Chapter 381 Have Dirt On Him

The man walked into the room, took off his sunglasses, and there he was—Samuel, who had fled abroad years ago.

He glanced around the apartment, frowning. "Is this how you're living? Michael treats you this poorly? You live in a place like this?"

Margaret's previous home was far better than this.

Samuel didn't know that Margaret had spent a lot of her savings to buy Octavia, a slave.

Later, she gave Octavia a large sum of money to ensure her safe departure.

Her parents had cut off her financial support long ago because she refused to marry the man they had chosen for her, instead pursuing Michael relentlessly.

Samuel sat on the couch, his eyes filled with concern. "Margaret, come with me. I'm doing well now. Not only that, but I also have dirt on Michael."

He paused, then continued, "If I expose it, the business world will destroy him. He won't have a place in Aurora Bay or anywhere in Celestria. It's not too late for you to leave him."

Margaret was skeptical. "What dirt could you possibly have? Even if you did, do you think he'd let it fall into your hands? I've watched him dominate the business world for years. Both the underground and official forces respect him. What could you possibly have on him?"

Samuel moved closer. "Did you forget what I told you? He killed his own father!"

Margaret scoffed. "Samuel, are you joking? If he were a murderer, why isn't he in prison? Why hasn't anyone arrested him? How is he still ruling Aurora Bay's business scene?"

Samuel stared at her intently. "That's the dirt. He has a hospital diagnosis proving he's schizophrenic. That's how he's stayed free. You're lucky you left him. Otherwise, even if he killed you, I couldn't get justice for you."

Margaret's eyes widened in shock. "Schizophrenic?"

Samuel picked up a glass of water from the table. "Surprised?"

Margaret struggled to process this shocking news, feeling a mix of emotions.

What did this mean? She, a wealthy heiress of the Taylor family, had wasted years of her life for a mentally ill man?

She had thrown away her best years for nothing! She had even foolishly had her uterus removed!

Elizabeth had called her a fool back then. She had argued with Elizabeth, but now it seemed she was indeed a complete fool!

She sat at the edge of the bed, stunned, her scarf slipping off to reveal a wound on her head.

Samuel, having finished his water, glanced at her. He had been about to ask why she was wearing a scarf indoors, but now he understood.

His expression changed, and he walked over to her, stopping her from retying the scarf. "How did it get this bad? Your scalp is injured?"

Margaret didn't want him to see her in such a miserable state and insisted on retying the scarf.

Her eyes reddened, and she lowered her head. "Samuel, please, let me keep some dignity."

Samuel couldn't hold back any longer and shouted, "Michael did this? He's gone too far! Is he taking advantage of your feelings for him?"

Margaret said nothing.

Samuel clenched his jaw and paced the room angrily.

Margaret stood up and grabbed his arm. "Samuel, I agree. I'll go with you. I don't want to die."

Samuel sighed in relief. "Finally, you're thinking straight. I don't want my next visit to be for your funeral."

At Stellar Enterprises, Margaret's office was cleared out. The new PR manager moved in, and everyone was buzzing.

"Ms. Taylor got a raw deal. After all those years with Mr. Thomas, she was just kicked out."

"No matter how deep the feelings, they can't compete with a pretty face."

"I feel bad for Ms. Taylor. I kind of sympathize with her."

"What's so special about Ms. Jones from The Jones Group? How did she push Ms. Taylor out?"

"If you have the skills, go have a son with Mr. Thomas."

"Are you kidding? With Mr. Thomas looking so fierce, I wouldn't even dare breathe near him, let alone have a child!"

"That's why Elizabeth isn't just anyone!"

With Michael temporarily away, Matthew was running the company.

He stood at the water cooler, listening to the gossip. "You all seem to have a lot of free time. Finished all your work?"

Matthew was usually friendly and approachable, so the employees weren't afraid of him.

"Mr. Anderson, we're just feeling bad for Ms. Taylor. She worked so hard, only to hand it all over to someone else."

Matthew's face turned serious. "It takes time to understand people. You only see their true nature after a while. Margaret's departure is her own doing. Don't blame others."

Everyone was surprised by Matthew's attitude. Many in the company knew he had always liked Margaret.

If even he said this, then Margaret must have made a huge mistake.

At Elizabeth's insistence, Michael finally agreed to take her to visit Sarah.

She sat in a wheelchair, and Michael pushed her.

As they reached the gynecology corridor, they saw David standing outside, looking devastated.

Elizabeth was puzzled. "David? Where's Sarah? What happened?"

David looked down, embarrassed. "Sarah's in the room. Her mom's with her."

Michael frowned slightly. "You got kicked out?"

David was on the verge of tears. "Michael, Elizabeth. Sarah wants a divorce."

Elizabeth's heart sank. As Sarah's best friend, she knew how much David meant to her.

For Sarah to ask for a divorce, something serious must have happened.

She turned to look at Michael, questioning him with her eyes, yet afraid of hearing the answer.

Michael leaned down and whispered, "Elizabeth, I didn't want to tell you, but you need to know... Sarah had a miscarriage, and she might not be able to have children again."

Elizabeth felt like she'd been struck by lightning.

Sarah wasn't like Margaret; she wanted a happy marriage, and children were part of that.

Michael explained, "David's parents are old. They really want him to have kids soon."

Elizabeth understood. Sarah wanted a divorce to avoid holding David back.

Since college, Elizabeth had known Sarah as a cheerful, sunny person. She always seemed happy, no matter what. To her, the world was always bright and beautiful.

Elizabeth felt a deep sense of guilt.

Sarah had been such a wonderful person. If she hadn't been friends with Elizabeth, she wouldn't have been targeted by Margaret and wouldn't have gone through all this.
