Chapter 441 "Babe"

Elizabeth used to stay up late working on plans and wake up early for treatments, never feeling tired.

But now, she often felt drained and sometimes experienced a dull ache in various parts of her body.

Half-asleep, she thought she should find time for a check-up.

She closed her eyes to rest for a bit, then checked the surveillance camera on her phone to watch Francis for a while.

Sarah emerged, her steps light and cheerful, indicating her improved mood.

Smiling, she linked her arm with Elizabeth's. "Elizabeth, take me home. I haven't been home all night. I miss it. I want to clean up and tidy my place myself."

Elizabeth was slightly surprised.

As the daughter of a department store president, Sarah rarely did any housework at home, leaving everything to the housekeeping staff.

Elizabeth drove Sarah home. On the way, Sarah called David.

"Hey babe, I'm heading home now. Where are you?"

The familiar term of endearment nearly brought David to tears. It had been a long time since Sarah called him "babe."

In their sweet moments before, she always called him "babe."

But now, even though they had reconciled, she only called him "David" during intimate moments.

Excitedly, he said, "Sarah, wait for me at home. I'll be there soon."

"Babe, don't rush. It's still early. You can come home after work; it's the same."

David was already packing up. Speaking into his headset, he said, "How can I not rush? Babe, I haven't seen you for over ten hours. I miss you. I need to see you now. I can't relax until I see you."

In the enclosed space of the car, David's voice was clear. Sarah felt a bit shy.

Elizabeth laughed out loud. "Your David is such a romantic. He can't stand being away from you for even a moment."

Sarah lowered her head. "Elizabeth, don't laugh at me. Since David and I got back together, we've cherished each other even more than before."

Elizabeth turned the steering wheel, heading down the road to Sarah's house.

"Sarah, since you and David are happy together, please don't take any more risks that make us worry, okay?"

"I'm sorry, Elizabeth. Last night, I suddenly felt like I lost my rational judgment. Even though David and I love each other so much, I can't enjoy the pleasure of intimacy with him. Thinking about it makes me feel like a failure as a woman, like I'm letting David down."

"Last night, I felt that Margaret was the cause of all this. I had to get revenge on her, make her pay. Only by doing it myself could I ease my anger."

"And now? Have you eased your anger?" Elizabeth asked.

"Margaret has to wear a mask and hide. Even if she's the new president of Taylor Group, so what? She's probably in more pain inside. Seeing her like that, I don't hate her as much anymore. Plus, I stabbed her, and she doesn't hate me. Maybe I've forgiven her."

"Sarah, even though that awful woman doesn't deserve our forgiveness, holding onto hatred won't let us live well in the present. We should stand in the sunlight and enjoy life's beauty. Since it's all in the past and you've let it go, just live happily with David."

Sarah nodded. "I get it, Elizabeth. This time, it's for real. I'm still young, and my life is just beginning."

Elizabeth stopped the car. Sarah opened the passenger door and stepped out, immediately seeing David waiting at the door.

David saw her too. He smiled and opened his arms. Sarah ran to him, throwing herself into his embrace.

David didn't care that Elizabeth was still there. He lifted Sarah's chin and kissed her deeply.

Elizabeth shook her head with a smile and drove away alone.

Seeing her friend happy made her happy too.

The couple at the door finally ended their deep kiss.

David and Sarah looked into each other's eyes, slightly breathless.

He gently took her hand, their fingers interlocked, and they walked into the house together.

As soon as they entered the living room, they were stunned.

David's parents had been waiting on the couch for a while.

Sarah immediately let go of David's hand.

David looked at her with hurt in his eyes. "Sarah, didn't we just agree to face everything together? It's been less than five minutes, and you're already abandoning me?"

Sarah whispered, "David, the situation is different now."

David was anxious. "How is it different? Are you backing out?"

Sarah frowned and whispered, "These are your parents! How can I go against them? They gave birth to you and raised you. How can I encourage you to be unfilial?"

David was about to speak when a cough interrupted him.

David's father, Gareth Franklin, coughed lightly. "David, Sarah, stop arguing. Your mother and I have something to say."

Sarah stood quietly, waiting for their judgment. She was prepared for David's parents to disapprove of her staying with David. She had already thought of a plan.

If necessary, she and David would have a secret relationship, meeting in private until his parents eventually accepted it.

As Sarah was contemplating, Gareth spoke. "Sarah, you're not a child anymore. You're thirty now. In the future, be more thoughtful and mature. Think about the consequences of your actions and consider the feelings of those around you."

Sarah thought, 'Here it comes! They're here to criticize me, no doubt.'

For David's sake, she didn't want to argue with Gareth. Besides, he wasn't wrong.

"Dad, I mean, Mr. Franklin, I'm sorry! I didn't think things through this time and tarnished the Franklin family's reputation. I'll be more careful in the future."

Gareth leaned back on the couch. "You already called me Dad, so why change it to Mr. Franklin?"

"Sarah, we know you're a good girl, and David cares about you. Since he wants to be with you, then be together and live well. Just don't cause any more trouble."

David and Sarah exchanged a look, both seeing disbelief in each other's eyes.
