Chapter 457 Appraisal Results

Margaret saw his reaction and, to his surprise, burst into laughter. She looked like a kid who'd just been handed a candy bar.

"Michael, what's up? Are you really that scared of seeing me die? Or is it just that you don't want me to die here? Worried about nightmares?"

"No, Michael, I'm not here because I hate you. I don't. You've helped me a lot. Even though I own the whole Taylor Group now, I'm not happy."

She perched on the railing, gazing up at the sky.

"Michael, look, there are birds."

She raised her arm, pointing upwards.

Michael followed her finger and looked up. The early summer sky was clear, not a cloud in sight.

Suddenly, gasps of shock filled the air.

He turned back to where she had been sitting, but she was gone.

Margaret had come with the intention to die. She leaned back and fell off the rooftop, far from the safety cushion set up by the rescue team.

The crowd below covered their mouths in horror as they watched the red figure plummet, like a bird that had suddenly lost its wings.

Margaret hit the ground with a sickening thud.

The paramedics approached, shook their heads helplessly, and left.

The police quickly set up a perimeter.

Michael walked to where Margaret had been and looked down.

He felt dizzy, his body swaying slightly.

Nico quickly supported him. "Mr. Thomas!"

Michael grabbed Nico's arm, feeling drained of all strength. "Let's go back."

Margaret was dead.

The Taylor siblings were both gone.

They had both tried to harm him, and now, they were finally out of his life.

Michael felt a sense of relief, yet also a strange emptiness.

He returned to his office and called Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, Margaret is dead. Just now."

Elizabeth had already seen the news about Margaret's death. She put aside her complex feelings and worried about Michael's mental state.

After all, Margaret had been with him for many years. Would he be upset?

"Michael, do you need me to come over? Or, do you want to have the driver bring you here?"

Michael shook his head lightly, then remembered he was on the phone and she couldn't see him. He spoke softly, "No, I'm fine. She committed many crimes, harmed you multiple times, tried to drive a wedge between us, and even wanted to kill us. She deserved to die and isn't worth any sympathy. I had already arranged for Matthew to end her life, but she escaped and came here."

"Matthew? Didn't he always have feelings for Margaret? Did you consider that he might hesitate?"

"I wanted to give her a dignified death. Who could have predicted that Margaret would knock him out? I've already sent bodyguards to bring Matthew back."

"I hope he's safe."

"Elizabeth, there's nothing standing between us now. I just want to marry you as soon as possible."

Elizabeth's heart warmed, and she replied gently, "Okay."

During dinner, the delivery company brought the test results.

Susan signed for the package and placed the documents in the hallway.

"Elizabeth, there's a package for you."

Elizabeth responded, "Okay, thanks, Susan."

She continued eating.

Pearl ran over, picked up the documents, and looked at them. "Testing center?"

She ran back to the table. "Mommy, what did you get from the testing center?"

Elizabeth's heart skipped a beat. She calmly put down her knife and fork, wiped her mouth with a napkin, and said, "Mommy buys so many things, I forget sometimes. You all keep eating. I'm full."

She went to the hallway, took the documents, put them in her bag, and went upstairs.

Pearl continued eating and said to Nolan, "Mommy's acting weird today. Is she not feeling well? Why did she eat so little?"

Nolan remained calm. "Pearl, just eat your food and don't worry about it."

Susan brought soup from the kitchen. "Elizabeth already finished eating?"

Upstairs, Elizabeth carefully opened the document bag.

Her hands trembled slightly, and her heart was pounding.

If the truth was as she suspected, should she tell Michael?

She placed the two test reports on the table and forced herself to stay calm.

She paced the room several times, taking deep breaths.

Finally, she made up her mind and looked at the conclusions.

The first report: [Based on the DNA test results, excluding identical twins, close relatives, and external interference, there is no biological relationship between sample A and sample B.]

The second report: [Based on the DNA test results, excluding identical twins, close relatives, and external interference, there is a biological relationship between sample C and sample D.]

Elizabeth's heart sank.

As she suspected, the truth was revealed.

To prevent leaks, she had marked their blood samples without using real names.

A was Michael, B was Eloise.

C was Michael, D was Jesse.

The results showed that Michael and Eloise were not biologically related. They were not siblings, nor twins.

Michael was Jesse's son.

This meant that Quinn, the neglected youngest son of the Reed family, was Eloise's real brother. He was the true youngest son of the Thomas family.

Elizabeth sat in her chair, her mind in turmoil.

If Michael knew the results, how would he react?

What about Quinn? Should she help him return to the Thomas family?

But the Thomas family now only had William and Anthony, who were no better than Jesse and Philip.

And if she helped Quinn, what would happen to Michael?

Elizabeth felt lost, her mind tangled in a web of confusion.

As she was lost in thought, her phone rang.

Elizabeth looked at the caller ID. It was Michael. Her mind went blank, unsure how to face him.

She tried to calm her erratic heartbeat and swallowed. "Hello."

Michael's voice sounded normal. "Elizabeth, have you all had dinner?"

Elizabeth pretended to be casual. "Yeah, I've eaten. Pearl and Nolan are still eating. What about you? Have you eaten?"

Today, he had witnessed Margaret's death. Was he feeling down, affecting his appetite?

"Elizabeth, I miss you all, and I miss Susan's cooking. Can I come see you?"

Hearing that he wanted to come over, Elizabeth stood up abruptly, hitting her thigh against the table.

She cried out in pain.

Michael immediately sounded concerned. "Elizabeth, are you okay?"
