp and take a crystal bead to find me. I'll help you solve your problems."
Pearl hadn't had any direct conflicts with Michael, so her dislike for him wasn't that deep. In fact, seeing him standing there, refined and charming, she found him less detestable.
After all, she was quite taken with good looks, and handsome people were always easier to forgive.
Pearl peeked out, her big eyes curious, "Is it really that magical?"
Michael nodded seriously, "Of course, I've had it enchanted."
He handed the bracelet to Pearl.
Pearl excitedly put it on her wrist and looked up at Michael, "Don't think that just because you gave me a gift, I'll forgive you. I'm just curious!"
Michael closed his eyes and nodded earnestly, "Yes, our lovely Pearl always has principles."
As they were talking, Nolan came over looking for Pearl. "Pearl, what are you doing here? Eloise is looking for you."
Pearl quickly ran to Nolan's side, "Nolan, I came to find Mommy."
Nolan saw Michael and glared at him, pulling Pearl behind him, "I warn you, stay away from Pearl!"
Michael rubbed his temples in frustration. Nolan still hated him as much as ever.
After Nolan and Pearl left, he approached Elizabeth and said helplessly, "Nolan still hates me."
Elizabeth didn't look at him, "I haven't said anything bad about you to them. They're just unhappy with your actions. They have their own thoughts."
Michael nodded, "I'll keep trying."
The chefs were already busy preparing ingredients in the kitchen.
Elizabeth said, "Let's head to the yard and not bother the chefs. We can see how Sarah and the others are doing with the barbecue."
Michael walked beside her, gently supporting her as they headed outside.
Elizabeth looked at him puzzled, "What are you doing? I'm not going to fall."
Michael replied, "You're pregnant now, you need to be careful."
Elizabeth retorted, "Now you remember I'm pregnant? You didn't seem to think about that when we were... making love."
Michael said, "I'll be more careful in the future."
They reached the yard.
As soon as Sarah saw them, she rushed over to Elizabeth and pushed Michael aside. "Elizabeth, come over here and have some barbecue. I've saved the best parts for you."
Elizabeth smiled, "Thanks, Sarah. You're the best."
She looked around, "Where's Louie? And Eloise?"
Sarah replied, "Oh, right. They were just here cutting meat together. Where did they go?"
Michael was surprised, "Eloise cutting meat? With Louie?"
David nodded, "Yeah, Michael. I saw them too. They seemed to be getting along well."
Michael was still worried. Eloise rarely left his sight without a reason. He had told her not to leave Elizabeth's yard.
Just then, Eloise came from the backyard, holding a bouquet of sunflowers.
Her forehead was slightly sweaty, and her face was flushed with a sweet smile.
She walked over to Michael, her eyes sparkling, "Michael, look, Louie helped me pick these flowers from the backyard."
Michael nodded, "They're beautiful."
She turned to Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, I picked these flowers from your yard. Are you mad?"
Elizabeth shook her head, "Louie helped you pick them, it's fine. Besides, I didn't plant them. They grew from seeds washed in by the rain. They're wildflowers."
Eloise smiled, "That's what Louie told me too. He said these sunflowers are very resilient, they can survive with just a little sunlight and water."
Elizabeth nodded with a smile, then walked over to the table in the yard and sat down.
Michael brought her some barbecue and desserts.
Upstairs, in Nolan's room, Nolan was at his desk, looking at his laptop.
The adults were busy in the yard, and he and Pearl had nothing to do, so they went back to their room.
Pearl was playing with her new bracelet.
Nolan hacked into Anthony's phone.
He opened the photo album and saw many intimate photos of Anthony and Calla, which were quite explicit.
Nolan couldn't bear to look any further. He was still a kid, after all. He randomly selected a few photos and sent them anonymously to Elizabeth.
Elizabeth was chatting with Sarah while eating barbecue when her phone chimed with a new message.
She opened it and saw photos of Anthony kissing Calla, with a hotel bed in the background. They were barely dressed, almost naked.
Elizabeth's eyes widened, and she quickly checked the sender, but it was blank.
Sarah noticed her expression and asked, "Elizabeth, what's wrong?"
Elizabeth snapped out of it and gently pushed her phone towards Sarah, "Look at this. I just received it."
Sarah looked and gasped, then quickly covered her mouth, "Elizabeth, when did those two get together?"
