Chapter 445 Dirty Hand
Elizabeth's mind went blank.
What just happened? How did this happen? Why was she kissing Michael?
Michael hadn't expected her to turn her head so suddenly.
But he didn't mind the surprise. He even stuck out his tongue a bit, lightly licking his lips as if savoring something.
A slight smile played at the corners of his mouth.
Standing at a distance, Carter was staring at them without blinking. He had seen the whole scene.
'That Michael, what a shameless guy. Elizabeth is so innocent and naive, she is no match for him.'
Carter's face darkened.
Michael seemed to sense something. He felt Carter's gaze and turned to glance at him, flashing a victorious smile.
Carter's nostrils flared slightly, his breathing quickened, and he clenched his fists lightly.
Guests began to arrive at the banquet hall.
Carter and Dean naturally went to greet them.
Michael stood there motionless. Elizabeth looked at his indifferent demeanor and felt an urge to punch him.
She walked over to him, the tip of her high heel nudging his shoe lightly. "Michael, why are you standing here like a statue? You're the kids' dad, not a hotel decoration. Can you move?"
Michael was taken aback. "How should I move?"
Elizabeth rolled her eyes internally. "Why aren't you greeting the guests? Or do you think you're a guest yourself? Should I find you a seat so you can eat and drink first?"
Michael finally understood why she was angry. He wrapped his arm around her shoulder and led her towards the entrance.
"Alright, my bad. Let's greet the guests together."
They stood at the entrance, Michael's hand resting on Elizabeth's shoulder, not letting go.
Inside the hall, Carter was surrounded by female guests asking for photos and autographs. He smiled and obliged, fulfilling their requests.
Every now and then, he glanced towards the entrance.
Though he was smiling, the smile never reached his eyes.
Inside, he was raging, 'Why hasn't Michael taken his filthy hand off Elizabeth yet? Is he glued to her? Elizabeth is busy greeting guests, she's already tired, and now she has to bear that jerk's weight too, isn't she even more exhausted?'
Pearl and Nolan were in a corner of the banquet hall, playing with their classmates.
The hotel had arranged a children's play area, knowing many kids would attend.
Nolan had invited a few boys from his class.
Pearl had invited the whole class.
The girls surrounded Pearl, admiring her beautiful dress and sparkling tiara.
They chatted.
"Pearl, your dress is so pretty! I think I've seen it on TV!"
Pearl beamed. "My dad bought it for me."
"Pearl, your tiara is gorgeous! It's shinier than any tiara I've ever seen!"
"Yeah, and Pearl's magic wand! Pearl, the gem on your wand is prettier than the ones on TV!"
Pearl stroked the diamond. "This is my birthday gift from my dad."
"Pearl, your dad is so good to you!"
"Pearl, what about your mom? What did she give you?"
Pearl glanced towards the entrance. "This party is my mom's gift to me!"
She pointed to the scattered gift boxes in the play area. "These are all little presents. My mom said you can take one when you leave."
The girls cheered again.
"Pearl, your mom is so good to you!"
"Yeah, Pearl, you're so lucky!"
Pearl proudly pointed to Nolan. "I also have Nolan! My brother is really good to me too!"
"Wow! Pearl, your brother looks so cool!"
"Pearl, your brother is so handsome! I want to be his girlfriend!"
Pearl shook her head helplessly. "That might be tough. Nolan probably thinks we're all too childish."
A little girl squeezed through, pointing towards Carter, and said eagerly, "Pearl, is that Carter? My aunt says he's her idol. I want to take a picture with him and give it to my aunt. Can I?"
Pearl nodded. "Yes, that's Mr. McGinnis. But if you want a picture with him, you'll have to ask him yourself."
The little girl looked shy and pleaded, "Pearl, can you come with me? I'm a bit nervous."
Pearl stood up. "Sure, I'll go with you."
She had already noticed Carter surrounded by a group of women. She wanted him to stay away from them.
But Elizabeth had told her before that Carter was a public figure and would always be surrounded.
She couldn't just pull him away. But her friend wanted a picture with him, so she could go find him.
Pearl ran over to Carter. She and the little girl squeezed into the crowd.
She tugged on Carter's sleeve and looked up at him. "Mr. McGinnis."
Carter stopped signing and looked down at her, his eyes full of affection. "What's up, Pearl?"
Pearl gently shook his sleeve, pouting. "You've been busy all this time and haven't had any time for me."
Carter handed the autograph book back to the guest, took Pearl's hand, and walked out of the crowd, smiling. "Sorry, I need to spend time with the kids now."
Pearl happily pulled him back to the play area.
"Mr. McGinnis, my friend wants a picture with you. Her aunt is a fan."
"Alright, Pearl. Who should we ask to take the picture?"
Pearl scanned the crowd.
Carter suggested, "Pearl, why don't you ask your mom to take the picture? After all, my photos shouldn't be floating around."
Pearl clapped her hands. "Okay, Mr. McGinnis, wait here. Don't leave."
Carter's face was already full of smiles.
Soon, Pearl brought Elizabeth over.
"Mom, come on. Take a picture of us with Mr. McGinnis!"
Elizabeth took out her phone and opened the camera.
"Carter, thank you for all your hard work today."
She snapped a few photos.
"Carter, take a look. Do I need to retake any?"
Carter came over, leaning close to her, almost resting half his body on hers.
He naturally held her hand with the phone. "Elizabeth, I can't see clearly. Bring it closer."
Elizabeth moved the phone closer. "How did I do? Do I need to retake any?"
Carter frowned slightly. "Sorry, Elizabeth, I think I blinked in this one."
Elizabeth pulled her hand back. "No problem, I'll take another one. I'll make sure you look great."
Carter smiled happily, completely ignoring the murderous glare from the front.
