Chapter 495 Suspicion

Thinking about Quinn, Sherry suddenly realized it had been forever since she last saw that goofball.

She wondered if he was doing alright. He had found his real family, so he should be happy now.

No matter where he was, it had to be better than being stuck in the Reed Villa.

She entered her room and tidied up a bit. Since Matthew had dragged her away tonight, she definitely couldn't go back to the bar.

She wondered how the bar owner would dock her pay. She'd have to ask about it when she went to work tomorrow night. She couldn't afford to lose this job right now.

For tonight, she'd just have to deal with it. If she angered Matthew and he kicked her out, she'd end up on the streets, which would be even worse.

At the Thomas Mansion.

Elizabeth was on the second floor helping Pearl set up her room.

Michael had already had the servants prepare most of it, but Pearl had a lot of her own ideas about the room she was going to move into.

She was still young and couldn't do many of the tasks herself, so she gave the instructions while Elizabeth and Michael helped her carry them out.

For example, she wanted a slide installed next to her bed so she could play on it whenever she wanted.

As they were busy, Elizabeth's phone rang.

She picked it up and saw it was a message from Louis.

[Eloise's condition can't wait much longer.]

She frowned deeply.

Michael noticed her change in mood and came over, concerned. "What's wrong?"

Elizabeth stood up. "Nothing, I just need some fresh air. By the way, is the room next to this one Eloise's?"

Michael was taken aback by the mention of Eloise's name but nodded. "Yeah."

Elizabeth asked cautiously, "Can I sit in there for a bit? I won't touch anything."

Michael nodded. "Sure."

He watched her walk out, clearly preoccupied.

He didn't follow her. His intuition told him that the message had disturbed her.

He even suspected it had something to do with Eloise.

Elizabeth sat in Eloise's room, her hands supporting her forehead.

She was deeply troubled. She desperately wanted to help Eloise, but she couldn't bear the thought of using Michael's hard-earned efforts as a bargaining chip.

If she let Michael make the choice himself, he would undoubtedly give it up without hesitation.

But he would be mocked, ridiculed, and bullied.

Elizabeth looked up and sighed heavily. She gazed at Eloise's portrait on the wall and whispered, "Eloise, tell me, what should I do?"

She didn't know that since Eloise's departure, Michael had installed several cameras in the house to prevent anyone from entering the room without permission.

At that moment, Michael turned on the camera feed. He saw Elizabeth's pained expression and heard her anguished question.

Michael frowned. What had she been going through lately? What difficult choices was she facing?

Since they started in Aetheria, she had become unpredictable. After they returned home, he felt that sometimes her mind was elsewhere.

He exited the camera interface and called his bodyguard.

"Nico, get in touch with Anthony. I need to see him as soon as possible."

Two hours later, Anthony appeared at Serenity Brew Cafe.

Facing Michael, Anthony, despite knowing that Michael was no longer his uncle, still felt an innate sense of intimidation that made him unable to look Michael in the eye.

"My uncle, oh no, Michael, or Mr. Thomas, what do you need from me?"

Michael uncrossed his legs and stared at him. "What have you been up to lately?"

Anthony stammered, "What I'm up to is none of your business, Mr. Thomas."

Michael smirked. "You've grown bold, talking back to me."

Anthony reflexively raised his hand to shield his face, expecting Michael to hit him.

But Michael simply recrossed his legs and looked at him sideways. "Why has Elizabeth been meeting you here?"

Anthony laughed, unsure where he found the courage. "What, you think your wife is rekindling an old flame with me? Are you that insecure?"

His smile hadn't even faded when he was hit hard in the face.

Nico picked up a napkin from the table, wiped his hand, and disdainfully tossed the napkin into the nearby trash can.

Michael glared at him. "Are you going to talk?"

Anthony held his mouth, wanting to shout but not daring to. "Talk about what? This is between you and Elizabeth. Why drag me into it? If you want the truth, just ask Elizabeth directly. Why hit me?"

Michael frowned. He hadn't expected Anthony to actually stand up to him.

He sighed lightly and stood up. "Nico, let's go."

Anthony watched in disbelief as Michael walked away. He couldn't believe Michael had let him off so easily.

As soon as Michael's figure disappeared out the door, Anthony quickly called Elizabeth.

"Elizabeth, Michael just came to see me! How did he know we met? And that we met at the cafe? Is he having you followed? Are you two on the rocks?"

Elizabeth was shocked by the call.

Michael following her? No way. He had always acted so loving, even saying he'd give her all his assets.

When did he start doubting her?

Anthony hung up and called William.

"Dad, the plan might need to change. We should agree to Elizabeth's request."

William's voice was cold. "What do you mean?"

"Michael knows about our meetings with Elizabeth. He might confront her. If they divorce, we get nothing."

"How do you know?"

"Dad! Michael just came to see me!"

William pondered. "Come back. We'll discuss it."

Anthony covered the phone, afraid of being overheard. "Dad, we need to give Quinn to Elizabeth now! Before they fall apart, let's get some benefits from Elizabeth first!"

William hesitated. "Ask her."

Soon, Anthony relayed Elizabeth's response to William. "Elizabeth said to take Quinn for a test to see if he's a match. If not, we don't need to do anything."

William agreed reluctantly. "Fine. I'll take the fool to the hospital."

That night, at the Thomas Mansion, in the master bedroom.

Elizabeth changed into her nightgown and sat at the vanity. Michael lay on the bed, looking at his phone.

After finishing her skincare routine, Elizabeth lifted the corner of the blanket and got into bed.

Just then, her phone rang.

Elizabeth instinctively looked at Michael.

He didn't move.

Feeling uneasy, Elizabeth checked her phone.

It was a message from Anthony with Quinn's test results.

She immediately forwarded the report to Louis.

Michael, still looking at his phone, asked casually, "Who messaged you this late?"
