Chapter 42 You Want to be Alone with Me?
She still hadn't figured out how to introduce Michael to Sarah, and there was no way she could let them meet.
Michael kept an eye on Elizabeth the whole way, curious about the changing expressions on her face. 'It's just a movie, why's she overthinking it?'
Or maybe, he invited her to a movie, and she was flattered and overly excited?
But she didn't look excited at all.
She looked more like she wanted to bolt halfway through.
After the driver dropped Michael and Elizabeth off at the cinema, he took off.
Elizabeth glanced up and saw Michael's bodyguards waiting for them.
The bodyguards escorted Michael into the cinema.
He led them to the second floor of the screening room through the VIP passage.
Elizabeth curiously scoped out the small private room on the second floor.
She used to hit up the cinema often to catch flicks.
But she never knew there were private rooms inside the screening room, like the boxes in a grand theater.
Elizabeth and Michael plopped down on the couch.
Elizabeth asked him, "Since we can watch the public screening from a private room, why not just go to the VIP screening room?"
Michael stared at her, raising an eyebrow, "You wanna be alone with me? You sure? Since you brought it up, we can try it next time."
After Michael finished speaking, he gave her a mysterious look.
Hearing this, Elizabeth quickly waved her hands and said, "No need, I was just curious. I've never been to this kind of private room before, it's pretty cool. Watching the same movie with everyone else is quite lively. Just the two of us makes the room kinda too quiet."
After saying this, Elizabeth turned around and wiped the non-existent sweat from her forehead.
Originally, Elizabeth was worried that if they went to the main screening hall, they might run into Sarah.
Now she wasn't worried about that at all, and she hurled herself comfortably into the couch, waiting for the movie to start.
From the second floor, she could see the audience seats on the first floor clearly.
Elizabeth saw Sarah sitting with a girl she didn't recognize, the two of them munching on popcorn and chatting.
But Elizabeth couldn't hear what they were saying.
As soon as the movie started, Elizabeth got a message from Sarah.
Sarah: [Elizabeth, I actually saw Michael! The richest guy in Aurora Bay! I saw him on the financial news channel. I didn't expect him to be taller, more handsome, and more charismatic in person than on TV! I bet he wouldn't sit in the public screening hall like us civilians, he must have gone to one of the private rooms on the second floor. Because I saw a bunch of the private rooms with their lights on. Elizabeth, I'll update you on the plot later.]
Elizabeth read the message, feeling terrified.
She looked towards where Sarah was sitting and saw Sarah looking up in the direction of her private room.
Elizabeth was so scared that she quickly lowered her head and fell onto Michael.
Michael was watching the screen, but out of the corner of his eye, he saw Elizabeth reading a message. Suddenly, Elizabeth's upper body fell onto him.
Elizabeth was also startled by her own action. She was just thinking about not being seen by her friend, but in her excitement, she ended up falling between Michael's legs.
Elizabeth's right hand wrapped around Michael's waist.
Her left hand rested on Michael's right leg.
As she got closer, Michael's body instantly tensed up, sitting like a statue.
Elizabeth felt her face must be tomato-red by now.
She scrunched up her face, closed her eyes, and scooted away from Michael.
Elizabeth wished there was a hole in the ground she could crawl into right then.
Her phone dinged with another message.
She opened it and saw it was from Sarah again.
Sarah: [Elizabeth, I actually saw Michael's private room! The light is on in there. He brought a woman to watch a movie! That Michael who never gets close to women! And they were hugging in the private room! That's so bold! But Elizabeth, what's strange is that the woman's hairstyle and back look a lot like yours. If I didn't know you, I would have thought that woman was you. Of course, I know you wouldn't do something so bold.]
Elizabeth finished reading the message and quickly turned off the small light in the private room.
The room suddenly went dark.
Elizabeth didn't see Michael's slightly upturned lips at that moment.
Michael asked in a low voice, "Elizabeth, why'd you turn off the light? Planning to do something with me that you don't want others to see?"
Elizabeth looked at him in horror and whispered, "Michael, what are you thinking? This is a cinema! In public, don't I have any shame?"
Michael smirked, "Oh? So, if we're not in public, you have no shame? Just like when I wasn't fully awake? I wonder who it was just now, so unreservedly falling onto me?"
Elizabeth's face turned red again, but luckily it was dark, and no one could see her.
She stammered, "I didn't do it on purpose. I just saw my good friend in the audience below. She just suddenly looked back and glanced at you, I was afraid she would find out we were together."
Michael's face immediately turned cold.
Elizabeth didn't notice at all.
She added, "Michael, think about it, if you were discovered, wouldn't a bunch of people surround you for autographs and photos? As a public figure, do you want to be chased and blocked in the cinema? Is that a good scene?"
Michael didn't argue, indicating his agreement.
As soon as Elizabeth finished speaking, Sarah's message came through.
Sarah: [Elizabeth, my classmate just told me that after the movie ends, she wants to get a photo with Michael. I'm going to get a photo with him, too. Let me show you how handsome Michael is. He's my idol! My goal! My role model!]
Seeing this message, Elizabeth quickly pulled Michael, "Michael, let's go, now."
Michael looked at her curiously.
Weren't women supposed to like watching movies?
He asked, "The movie just started for a few minutes, and you want to leave? What about the moive?"
Elizabeth anxiously pulled him up, "No. My classmate just told me she really wants to get a photo with you!"
Hearing this, Michael decisively stood up and left through the VIP passage with her.
After all, he wasn't interested in watching the movie in the first place.
He came here for her.
