Chapter 154 We Are Not the Kind of Relationship You Think

Pearl peeked out from behind Elizabeth, giving Michael the stink eye.

She pressed her lips together and glared at him, like she was saying, "You're a bad guy!"

Michael was baffled. Why did this little kid, Pearl, have it out for him?

It must be Elizabeth who spoke ill of him behind his back!

What kind of stuff was she feeding these kids?

How did she introduce him to them?

Michael said, "So you finally admit this kid is yours? She's four now, right? So, you got pregnant and had a kid while we were married, and I had no clue?"

Elizabeth didn't back down. "If I had told you, would you have let me keep her?"

Michael took a step back, stunned.

Back then, he had forced her to have an abortion, and she hated him for it.

Michael thought of something else. "Elizabeth, who's the father of the kid?"

His eyes turned red, and his tone got icy.

Elizabeth's lips curled into a cold smile. "Whoever it is, it's definitely not you."

She took the kids' hands and headed towards the car.

Michael lunged forward and grabbed her arm. "Elizabeth! Whose daughter is she?"

Elizabeth glanced at him indifferently. "I don't know. The sperm bank doesn't give out donor names."

Michael couldn't believe it. "You love kids that much? Even if it means having a child from some random guy?"

Elizabeth grew impatient, retorting, "You hate kids that much? Even your own, you wanted to kill in my womb? Do you realize how cruel you are?"

Michael saw her eyes redden and slowly let go of her arm.

This was a wound that would never heal for her, right?

It had also become a weapon she used against him.

Whenever this came up, he felt guilty.

But he didn't regret it.

He softened his tone, "That Dean guy by your side, do you know his background? Do you know he might not even like women?"

Elizabeth's eyes widened. "How do you know that?"

Dean was a hacker. He had erased all videos and info about himself online.

No one could find anything on him.

Michael watched her expression. "Does this mean you knew all along?"

Elizabeth, not wanting to discuss Dean any further, replied with a tone of impatience. "Michael, do you have anything else to say? It's the weekend. Why don't you go relax? Or go check on your Eloise. Or spend time with Calla. Take them out to eat, shop, watch a movie, can't you? Stop bothering me, okay? I just want to live a peaceful life far away from you."

Michael frowned deeply. "Elizabeth, you know very well that I don't love Calla at all."

Elizabeth laughed in exasperation. "What does it matter to me whether you love her or not? We're divorced. Who you love is your business. Even if you love both Calla and Eloise at the same time, what does it have to do with me? Michael, nothing you do can hurt me anymore!"

Hearing her words, Michael suddenly felt a pang of pain in his heart. "Elizabeth, have I ever told you that Eloise and I are not what you think?"

Elizabeth found him unreasonable. "When did you ever tell me? It's been four years. You've had countless opportunities to explain to me. But in your heart, Eloise is sacrosanct. Her existence didn't even need to be mentioned to me. After all, someone as insignificant as me doesn't deserve your explanation, right? That was your thought back then, wasn't it? Michael, she is still the most important person in your heart. But I no longer care!"

Michael stared at her, his eyes filled with pain. "Elizabeth, it's not like that."

Elizabeth had no patience for this conversation. The kids had played at the amusement park all afternoon; they were tired and hungry. They needed to recharge.

She pushed Michael away and left with the kids without looking back. "If you want to explain, go explain to your girlfriend Calla. I don't need it anymore."

Before leaving, both kids turned to give him a heavy "humph."

Michael watched their backs and felt despondent.

Monday morning at Stellar Enterprises, Daniel was dressed differently than usual.

As the assistant to the president of Stellar Enterprises, he usually didn't like wearing shirts and suits.

He only wore them when accompanying Michael to important events.

Normally, he wore hoodies or T-shirts.

But today, with no important events, Daniel was wearing a shirt and even a tie, making him suddenly look very serious.

Matthew saw his outfit and his eyes widened. "Daniel, is there an important event you're attending today? Or are you going on a blind date?"

Daniel lightly coughed, tugged at his collar, and ignored the teasing.

He held some documents and knocked on the president's office door.

Michael saw him and stared at him for a few seconds.

Daniel felt uncomfortable under his gaze.

As soon as Michael finished signing the documents, Daniel quickly gathered them and left.

Normally, he liked to chat with Michael for a while.

Michael watched his almost fleeing figure, rubbing his chin thoughtfully.

Soon, Matthew knocked and entered.

As soon as he came in, he closed the door behind him and walked to Michael's desk, asking, "Michael, did you notice that Daniel is acting a bit strange today?"

Michael nodded.

What was going on with Daniel?

Daniel seemed to have something he didn't want them to know.

Michael suddenly remembered the message Daniel had sent him on Friday night. He wondered if it was what he thought.

He said to Matthew, "Turn the air conditioning to heating mode."

Matthew widened his eyes in confusion. "Are you planning to take a sauna? Aren't you afraid of getting too hot?"

Michael went into the inner lounge, took off his long-sleeved shirt, and changed into a short-sleeved one.

Then he dialed the intercom. "Daniel, come over and help me organize some documents."

Soon, Daniel pushed the door open and entered.

Michael gave Matthew a look.

Matthew handed Daniel a cup of hot coffee.

Daniel didn't suspect anything and took a sip.

Then he and Matthew started organizing the documents.

Soon, Daniel was sweating profusely.

He tugged at his tie, then unbuttoned his collar, releasing two more buttons in quick succession.

Matthew, who was right next to him, kept secretly observing him.

Suddenly, he shouted, "Daniel, what's wrong with your neck? Did a mosquito bite you? So many spots, how much blood did that mosquito suck from you?"

Daniel hurriedly buttoned up his shirt.

His face was flushed red, and there seemed to be tears in his eyes.

Michael picked up the remote and switched the air conditioning mode. Soon, cool air started blowing in the room.

Michael left his seat and walked up to Daniel.

He asked seriously, "Daniel, what exactly happened?"
