Chapter 122 It's Definitely a Conspiracy
Michael's phone rang, and he answered it.
The man on the other end reported, "Mr. Thomas, the hacker team we hired has found the hacker's IP. He's the one who sabotaged the surveillance system at Global Horizons International School."
Michael asked coldly, "Where is the IP address?"
The man hesitated a bit but still said, "At the old mansion."
Michael frowned, "The old mansion? Who?"
This time, the man answered without hesitation, "Your nephew, Anthony."
Michael hung up, his eyes were ablaze with fury.
He got into the car, and the driver floored the gas pedal, heading straight for the old mansion.
William was at home. When he saw Michael storming in, he reluctantly got to his feet and asked with a strained smile, "Michael, you're here? Why are you so angry? Who upset you?"
Michael coldly scanned the room. There was no sign of Anthony.
His voice was icy, "Where's Anthony?"
When William heard he was looking for Anthony, he smiled and said, "He must be in his room. I'll go get him."
"No need." Michael coldly threw out these words and, with his bodyguards, headed straight for Anthony's room. At the door, the bodyguards kicked it open.
Anthony was lying on the bed, engrossed in playing a mobile game.
Two bodyguards stepped forward, each grabbing an arm, and dragged Anthony off the bed, pressing him down in front of Michael.
Still immersed in the happiness of his video games, Anthony yelled when he was forcibly taken away from his games.
Kneeling on the ground, Anthony looked up and asked Michael, "Michael, what's going on? Did I make you angry again?"
Michael sat on the couch in the bedroom, staring coldly at Anthony, "Anthony, you've got some nerve! I really underestimated you before! Tell me, where is Eloise? Why did you hack into the surveillance system at Global Horizons International School? Why did you take Eloise? What did you do to her? I warn you, if you dare to harm her, I'll make your life a living hell! Even if you are my nephew, I won't let you off!"
Anthony was trembling with fear at Michael's fury, kneeling on the ground. He hadn't yet processed what had happened and had no idea how to defend himself.
William hurried in, "Michael, what are you doing? What hacker? Are you talking about Anthony? He's so useless, how could he be a hacker? You're his uncle, don't you know him? How could he have such abilities? Is there some misunderstanding here? You better check it out carefully."
Michael signaled to the two bodyguards. They began searching Anthony's room for his laptop and phone.
The bodyguards acknowledged and took Anthony's computer and phone. Soon, they returned with Anthony's belongings.
One of the bodyguards said, "Mr. Thomas, there's something wrong with this phone."
When Anthony heard this, he immediately started crying, "Michael! I knew there is something wrong with my phone! It's because of this damn phone that I broke up with Seraphina. We were getting along so well, but then this phone somehow found the nude photos in my private album and sent them to Seraphina. Those photos were locked in my private album, just for me to see. How could I send them to anyone else? Especially Seraphina, our relationship wasn't that solid yet. How could I send those kinds of photos to her? This phone definitely has a problem."
Michael glanced at him, "What's wrong with the phone? Tell me."
Anthony, on his knees, shuffled two steps closer towards Michael. Just as his hand was about to touch Michael's knee, the bodyguard gave him a fierce look, scaring Anthony into quickly pulling back.
Anthony cried out, "A few days ago, I was having dinner with Seraphina at a restaurant. We were chatting happily when suddenly a little girl rushed in and called me Daddy. The little girl was very pretty, and she cried, saying I was her dad and that I had abandoned her mom. Seraphina was with me at the time, and she got so angry that she left. She thought I had deceived her. Later, I went to apologize to Seraphina and told her that I had never been married and didn't have any children. The little girl didn't know me at all; she mistook me for her dad. She borrowed my phone to call her mom. After that, my phone started having problems out of nowhere. Michael, I once mentioned that the little girl looked a lot like Elizabeth. I suspect she didn't call her mom but instead installed a virus on my phone. When I checked later, there was no record of a call to an unknown number on my phone. Michael, everything I'm saying is true. I'm not lying. If you don't believe me, you can have someone investigate. I wouldn't dare lie to you."
Anthony finished in one breath and crumpled to the ground.
Michael's anger gradually subsided. He sat on the couch, calmly thinking for a while.
Indeed, Anthony didn't have the skills to be a hacker. He wasn't that capable. A young man who idled away his days aimlessly—what could he possibly do?
Michael stood up, "Alright, get up. The virus on your phone has been removed, and it won't cause any more problems."
Anthony stood up joyfully, took the phone handed to him by the bodyguard, and kept nodding towards Michael, "Thank you, Michael! This is great! I don't have to worry about being eavesdropped on! I always felt like my phone was being tracked and bugged. But there is so much stuff on my phone that I couldn't just throw it away. Now it's finally resolved, and I can sleep well."
He bowed to Michael, "Michael, thank you so much!"
Michael left Anthony's room with his bodyguards and returned to the living room.
William stepped forward and said, "Michael, have a seat. Let's talk for a bit."
Michael sat down.
William said, "I've heard about Eloise. Still no news?"
Michael didn't speak, just nodded slightly.
William said, "It seems this hacker is very skilled, to be able to sabotage the security system at Global Horizons International School. They must be quite capable."
William looked up, "Michael, have you offended anyone?"
Michael said lightly, "I offend people every day."
William was momentarily speechless. He then said, "Have you considered who might have taken Eloise? I don't think it's likely to be someone from outside the school."
Michael thought for a while and said, "I've thought about that. It's hard for outsiders to get close to the school. Whoever took Eloise must be someone from inside the school."
William agreed, "Yes. It must be someone from inside the school, or someone from outside colluding with someone inside to take Eloise. However, Michael, have you considered that Eloise might have run away on her own?"
Michael shook his head without thinking, "Impossible. Eloise wouldn't do that. She's always been very well-behaved. She wouldn't leave the school on her own. She doesn't like unfamiliar places or people. She feels safe only at Global Horizons International School. She has the intelligence of a three-year-old; she wouldn't wander off. Besides, this time, someone's behind this. Otherwise, why would she go missing just as the security system at the school malfunctioned? It's definitely a conspiracy."
