Chapter 269 Her Voice

Elizabeth stared at the test report, feeling all sorts of emotions.

She skimmed through the other reports, but nothing seemed off.

She figured she should head to the hospital for an ultrasound to see if she was really pregnant.

Before she knew it, she was driving to Hope Hospital.

The ultrasound confirmed it—she was pregnant.

Sitting on a bench outside the exam room, her mind was racing.

Should she tell Michael? This was his kid, after all. He had wanted her to have his child.

This time, he wouldn't push for an abortion.

But did they even need to see each other again?

The last incident had nearly cost Michael his life.

If he had died, his bodyguards would have probably taken her to court and thrown her in jail.

Calla's baby was gone, and their engagement was off.

From Mary's last call, Elizabeth still had no clue what went down between Calla and Anthony.

She also didn't know if Calla and Michael were still a thing.

Right now, Elizabeth sat in the busy corridor, head in her hands, feeling overwhelmed.

This baby couldn't have come at a worse time.

She was planning to break things off with Michael for good, but now she was pregnant. How could they break up with his baby on the way?

So, should she tell him?

Tell him she was pregnant with his kid again?

She ran her hands through her hair in frustration.

Hospitals were full of worried people every day. No one noticed the beautiful woman with a troubled face in the corridor.

Elizabeth decided she had to tell Michael in person.

This baby was something he always wanted.

He deserved to be part of the decision about the baby's future.

With that, Elizabeth stood up and headed towards the surgical building.

She got to Michael's ward, but the bodyguard at the door stopped her. "Sorry, Ms. Jones. The doctor said Mr. Thomas just woke up and needs rest."

Elizabeth had checked at the nurse's station before coming. Michael was out of danger and could have visitors.

Was the bodyguard stopping her because Michael told him to?

After all, the bodyguard wouldn't make that call on his own.

Elizabeth peeked through the glass window on the door.

The curtain was drawn, so she couldn't see Michael.

The bodyguard moved to grab her. "Ms. Jones, don't make me use force."

Elizabeth turned and said, "I have something really important to tell Michael. Can I just go in and say one sentence?"

The bodyguard didn't budge. "Ms. Jones, you know who's responsible for Mr. Thomas's injuries, right?"

Elizabeth kept trying. "I just need to say one sentence."

The bodyguard replied, "Then I won't be polite."

Hearing this, Elizabeth sighed and left.

The bodyguard's tough stance seemed to be Michael's orders.

If that was the case, why make things harder for everyone?

If she forced her way in and Michael got mad, he might take it out on the bodyguard.

She didn't want the bodyguard to lose his job.

Had her relationship with Michael gone back to square one?

No, it was worse than square one.

Now, in Michael's mind, she was responsible for two lives: Calla's baby and his mother. And now, almost him.

Elizabeth didn't take the elevator. She walked down the stairs, each step feeling heavier than the last.

She thought, 'If I "accidentally" missed a step and tumbled down the stairs, would I lose the baby?'

Inside the ward, Eloise was feeding Michael some fruit.

Michael frowned and asked, "Eloise, did you hear Elizabeth's voice?"

Eloise looked at him and said, "Michael, are you missing Elizabeth? Is that why you're hearing things? Maybe it's because you lost too much blood. Don't worry, let Susan cook you some good meals to get your strength back."

Michael listened closely, but there was no sound.

So, was he really hearing things?

Was it because he missed Elizabeth too much?

He had done such terrible things to her before, she must hate him. Why would she come to see him?

She probably wished he was dead, right?

If he died, there'd be no one to force her to do things she didn't want to do.

Meanwhile, Elizabeth walked out of the surgical building in a daze and drove back to the Jones Group.

As soon as Dean saw her, he asked, "Elizabeth, what's wrong? You look so pale. Is the test result bad? Is your stomach really having problems? It's okay; whatever it is, we'll work with the doctors. With today's medical technology, any disease can be treated."

Elizabeth interrupted him, "Dean, I need to be alone for a while."

Dean nodded and watched her go into the president's office.

He then went back to his own office, thinking about how to help Elizabeth.

Elizabeth returned to her office, closed the door, and sat in her chair, her mind a mess.

When she was pregnant with Nolan and Pearl, she wanted to keep them, but Michael kept pushing for an abortion.

Now, he wanted this baby, but she didn't want to keep it.

With her financial situation, raising three kids wasn't hard. Plus, Dean would definitely help her.

But she knew how this baby was conceived.

It wasn't out of love. It was because Michael forced her. It was a symbol of revenge.

Would this child be happy in the future?

But if she chose to have an abortion, would Michael forgive her?

Would he go crazy again? Would he force her to have another child?

Probably not. Now, he probably didn't want to see her anymore.

Elizabeth's thoughts were still in turmoil when her phone suddenly rang.

It was Carter. "Elizabeth, how's your company's marketing plan going?" he asked.

Elizabeth was a bit confused and didn't react immediately. "Marketing?" she asked.

Carter said, "I heard that a new household robot from FutureTech Robotics Group just hit the market. It's much cheaper than the Jones Group's product. I also heard they've signed a popular internet celebrity to promote it. Looks like FutureTech Robotics Group is targeting you."

Elizabeth frowned. "FutureTech Robotics Group? Jennifer's company?"

Carter replied, "Yeah, the president's name is Jennifer. Do you know her?"

Elizabeth replied, "I know her more than just a little. She was my former stepmother and the enemy who killed my parents."

Carter said, "I see! Elizabeth, I want to help you."

Elizabeth smiled bitterly. "Carter, this is a personal grudge between me and her. I'll handle it myself. You just focus on your music and stay out of it. Jennifer is despicable and uses underhanded tactics. Don't get involved with her."

But Carter insisted, "Elizabeth, I can really help you. Trust me."
