Chapter 574 Obedience
Matthew chuckled, "We don't need to look for more people. FutureTech Robotics Group already has a team together, so why bother?"
Elizabeth's eyes lit up, and she smiled, "Is that the confidence that comes with having a lot of money? I get it now. Money really does make things easier."
Dean, who had been quiet, stepped forward and said, "Did Michael mention any conditions? He likes Elizabeth, but he wouldn't provide so much funding without expecting something in return, right?"
Matthew looked up, "Business is business. Let's not mix feelings with the marketplace. Michael agreed to help, but of course, there are conditions. The Jones Group has hit a plateau, which shows a lack of leadership. For future operations, STellar Enterprises will have the right to oversee and have a significant say as the largest investor."
Dean was anxious, "Does that mean the Jones Group will become a subsidiary of STellar Enterprises?"
Matthew shook his head, "It's not that bad. The oversight and decision-making power belong solely to Michael. No one else at STellar Enterprises can act on his behalf."
Dean wanted to say more, but Elizabeth raised her hand to stop him.
"I agree to Michael's conditions. Mr. Anderson, please draft the contract. We can sign it as soon as possible."
Matthew extended his hand, "Alright, Ms. Jones, looking forward to working together!"
Elizabeth shook his hand, "Mr. Anderson, looking forward to working together!"
Matthew sat down, took a deep breath, and picked up his water glass, "I have to say, Ms. Jones, your water is really good."
Elizabeth smiled, "Mr. Anderson, you've come a long way to help us out. Sorry if our hospitality wasn't up to par. Now, dealing with FutureTech Robotics Group will be tough for you."
Matthew nodded, "No problem. I'll stand by you, Ms. Jones. But let's keep our collaboration between STellar Enterprises and the Jones Group under wraps for now. If Jennifer finds out, she might make preemptive moves, complicating our next steps."
Elizabeth nodded, "I understand. Only the four of us will know about this cooperation."
Dean asked, "Is this Michael's usual tactic?"
Before Matthew could answer, Elizabeth interjected, "It doesn't matter what tactic it is. The winning tactic is the best one. Since Jennifer is playing dirty, why should we play fair?"
Matthew applauded her, "Well said, Ms. Jones! We need to fight fire with fire."
Elizabeth added, "Jennifer started this with her underhanded tactics. We're just responding in kind."
Matthew sighed, "If only Michael were here. He could handle ten FutureTech Robotics Groups with ease."
Elizabeth lowered her head, "Jennifer thinks she can act recklessly because Michael isn't by my side. I thought I could handle everything on my own, but I overestimated myself."
Matthew patted her shoulder, "Elizabeth, you've done better than most. Don't be too hard on yourself. If everyone played fair, you might have won."
He changed the subject, "By the way, how's Michael doing in Majestic City? I heard he forgot about you and married someone else?"
Elizabeth nodded reluctantly, "Yeah, he did forget about me. But it's not his fault. Gerald took advantage of his injury and wiped his memory. When he woke up, he didn't remember me, but he remembered everything else."
Matthew understood, "So, he married someone else because of that?"
Elizabeth nodded, "He married Gerald's daughter, Cordelia. Gerald even forced him to have a child with her. This child will inherit everything from the Murphy family."
Matthew glanced at Elizabeth's face, unsure, "Doesn't it bother you that Michael will have a child with another woman? Doesn't it make you sad?"
Elizabeth shook her head, "I trust Michael. He told me the child with Cordelia would be a test-tube baby. He promised me he wouldn't sleep with her."
Matthew was surprised, "Gerald's daughter is famously beautiful, more so than many movie stars. Are you sure Michael won't fall for her, spending every day with her?"
Elizabeth shook her head, "I said I trust Michael, and I will. I've wronged him before and can't make the same mistake again. After everything we've been through, I've learned that trust and communication are more important than love in a marriage."
Matthew shrugged, "Well, I've never been married, so I can't understand your feelings."
Elizabeth suddenly remembered something, "Mr. Anderson, have you been in touch with Sherry lately?"
Matthew was taken aback by the mention of Sherry.
He quickly picked up his water glass to hide his embarrassment, but it was empty. He set it down with a clink.
He frowned slightly, "Weren't we talking about Michael? Why bring up Sherry?"
Elizabeth smiled, "We were talking about marriage, so I naturally thought of Sherry."
Matthew stood up, "Since we've finished discussing the investment, I'll head back to the office and get the contract drafted."
Elizabeth and Dean walked him to the door. Matthew hurried away.
Elizabeth watched him almost flee and couldn't help but smile.
Dean nudged her with his shoulder, "What are you smiling about, Elizabeth? Are you happy because the company's problems are solved?"
Elizabeth was lost in her thoughts and didn't hear Dean. She grabbed his arm and walked back to the office, "What did you say?"
Dean repeated, "I asked if you're happy because the company's problems are solved?"
"Of course, I'm happy. Aren't you?"
Dean tilted his head and smiled, "It's a relief to feel so relaxed. Having money really is great. Elizabeth, we need to work hard to make more money. Money makes things easier."
Elizabeth nodded, "I know that. But we've always been lazy, just getting by, haven't we?"
They entered the office, and Dean closed the door, suddenly looking worried, "Elizabeth, have you thought about the fact that the Jones Group won't be just the two of us making decisions anymore? With STellar Enterprises holding most of our shares, we'll have to follow their lead."
