Chapter 521 Coincidence
Elizabeth let out a sigh of relief. "Alright, Sherry, I'll call security at the gate and have them let Matthew in. When you see him, don't let his threats get to you. I've got your back."
Sherry thanked her sincerely. "Thanks, Elizabeth. You're busy looking for Michael, and here I am bothering you with my problems. I'm really sorry."
"It's okay. I've been to the accident site. I think if Michael was really in trouble there, someone might have rescued him."
"Finding him would be like searching for a needle in a haystack! It's too difficult!"
"Not really. I have Dean, and he's incredibly resourceful. He's already tracked down Michael's whereabouts. He's alive. Next, I'm heading to Majestic City."
"That's good to hear. Elizabeth, good luck."
Sherry exhaled deeply, hung up the phone, and walked out the door.
Although she and Michael were siblings, there wasn't much affection between them now. She just felt that as Elizabeth's husband, Michael shouldn't have met such an early demise, given how much Elizabeth loved him.
She hoped he was alive and well, so Elizabeth could be a bit happier.
Sherry went downstairs to the living room.
Soon, Matthew rang the doorbell.
Susan opened the door for him.
Matthew walked into the living room and immediately saw Sherry on the couch. His steps suddenly became heavy.
He adjusted his breathing, slowly walked over, and sat next to Sherry.
Sherry immediately stood up and moved to the single armchair opposite him.
"Matthew, you wanted to see me? Go ahead, what do you need?"
Matthew looked at her, hesitating before speaking. "Sherry, I know who the father of your baby is."
Sherry took small bites of her apple. "And then?"
Matthew swallowed hard. "Since you're carrying my child, I'll take responsibility for both of you. I'll marry you and ensure you have everything you need."
Sherry chewed her apple slowly. "Why? Just because I'm pregnant with your child, I have to be under your control? Do I lose my right to choose and my freedom because of a baby? Why should I keep him? I could just go to the hospital and get rid of him."
Matthew stood up, breathing heavily. "No! Don't get rid of him!"
Sherry glared at him. "He's in my belly. Why should I follow your arrangements?"
Matthew extended his hands, signaling Sherry to calm down.
"Sherry, I'm sorry. I'm here to ask for your forgiveness. I shouldn't have said those hurtful things. That wasn't my intention. I never meant to hurt you. It was my fault."
Sherry's eyes suddenly turned red. She turned her face away, looking at the TV, her voice carrying a hint of a sob. "Why should I forgive you? Just because you say sorry, I have to forgive you? My heart was clearly hurt."
Matthew quickly said, "I know. I understand. My words hurt you deeply. I made you sad. Can you come back to the apartment with me? I want to take good care of you."
Sherry glanced at him indifferently. "Thank you, Matthew, but I don't need your shelter and care anymore."
Matthew's eyes widened. "Why not?"
Sherry found a comfortable position on the couch. "Elizabeth is taking me in and willing to care for me."
Matthew persisted. "But do you have money to raise the child? You can't keep spending Elizabeth's money forever."
"That's not something you need to worry about. Elizabeth's willing to take care of me."
Matthew left, feeling frustrated.
Nolan walked over. "Did Matthew leave?"
Sherry smiled at him. "Yeah, he's gone." She sat next to Nolan. "Nolan, you're so good to me."
Nolan blushed. The usually stoic Nolan seemed a bit flustered.
Sherry laughed and looked at him. "Nolan, how old are you this year? You're almost as tall as me!"
Pearl was coming down the stairs and heard this. She laughed and said, "Nolan and I are almost ten years old!"
She walked to the couch, glanced at Nolan's expression, and widened her eyes in surprise, covering her mouth with her hand.
She leaned close to Sherry's ear and whispered, "What did you say to Nolan? Why is his face so red? I've never seen him like this before."
Sherry was a bit confused. "What? I didn't say anything."
In Majestic City, Elizabeth and her bodyguard got off the plane and headed straight for Gerald's private estate.
The bodyguard hurriedly followed her. "Ms. Jones, are you sure Mr. Thomas is around here?"
Elizabeth's face was serious. "I'm sure."
She wouldn't reveal too much to the bodyguard. Dean had checked the traffic cameras around the accident site and tracked Michael's whereabouts.
After the accident, Michael was quickly taken away by a luxury car.
Dean investigated and found that the car belonged to Gerald.
He showed Elizabeth the roadside surveillance footage, and she immediately recognized the man approaching Michael as Gerald, who had once tried to stop their wedding. She had only seen him once, but his gaze held no kindness.
So, she had no good impression of the "Gerald" that Michael spoke of.
Gerald's gaze was like a snake hissing, making people feel uncomfortable.
Elizabeth couldn't help but wonder if the accident was an accident or a deliberate act.
Michael was always cautious, and the Phantom's driver was experienced. A mere mountain road, even in the rain, shouldn't have caused such an easy accident.
Gerald usually stayed in Majestic City, so why did he suddenly come to Aurora Bay? And right when Michael lost the group's shares.
In short, everything was too coincidental. She had to get Michael out first. She didn't trust him being with Gerald.
As for the truth, it could be investigated later. The most important thing now was Michael's safety.
Elizabeth didn't know much about Gerald, so she decided to contact Matthew.
Matthew was furious when he heard Gerald had taken Michael.
"What? Gerald took Michael? At a time like this, he's just using him!"
Elizabeth felt uneasy, sensing something bad. She frowned and asked, "What do you mean? Is something big happening in Majestic City recently?"
Matthew paced in his apartment living room, anxious. "The Murphy family's old patriarch is critically ill. There's no decision on his successor yet. The Murphy family is in a deadlock. Gerald taking Michael now is probably to get Michael to help him secure the patriarch position."
Matthew suddenly stopped, as if realizing something. "I'm afraid the car accident has hidden motives."
Elizabeth's delicate brows furrowed deeply. "I think so too. Everything happened too coincidentally."
