Chapter 246 Kiss Her Fiercely
Calla was shaking with anger, thinking, 'Elizabeth again. That woman just won't leave me alone.'
Just then, Mary walked in.
"Calla, what's going on? Did Michael pick up the phone?" she asked.
Before Calla could answer, William came in. "Mom, come with me to talk to the guests. Michael's not coming. The engagement's off," he said.
Mary was stunned. "Everything's set up. Why isn't he coming?" she asked.
William shrugged. "He didn't say. Let's just calm the guests down. No need to make a scene."
Calla collapsed onto the sofa, feeling defeated.
William and Mary headed to the front hall, while Anthony quietly slipped into the dressing room.
"Are you okay?" he asked.
Calla's face was pale, a far cry from the glowing look she had that morning. She hung her head, not caring that her hair was a mess.
"Michael canceled the engagement. He made a fool of me, of everyone. He played me like a puppet. Happy now?" she said bitterly.
Anthony stepped closer, gently took her hand, and frowned.
"Why would I be happy? Seeing you like this feels like karma. Now I get how desperate Elizabeth must have felt when I deceived her," he said.
Calla sneered, "You and Michael, always thinking about Elizabeth. How am I any less than her?"
"No. I haven't thought about her in a long time," Anthony said, wiping away Calla's tears. "Don't put yourself down. You're not inferior to anyone. To me, no one compares to you."
Calla sighed, "What good does it do that you think I'm great? Michael still left me!"
Footsteps echoed outside. Anthony quickly let go of Calla's hand and stepped back as Mary walked in. She sat next to Calla and took her hand.
"Calla, Michael wronged you, but the Thomas family won't. Don't worry; even if today's ceremony is canceled, you're still part of the Thomas family. I'll make sure Michael marries you officially," she said.
Mary took off a necklace and put it on Calla. "This was given to me by Michael's grandmother. Today, I'm giving it to you. Accept it, and you're part of the Thomas family."
Calla managed a small smile. "Thank you, Mrs. Thomas."
Mary smiled back. "Calla, you're so dignified and well-behaved. Michael is just immature. I'll make him apologize to you! And when he does, don't forgive him easily!"
In the Rolls-Royce on Sunset Serenity Avenue, Elizabeth stared at Michael as he hung up the phone and turned to her.
"Are you crazy? Why did you say that to her? She's your fiancée! Aren't you afraid she'll do something reckless if you push her like this?" she said.
Elizabeth felt a chill under Michael's gaze.
"Don't look at me like that. It's fine if you go crazy alone, but why drag me into it? You're making me a target! Calla will definitely hate me now!" she continued.
Michael said, "Then give me Carter's contact info, and I'll explain to Calla that it was just a misunderstanding."
Elizabeth was furious.
"Michael, can things like this really cancel each other out? You just shouted so loudly to Calla that you love me, only to threaten me now? That's too much! I'm so glad I already divorced you! I'm really relieved that I didn't fall deeper in love with you. Someone like you doesn't deserve love."
Michael's eyes darkened. He leaned forward, trapping Elizabeth's shoulders with his hands, and kissed her.
Elizabeth's accusations were cut off. She widened her eyes and tried to push him away, but her strength was no match for his, and Michael didn't budge.
He bit her harshly, with no tenderness at all. She whimpered in pain, but he didn't care.
At first, he just wanted to punish her by sealing her lips. But then, he got hooked. It was like he'd been craving this for ages and was finally getting his fix.
He pried her lips open with his tongue, ravaging her mouth. Her hands were in the way, so he pinned them behind her back, leaving her powerless. His body pressed tightly against hers, as if trying to draw infinite strength from her.
Suddenly, he tasted something salty. He stopped and saw her face covered in tears. Her lips were bleeding from his bites.
He clumsily wiped her tears and said, "I'm sorry. I lost control. It's my fault."
Elizabeth turned her head away in anger, ignoring him.
Michael turned her head back, pressing his forehead against hers, trying to calm his heartbeat.
"Elizabeth, I'm sorry, that wasn't my intention. Please forgive me," he said.
He gently kissed away her tears, then kissed her lips again, this time tenderly and with remorse.
But Elizabeth turned her head sharply, avoiding his lips.
"Michael, open the door and let me out," she said.
He grabbed her hand and said, "Elizabeth, don't hate me."
He then unlocked the central lock, and Elizabeth opened the door.
"Give me my phone," she demanded, her voice colder than the weather outside.
Michael handed her phone to her and draped his coat over her shoulders.
Elizabeth got out of the car, threw his coat on the ground in disdain, and ran across the street to hail a cab.
She sat in the cab and called Dean. After learning that the kids were already at the kindergarten, she felt relieved.
Yet Dean was shouting on the phone, telling her to hurry back to the office. "Elizabeth, something big happened!"
Elizabeth rushed back to the villa, washed up, changed clothes, put on a mask, and drove to the Jones Group.
As soon as she entered the company building, she felt something was different.
It wasn't until she sat in the familiar chair in the CEO's office and saw Dean's overly exaggerated smile that she realized everyone in the company seemed to be in high spirits, no longer the previous gloomy atmosphere.
She asked in confusion, "Is it Christmas already?"
Dean said, "Elizabeth, haven't you checked Twitter?"
Elizabeth replied, "My phone died this morning, I just turned it on. Why?"
Dean couldn't wait and quickly opened his phone to show her Carter's latest Twitter update.
Elizabeth clicked on it and saw that Carter's account, which had been silent for three years, had posted a new video update early this morning.
In the video, Carter said, "Thank you for recording. Thank you for keeping me company. Thank you for always being by my side. You are family and a friend, helping me dispel the gloom and return to the world."
The video showed a household robot recording his daily rehabilitation activities and helping him with his rehab exercises.
In the video, the robot's image was clear, obviously a product of the Jones Group, while the background and other details were blurred.
However, those familiar with Carter could tell that the person in the video was him.
At the end of the post, Carter tagged the Jones Group's official account. The likes and comments had already exceeded ten million.
Elizabeth was stunned after watching the video.
Dean waved his hand in front of her. "Elizabeth. What's wrong with you? Why are you wearing a mask today? Do you have a cold? Afraid of infecting me? I'm not afraid. My immune system is very strong..." he said.
Elizabeth raised her hand to stop his rambling. "I drank all kinds of alcohol last night and woke up this morning with an allergic reaction, got a rash on my face, and didn't want to scare anyone."
Hearing this, Dean looked relieved.
He said, "I thought you kissed someone and got your lips bitten."
