Chapter 426 Inside Man
But what she owed Eloise was way more than just this.
Eloise was like a shooting star, passing by in a flash. Her heart was as pure and beautiful as crystal.
Elizabeth sighed as she thought about it.
Pearl and Nolan were about to start school, so Dean took them back to Celestria first.
Quinn had just undergone surgery, so Elizabeth had to stay behind to handle some follow-up matters.
When Daniel heard that Dean was back, he brought gifts for Pearl and Nolan to Whispering Pines Estates over the weekend.
Nolan looked at him coldly. Pearl didn't greet him either.
They seemed to deliberately ignore Daniel's presence, turning away to continue playing with their building blocks.
Daniel awkwardly glanced at Dean.
Dean cleared his throat and walked over to the kids with a smile. "Pearl, Nolan, are you still mad at Michael?"
Nolan shot him a look. "You already know the answer!"
Dean chuckled. "Don't you want to know what he's up to?"
Pearl kept building her blocks. "Not interested."
Dean persisted. "Come on, sweetheart. Don't treat Daniel like an enemy, okay? Do it for me. He's my good friend."
Nolan looked up. "But he's Michael's closest person."
Dean laughed. "Nolan, you're wrong. Your mom is your dad's closest person."
Nolan heard this and lowered his head, ignoring him.
Daniel walked over with the gifts. "Nolan, I work at your dad's company, and he pays me a salary. But that's it. I'm actually Dean's inside man at your dad's company."
Pearl perked up at this. "Will you betray his secrets?"
Daniel almost broke into a sweat. "Only to you guys. Outside, I'm still loyal to him."
Pearl nodded, losing interest. "Oh."
Daniel pulled out a flyer for Fantasy City Amusement Park. "Pearl, Nolan, do you want to go out and have some fun? Staying at home is boring. Dean and I can take you to the amusement park."
Dean took the flyer. "Daniel, are you kidding me? Isn't this your company's project?"
Daniel defended himself. "That's exactly why I know it's fun and recommended it."
Dean was skeptical. "You haven't been bribed by your boss, have you? He won't be waiting for us there, right?"
Daniel rolled his eyes. "Is my boss that free? It's the weekend, and instead of enjoying his time off, he'd come to an amusement park?"
He added, "This park and the Murder Mystery venue are part of STellar Enterprises' entertainment strategy. Since it was built, I've only seen him visit once, even though many of the ideas were his own."
Dean turned to the kids. "Nolan, Pearl, what do you think? Do you want to go?"
Pearl immediately got excited. "Dean, I want to go! The vacation is almost over, and I haven't had a chance to have fun yet."
She tugged on Nolan's sleeve. "Nolan, let's go together, okay?"
Nolan gently brushed her hand away. "You guys go. I'm not interested in kid stuff."
Daniel explained. "Nolan, Fantasy City Amusement Park has many adult attractions and things for older kids. It's not just for little kids."
Nolan shook his head firmly. "I'm not going. What if we run into Michael? I don't want to ruin my mood. Besides, he hasn't earned Mom's forgiveness yet. Mom wouldn't want us to meet Michael."
Daniel assured him, "Nolan, it's the weekend. Mr. Thomas is definitely at home, not going out."
Nolan still hesitated. "But I don't want to take advantage of him."
Dean said, "We're buying tickets, so we're giving him money."
Pearl tugged on his sleeve again. "Nolan, please, come with me. I haven't been to an amusement park in ages."
Nolan's expression finally softened. He bit his lip.
Dean gave Daniel a look. Daniel immediately said, "We'll just wait in line like everyone else, not using the VIP entrance. No one will notice us."
Nolan reluctantly nodded. "Alright."
Pearl cheered. "Great! Let's go!"
The four of them drove to Fantasy City Amusement Park, and the entrance was already packed with people.
Daniel was stunned. He hadn't expected the new project to be so popular.
Dean sighed. "Does everyone have nowhere else to go? How are we supposed to have fun with this crowd?"
Nolan held onto Pearl to keep her from getting lost in the crowd.
Daniel apologized to Nolan. "Nolan, I'm sorry. I didn't know there would be so many people."
Dean comforted him. "It's okay. You couldn't have predicted this."
Nolan looked at Pearl. "Do you still want to play? If you do, I'll stay with you. But be prepared to wait in line for a long time."
Pearl was still excited. "I like playing with lots of kids. But I didn't expect there to be so many here."
She pulled Nolan towards one of the attractions. "Nolan, there are fewer people over there. Let's go line up."
Nolan followed her, lining up at the end of the queue. More people quickly joined behind them.
Daniel whispered, "This might take over an hour."
Dean replied, "Then we won't be able to do many attractions today."
Daniel quietly asked Pearl, "Pearl, do you really not want to use the VIP entrance?"
Pearl looked up. "Does that mean we don't have to wait in line?"
Daniel nodded. "It's a perk for Stellar Enterprises' senior employees. I have this privilege, and my guests can use the VIP entrance. There are fewer people there because there aren't many senior employees."
Pearl glanced at Nolan, who nodded at her.
Pearl excitedly nodded at Daniel. "Let's go, Daniel."
Daniel breathed a sigh of relief. He and Dean led Pearl and Nolan to the VIP entrance and into the park.
At the ticket checkpoint, Daniel showed his employee ID, and the staff member glanced at him.
Dean noticed the look and quickly pulled Daniel aside.
After registering, the staff member opened the gate for them.
Pearl ran inside, cheering. Nolan followed closely behind. Daniel and Dean stayed right by their side.
Dean elbowed Daniel. "You said you were on my side, but it looks like you're helping your boss improve his image."
Daniel tried to appease him by squeezing his shoulder. "Dean, don't expose me. I just feel sorry for our boss and want to help him."
Dean held his arm. "Daniel, really? You promised to be on Elizabeth and my side. Are you trying to bring Michael here? If Elizabeth finds out, do you think she'll kick me out?"
