Chapter 309 Kidnapped
Michael couldn't believe it. "The airport? Where are they headed?"
"Valoria."
Michael took a deep breath.
Why was Elizabeth suddenly going to Valoria? Was it because he hadn't responded to their relationship? Was she angry, just like five years ago when she left without a word? Was she planning to disappear on him again? This infuriating woman, did she think he was dead? Didn't she care that he would be hurt and angry?
Indeed, in her heart, he wasn't important.
Michael held back his anger. "Why so sudden? What are they going to Valoria for?"
Daniel replied, "Dean said Louis was kidnapped. Elizabeth is going to Valoria to rescue him."
Michael couldn't believe his ears and was silent for a few seconds.
Daniel tentatively asked, "Mr. Thomas? Mr. Thomas, are you still there?"
Michael exploded. "Is she out of her mind? And Dean is going along with this madness? Why didn't he try to stop her?"
Daniel responded weakly, "I asked the same thing, but Dean didn't answer me. I rushed to inform you, so I didn't press further."
Michael said, "Alright, I understand."
He hung up the phone and sat in the living room, fuming.
So Elizabeth wasn't leaving because of him. No wonder the restaurant staff said she looked tense; it was because Louis had been kidnapped.
No wonder she didn't reach out to him or seek his help. Since it involved another man, she probably felt too embarrassed to ask him.
Michael stood up and paced the living room, agitated.
Was Elizabeth brave or just foolish? Louis was kidnapped abroad, and she didn't think to contact the Cox family? She was just going with her courage, not afraid of the danger? For another man, she was willing to risk her life?
Moreover, she was carrying his child! And she was risking her life for another man without a word.
The more Michael thought about it, the angrier he got. He finally couldn't hold back and called Elizabeth.
Elizabeth shivered reflexively when she heard her phone ring.
Dean, sitting beside her, reached out and held her hand, patting it reassuringly. "Elizabeth, don't be afraid. I'm here."
Elizabeth's heart raced. She took a deep breath, saw that it was Michael calling, and answered. "Hello."
Michael's voice was filled with suppressed anger. "Elizabeth, you really have some nerve! Going off to play hero without a word! You're leaving the country and didn't think to tell me?"
His voice, oddly enough, calmed her nerves.
Elizabeth glanced at Dean.
Dean understood her look. It meant that Daniel, that jerk, had reported to Michael right after hanging up.
Elizabeth sighed and closed her eyes. "Michael, I don't think I owe you an explanation."
Michael struggled to control his anger. "Where are you now?"
Elizabeth looked up. "I'm at the airport."
Michael said, "Stay there and wait for me!"
Elizabeth replied helplessly, "Michael, I can't wait for you. There's no time."
Michael's tone was firm. "I'm leaving right now!"
Elizabeth explained, "I'm sorry, but I can't wait. If I miss this flight, I'll have to wait until tomorrow. I can wait, but Louis can't. Michael, even if you come, it won't change my decision. I'm going to Valoria. No one can stop me."
Whether Michael was at Stellar Enterprises or the Thomas Mansion, it would take at least an hour and a half to drive to the airport.
Thinking of Louis suffering far away, possibly because of her, Elizabeth felt deeply guilty. She had to get there as quickly as possible.
At this moment, she wished she had wings to fly to Louis and save him.
Michael's tone softened. "Elizabeth, you're carrying our child. Can you think about the baby too? You might be able to handle it, but the baby's so small."
Elizabeth's heart turned cold at his words, and her tone became icy. "As a mother, I will do everything to protect my child. Mr. Thomas, you don't need to worry about that. Unless I die too."
Michael was on the verge of breaking down. "Elizabeth, don't talk about dying so casually!"
Elizabeth sighed. "Alright, I'm hanging up."
At the Thomas Mansion, Michael had returned to his bedroom. He threw his phone on the table and collapsed on the bed, staring at the ceiling, his mind in turmoil. Sadness, disappointment, and anger consumed him.
He couldn't believe Elizabeth had just left him like that.
He checked the flight records to Valoria and saw that she would board a plane in an hour and a half.
Even if he rushed to the airport, she would likely already be on the plane. He wouldn't even see her.
He got up, dressed, and grabbed his keys to leave.
Eloise, who lived next door, hadn't slept. Hearing him, she ran to the door and called out, "Michael!"
Michael turned to look at her. "Eloise, it's late. Go back to bed."
Eloise didn't move. "Michael, you know it's late. Why are you going out?"
Michael's expression carried a hint of helplessness. "I have something to handle. I have to go."
Eloise asked, "Michael, is it about Elizabeth? I overheard everything. Are you going to find her?"
Michael pulled her into her room and closed the door. "No, I can't make it in time. She and Dean are at the airport, about to board a flight to Valoria."
Eloise's eyes widened. "What happened to Elizabeth? Why is she suddenly going to Valoria?"
Michael replied, "It's Louis."
Eloise immediately looked worried. "Louis? What happened to him?"
Michael gave her a puzzled look. Why was she so concerned about Louis? When did they become so close?
It seemed that Eloise's independent spirit had grown stronger. She was no longer the same Eloise.
In the past, her small world only included him and Clio. Everyone else was a stranger, not to be approached.
Michael said, "Louis was kidnapped in Valoria. Elizabeth is going to rescue him."
Eloise collapsed onto the sofa, her face pale. "Kidnapped? How could Louis be kidnapped? He was here just a few days ago. How did he end up abroad and kidnapped?"
Michael shook his head. "I haven't investigated yet. I don't know."
Suddenly, a thought struck him, and his eyes darkened. "Could he have been kidnapped here and then taken to Valoria?"
