Chapter 153 Who Stripped Off His Clothes?

Elizabeth kept munching on her breakfast. "No biggie. It's pretty normal for him to not come back. They hit up a bar last night. He probably had too much to drink and crashed at a hotel. Dean's always pulling all-nighters. Mom, you don't need to stress."

Nancy frowned. "If he drank too much, it's kinda risky for him to be out there alone. I wonder if he's had breakfast?"

Elizabeth shrugged. "It's cool. I'll give him a call in a bit."

Nancy sighed. "Elizabeth, you're divorced from Michael now. You're single. Have you thought about finding a guy to date seriously?"

Elizabeth raised an eyebrow. "Mom, why are you bringing this up all of a sudden?"

Nancy replied, "Dean's a good guy. He's good-looking, has a great personality, and treats you well. He's also great with Pearl and Nolan. But it doesn't seem like you two are in love. I think Louis is more your type."

Elizabeth suddenly lost her appetite. "Mom, yes, it's impossible for Dean and me to date or get married. He doesn't like me, and I don't like him. But we will always be good friends. But why did you bring up Louis again?"

Nancy looked at Elizabeth hopefully. "Elizabeth, when is Louis coming back to the country? Is he staying abroad forever?"

Elizabeth put down her utensils. "Mom, I'm full. I'm taking the kids out to play."

Nancy started clearing the table. "Every time I bring this up, you run away."

Elizabeth called Dean, but no one picked up.

She was used to this. So she put her phone away and went upstairs to find Nolan and Pearl.

In the king-size room of the Eclipse Hotel.

When Dean woke up, it was already noon.

He hadn't drunk that much in a long time.

He rubbed his head and sat up.

He looked around and realized he was in an unfamiliar hotel.

He looked down at himself, his eyes widening in confusion. He wasn't wearing anything.

Dean held his head, trying to recall last night.

Last night, the Jones Group had a staff dinner.

Last night, after the dinner gathering, everyone went to a bar and had some drinks.

Dean remembered that an employee from the tech department brought a young man along, someone with clear eyes and a delicate face.

His face didn't match his tall frame.

Right, that guy's name was Daniel.

Dean's last memory was Daniel getting drunk and falling into his arms.

So, why was he now in the hotel? Who brought him here? Who took off his clothes? Was he alone in this room last night? Was there anyone else?

Dean raised his hand and looked at it. The touch was still lingering, a ghost of someone's warmth on his fingertips. He remembered the smooth, delicate skin of the person's back, the feeling of their body pressed against his own.

It felt like he had held someone close and fallen into sleep, a sensation both comforting and unfamiliar. In the embrace, he had fallen into a deep, dreamlike state. A sense of fullness had bloomed in his chest, a strange, welcome warmth replacing the ache of loneliness that usually resided there.

To outsiders, he always seemed carefree and open-minded.

Only Elizabeth understood his sadness and loneliness.

Dean swung his long legs off the bed and went to the bathroom to shower.

After he finished, he picked up the clothes on the floor and slowly put them on.

The phone rang, and he glanced at the name on the screen. It was Elizabeth.

Immediately, he put on a smile, his tone becoming incredibly gentle. "Elizabeth. I thought you didn't care about me anymore."

Elizabeth's side was a bit noisy. "Dean, where'd you crash this time? My mom's been worried sick about you. She even saved you some breakfast, but now you can just go straight to lunch."

Dean chuckled. Nancy's care for him was like a warm blanket wrapped around his heart. It was one of the reasons he insisted on living with Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I'll be home soon."

Elizabeth said, "Okay. It's the weekend, and I took Nolan and Pearl out to play. If you're free, come home soon."

Dean replied, "Okay."

Calla sat in her room on the second floor of the Moonlit Grove.

She unwrapped the bandage on her hand and checked the burn. The wound was healing quickly. She opened a drawer, took out the ointment she used last time, and applied it to the wound, enduring the pain.

This was an ointment that would make the wound fester.

Calla hadn't thought of a good way to delay Eloise's treatment. Eloise's next surgery required more precision, which Calla couldn't handle.

She could only worsen her hand injury to buy more time. Otherwise, when Michael asked about Eloise's next surgery, she would have no reason to delay the surgery.

She had already asked her friends abroad to help her find an assistant. She was looking for someone who could perform the surgery on Eloise. As long as she offered a high enough price, she believed she could find the right person.

At the amusement park, Pearl and Nolan hadn't had enough fun yet. Elizabeth held each child's hand and led them out the gate. She squatted down and patiently said to them, "It's already late today. We'll come back next time. You two need to eat and drink something to replenish your energy."

Pearl asked expectantly, "Mom, can I have ice cream?"

Elizabeth made a face as if she was seriously thinking. "It's so hot today; I think it's okay."

Pearl happily hugged her and kissed her on the cheek. Elizabeth laughed. But suddenly, her smile froze.

Elizabeth stood up and pulled the two children behind her. "Michael, what are you doing here?"

She looked coldly at Michael, who had suddenly appeared in front of them.

After receiving messages from Daniel, Michael went to the gate of Whispering Pines Estates. The security guards wouldn't let him in, so he had to sit in his car and wait.

He was lucky; it wasn't long before he saw Elizabeth's Range Rover drive out. He instructed the driver, "Follow them."

The Rolls-Royce followed the Range Rover to the amusement park. Michael didn't dare get out of the car immediately. He was afraid his appearance would ruin their family's good mood.

He had been waiting for them near the entrance of the amusement park. Elizabeth saw him appear and a guarded expression crossed her face.

Michael stared intently at her face, not missing a single change in her expression. "Elizabeth, Nolan is your adopted child. So, what about this little girl? Is she also adopted? Did you adopt a pair of twins? This girl looks exactly like you! Are you still going to deny it?"

Elizabeth looked up at him without any guilt. "Yes, she's my biological daughter!"
