Chapter 526 Please Stay

The woman next to Elizabeth was just as shocked, her eyes wide open. "Seriously? The Murphy family's surgery isn't that reliable. Why are they still doing it?"

Her friend nodded. "Exactly. Cordelia looks happy now, but who knows how her husband will treat her once he finds out the truth."

The two women walked away, still gossiping.

Elizabeth stood there, stunned.

So, Michael had forgotten her because someone had erased his memory!

That meant his recent behavior towards her wasn't his true intention!

Elizabeth felt a surge of excitement.

She was about to step towards Michael when a bodyguard immediately stopped her.

"Ms. Jones, what are you doing?"

Elizabeth tried to break free. "I need to talk to Michael. Didn't you hear? His memory was erased, that's why he forgot me. I need to tell him the truth! He's being used!"

The bodyguard tried to reason with her, "Ms. Jones, even if you want to tell him the truth, this isn't the right place for it!"

He gestured for Elizabeth to look around.

Elizabeth calmed down.

Right, they were still on the Murphy family's yacht. Gerald's people were everywhere. She and the bodyguard were outnumbered and no match for Gerald.

Moreover, if Michael's surgery was successful and he had completely forgotten her, he wouldn't believe her and might even help Gerald against her.

Elizabeth whispered, "I guess I'll have to wait for the right moment."

The bodyguard leaned closer. "Ms. Jones, we're not here to get ourselves killed. You hired me for a high salary, but this is just a job. I want to live and enjoy life."

Elizabeth sighed. "I was being reckless. I'll be more careful."

She found a chair and sat down, her head hanging low. "I can imagine Gerald must have said a lot of bad things about me to Michael. No wonder he has such hostility towards me. Gerald must have brainwashed him after he woke up, making Michael seek revenge on me. I need to find a chance to tell him the truth. I don't want to see him become Gerald's tool. I've known for years that Gerald is not a good person."

Elizabeth took a sip of champagne.

She used to find champagne delicious, but now it tasted bitter.

The bodyguard gently nudged Elizabeth's arm. "Ms. Jones, look at what your sweetheart is doing. It'll make you give up on him."

Elizabeth looked in the direction the bodyguard indicated.

Cordelia seemed to have had too much to drink. Her face was flushed, and her eyes were dreamy. She raised a hand to her forehead and lightly tugged on Michael's black suit sleeve with the other.

Michael looked down at her, his voice full of affection. "Cordelia, look at you. You can't handle alcohol, yet you drank so much."

Cordelia laughed. "Michael, I'm so happy today. Marrying you makes me feel so blessed."

Michael supported her unsteady body. "Alright, I'll take you to rest."

Cordelia clung to his arm like a koala. "I don't want to go. I want you to hold me."

Michael sighed softly, seemingly a bit helpless. "Okay, I'll hold you."

He bent down, lifted her elaborate wedding dress, and carried her in his arms.

Cordelia smiled and wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning against him.

Michael carried her through the crowd and headed straight up the stairs.

As he passed by Elizabeth, he ignored her pained expression.

Watching them leave, Elizabeth slumped in her chair and continued drinking.

The bodyguard sat next to Elizabeth. "Ms. Jones, aren't you going to follow them and see what happens next?"

Elizabeth downed another glass of champagne and whispered, "Why would I go up there? To torture myself?"

"Ms. Jones, you came to someone else's wedding reception, didn't you expect to feel miserable?"

Elizabeth looked up and gave the bodyguard a glare. "Do you always forget that I'm your boss? Am I too kind to you? Have I been indulging you too much? Look at you now! Do you have any sense of being my bodyguard?"

The bodyguard stood up straight, awkwardly touched his nose, and remained silent.

Upstairs, the Murphy family's servants saw Michael carrying Cordelia and quickly opened the door for them.

Once they entered, the servants closed the door and stood guard outside.

As soon as Michael entered the room, his smile disappeared.

Cordelia, however, was oblivious. She continued to smile happily in his arms.

Michael placed her on the bed and turned to leave.

Cordelia was still wearing her elaborate white wedding dress. She opened her eyes and saw Michael's back as he was about to leave.

She quickly reached out and grabbed the hem of his suit.

"Michael! Are you leaving? Stay with me, please? Don't go."

Cordelia's eyes were filled with longing.

Michael turned around and gently pried her hand away.

He sat on the edge of the bed. "Cordelia, you're drunk. Sleep for a while, you'll feel better."

Cordelia suddenly sat up and hugged him tightly.

"Michael, we're married now, right? We're husband and wife, right?"

Michael stiffly nodded. "Yes, we are."

His hand hovered in the air, not touching Cordelia's bare shoulder.

Cordelia pouted. "Michael, I'm so hot right now, and lying in bed with this wedding dress is so uncomfortable. Can you help me take it off?"

Michael reached towards Cordelia's back, tentatively pulling down the zipper of her wedding dress.

Then, he forcefully created some distance between them. "Alright, Cordelia, the zipper is down. You can take off the dress yourself."

Cordelia looked up, staring at him.

Michael cleared his throat, stood up, and turned his back to her.

"Cordelia, I'll find you a comfortable dress."

Before Cordelia could respond, he walked towards the wardrobe.

The room was prepared by the Murphy family for the newlyweds, so it naturally had their spare clothes.

Michael opened the wardrobe and randomly picked out a white dress.

He walked over and placed the dress next to Cordelia. "Cordelia, put this on. It looks more comfortable."

Cordelia smiled and took the dress in her hands.

Michael turned away, his back to her.

Behind him, Cordelia's laughter echoed. "Michael, we're already married, why are you still so shy?"

Michael replied softly, "I'm not shy, I'm just worried you might be."

The sound of the wedding dress hitting the floor was followed by the rustling of clothes.

Cordelia spoke softly, "Alright, Michael, you can turn around now."

Michael didn't suspect anything and turned around calmly, then his eyes widened in shock.

In front of him, his new wife Cordelia stood completely naked.

Her cheeks were flushed, her face full of bashfulness, and her eyes filled with anticipation as she looked at him.
