Chapter 592 Wedding News
When David heard that Sarah was pregnant, his urge to see her grew even stronger. He eased off the gas pedal and pulled over to the side of the road.
"Mom, Sarah's pregnant? How am I just finding out about this now? It's my fault! I haven't been paying enough attention to her. She has every right to be mad at me."
He opened the car door, got out, and walked towards the grocery store on the corner. "Mom, let me go over and talk to Sarah. I think she’s got some misunderstandings about me."
Before Wren could respond, Sarah's angry voice came through the phone, "I don't have any misunderstandings about you. I know exactly what your parents think now. Your whole family has really opened my eyes! I can't believe you all could come up with such disgusting ideas! You make me sick!"
David was about to speak when Wren quickly interjected, "David, let's leave it for today. Sarah can't get upset; it could affect the baby."
With that, she hung up the phone.
David stood at the entrance of the grocery store, holding his phone, unsure of what to do next.
In the end, he went inside and bought some prenatal vitamins and other nutritional supplements.
He piled the items in the back seat, got back into the car, and called Elizabeth.
"Elizabeth, did you know Sarah is pregnant?"
David's voice was devoid of any excitement, filled only with exhaustion.
But the voice that came through the receiver wasn't Elizabeth's.
"Sarah's pregnant, and the baby isn't Elizabeth's. Why are you calling her?"
David was momentarily stunned, then exclaimed, "Michael! You're awake?"
Michael rolled his eyes, "What do you think?"
David laughed, "Michael, when are you guys coming back? You have no idea how much I've missed you!"
"Soon."
David pressed, "How soon is soon?"
"Soon means soon."
David knew Michael's temperament and realized he wouldn't get more information, so he resignedly said, "Alright. When you get back, I'll come see you."
In a hospital room at Harmony Health Hospital in Aurora Bay, Michael was lying in bed.
As he hung up the phone, Elizabeth walked out of the bathroom.
"Who were you talking to?"
"David. He wanted to tell you that Sarah is pregnant."
Elizabeth smiled, "That's great news! Sarah must have gone through a lot to get pregnant."
Michael looked at her steadily, "I don't know what she went through. I just want to know how much longer until I can go home."
Elizabeth walked over and propped a pillow behind his back. "Your wounds haven't healed yet. Your knee is still injured. You need to stay in the hospital a bit longer."
She brushed the hair off his forehead, "Are you bored? Should I ask Pearl to come keep you company?"
Michael's eyes lit up, "Pearl forgave me? She doesn't blame me for leaving her behind?"
Elizabeth smiled gently, "I explained everything to her. It wasn't your fault. It was my decision that caused you to lose the company and get set up, leading to your memory loss."
Michael took her hand, "Elizabeth, I was wrong too. I shouldn't have doubted you."
Elizabeth took out her phone and dialed a number. "I'll call Eloise and Pearl to come see you, so you won't be bored."
"But, do I look too disheveled right now?"
"You're Pearl's dad and Eloise's brother. They won't laugh at you."
After hanging up, Elizabeth helped Michael to the bathroom to wash his face and hands.
Eloise arrived at the hospital first, with Louis by her side.
She walked timidly to Michael's bedside, tears welling up in her eyes.
When Michael saw her, it felt like a lifetime had passed.
His voice was hoarse and filled with disbelief, "Eloise? Is it really you?"
Eloise couldn't hold back any longer and hugged him tightly, "Michael! I finally get to see you! You have no idea how much I've wanted to see you and how scared I was to see you! I was afraid you'd be mad at me."
"Eloise, you're right. I am mad at you. You shouldn't have taken it upon yourself to donate so much blood to Francis. Francis is important to me, but you're my beloved sister. You're just as important. I can't bear to see you in danger."
Eloise straightened up, nervously twisting her fingers, "Michael, I'm sorry. I was wrong. I won't make you worry about me again."
Michael took her hand, "And you shouldn't have left so abruptly when you were in danger. If you had stayed, I could have found the best doctors for you. You wouldn't have had to suffer so much."
Eloise pulled Louis over, "Michael, I didn't suffer much. Louis has been by my side, taking care of me all this time. He's done so much for me."
Michael turned his head away, "I'm not feeling well. I don't want to see any outsiders."
Eloise blushed, "Michael, Louis isn't an outsider. He's..."
Louis quickly interrupted her, "Eloise, you and Michael have finally reunited. You must have a lot to talk about. I'll head out for now."
With that, he turned and left the room.
Elizabeth followed him out, "Louis!"
Louis turned around, "Elizabeth."
Elizabeth looked apologetic, "Louis, I'm really sorry. Michael has been holding a grudge against you because of the blood donation incident. It's partly my fault too. I apologize on his behalf."
Louis shook his head, "Elizabeth, you don't need to apologize to me. I'll take responsibility for everything I've done, including my marriage to Eloise."
Elizabeth was shocked, "Marriage? Louis, you and Eloise are married?"
Louis nodded, "Yes. We registered our marriage abroad. But Eloise wanted Michael's approval, so we agreed not to tell him yet."
Elizabeth nodded, "Not telling him is probably for the best, to avoid him getting too emotional."
They were talking in the hallway when Susan arrived with Francis, and Dean walked in with Pearl.
Elizabeth immediately greeted them, "You're here."
Susan smiled, "Elizabeth, you asked for Pearl to come see Michael, so I took the liberty of bringing Francis along too."
"That's good. Michael hasn't seen Francis in a long time."
Everyone entered the room.
Elizabeth walked to the bedside, "Michael, how did your talk with Eloise go?"
Michael looked up and saw Francis and Pearl, a smile forming at the corners of his eyes, "Pearl! Francis!"
Pearl walked over and placed the flowers she was holding on the table, "Daddy, I hope you get well soon."
"Thank you, Pearl!"
Pearl pointed behind her, "Daddy, you haven't seen Francis in a long time, have you?"
Michael nodded, "I wonder if he still remembers me?"
Pearl gently led Francis to him, "Francis, say hi to Daddy."
Francis glanced at Michael, then quickly turned and clung to Elizabeth, "Mommy! Mommy!"
Elizabeth laughed and picked him up, looking at Michael, "Don't feel bad. He was very young when you left. Spend more time with him, and he'll come to love you again."
