Chapter 421 Proclamation to the World

Elizabeth urged Dean to head back to the office, but he was hesitant to leave right away. He was still worried about her, thinking she might be putting on a brave face.

"Elizabeth, don't push me away. I haven't checked on Innovatech Solutions in a while. It's a good chance to see how things are going. I'll go back when the time's right."

Elizabeth didn't argue further.

Pearl needed Nolan to stay with her at night to help her fall asleep.

Nolan had no choice but to stay by her side, soothing her to sleep.

"Nolan, I still can't understand why Dad left me without any explanation. He used to be so gentle with me."

Nolan's face showed disdain. "He's just a jerk. He only cares about himself."

Pearl shook her head gently. "No, that's not true. When I took his box, he didn't blame me. Later, someone tricked me and took the box. I was so scared, thinking he'd be angry. But he wasn't. He even comforted me."

Pearl mumbled as she drifted off to sleep.

Nolan was startled.

What box?

A flash of insight hit him.

Yes! That box! It contained Michael's secrets! He had opened it long ago. Inside were Michael's psychiatric diagnosis and his father's funeral video.

Nolan glanced at the sleeping Pearl, stood up, and walked to the desk to open his computer.

Michael's sudden actions made sense now; he was being blackmailed. His marriage to Margaret was forced.

If Nolan exposed Michael's secrets to the world, would he still go through with the wedding to Margaret?

Would Elizabeth and Pearl be less upset if they knew the truth about the wedding?

Nolan didn't care about Michael's struggles. He just wanted his mom and sister to be happy.

Celestria.

A social media post went viral. It was from an account called "I am not george," stating, "Michael has schizophrenia. I have the medical diagnosis."

The account had barely any posts, but internet sleuths deduced it was Samuel's alternate account based on a few photos.

The revelation caused an uproar.

[Is Samuel crazy? His sister is about to marry Michael, and he exposes Michael's scandal, announcing to the world that Michael is mentally ill. What's his game?]

[Think about it. Michael and Elizabeth were so in love. Why would he suddenly marry Margaret? Is it a business deal?]

[What business deal? STellar Enterprises' funds are way above Zenith Investments. The Thomas family and the Taylor family aren't even in the same league. Michael doesn't need the Taylor family's resources. He wouldn't care about their assets.]

[So, was Michael being blackmailed?]

[He has schizophrenia? Is that why he created the STellar Enterprises legend? I wish I had a mental illness too.]

Samuel found out about the post. He immediately logged in, deleted it, and issued a statement claiming his account was hacked and he had reported it to the police.

He was panicking. He had intended to use this to blackmail Michael. Now that the public knew Michael's mental illness, it was no longer a secret.

What could he use to threaten Michael now?

He quickly made a call.

"Michael, I didn't post that. You gotta believe me."

Michael remained calm. "And then?"

Samuel was frantic. "Seriously! It wasn't me! I promised you I wouldn't spill the beans. It wouldn't make sense for me to shoot myself in the foot like that."

Michael asked, "Who else knows?"

Samuel was confused. "What do you mean? The box? I told Margaret about it! I know! It must be her! She knows my account username and password! She logged in before! I thought the account was useless, so I let her use it! It must be her! She wants to ruin your reputation! She told me she didn't want the wedding."

Michael replied coldly, "I understand."

He hung up, pondering who could have done it.

It wouldn't be Margaret. He and Margaret had already formed an alliance. Samuel didn't know that.

Who else knew?

Suddenly, Nolan's stubborn yet innocent face flashed in his mind.

Michael frowned slightly. Could it be Nolan? Did he hate his father so much that he wanted the world to know his secret?

Pearl had kept the box at Whispering Pines Estates for so long; Nolan must have opened it. He must have known the secret for a while.

Didn't he consider that he and Pearl might be ridiculed at school?

Or was he seeking revenge for Elizabeth?

If Nolan did it, Michael couldn't punish him. He owed them. He'd let Nolan vent his anger.

Daniel, still in the CEO's office, watched Michael's calm expression, unsure of his thoughts.

He had already called Dean, confirming Nolan was responsible. Michael must have realized it too. But he wasn't angry.

Maybe he still loved Elizabeth. If it were anyone else, Michael wouldn't let them see the next day's sunrise.

Valoria.

Dean entered Elizabeth's room.

"Elizabeth, you're performing surgery on that patient tomorrow, right?"

"Yeah. I've promised for so long, it's not good to keep delaying."

Dean hesitated. "Have you seen the news from Celestria lately?"

Elizabeth glanced at him. "Why don't you just ask if I've seen the news about Michael?"

Dean smiled awkwardly, scratching his head. "Isn't that too direct? So, have you seen it?"

"Are you talking about his mental illness? Do you think he seems like a mentally ill person? Even if he was, he's probably cured now."

Dean persisted. "Doesn't that mean he had a reason for leaving you and marrying Margaret? The Taylor family must have blackmailed him. He must still love you and the kids the most."

Elizabeth looked at him with a probing gaze. "Dean, don't tell me you've been bribed by Daniel and switched sides. Don't mention that person to me again. I believe he loved me. But his love was always fickle, too easily swayed by external factors. He loves himself the most. I was never in his top three priorities."

"I've long stopped hoping for his love. He's always so self-righteous, never considering my feelings. He's not me; why should he make decisions for me? He probably thinks he's done something great and expects me to be grateful."
