Chapter 231 Revenge
Eloise suddenly jumped up, shaking her head like crazy. "No way. I don't want surgery. I can't go through that pain again."
She was already clutching her head, squatting down, and shaking like a leaf.
Michael watched her, his heart breaking.
He crouched down beside her. "Eloise, I'm so sorry you're hurting. But remember last time? Calla did the surgery, and you didn't even feel it."
Eloise stopped shaking. "Calla? Is she doing it again?"
Michael gently rubbed her back. "Yeah, Calla's got it. She did great last time, and she'll do it again. You'll feel so much better."
Eloise looked up at him, fear in her eyes. Then, she suddenly stood up and walked away.
At the police station, Elizabeth sat across the desk. "Any updates on my mom's car accident?" she asked.
The cop replied, "Ms. Jones, the driver was drunk, with a high blood alcohol level. It's a clear case of drunk driving. The truck driver is at fault and will cover all the damages."
Elizabeth leaned in, not buying it. "That's it?"
"That's it," Leonard Turner said, spreading his hands.
Elizabeth shot up from her seat.
Louis quickly pulled her back down and nodded at Leonard. "Sorry, she's just really upset."
Leonard waved it off. "It's fine. I get it."
Later, Louis led Elizabeth out of the station.
Just as they left, Michael walked out from the back.
Leonard stood up. "Mr. Thomas."
Michael motioned for him to sit. "What's up?"
Leonard said, "Ms. Jones was really emotional. She doesn't accept the investigation results."
Michael nodded. "I know. We can't tell her it's murder yet. She might do something reckless. I'm thinking about her safety and keeping things calm."
Leonard nodded. "If only everyone cared about stability like you, Mr. Thomas."
Michael smiled. "Thanks. Keep me updated."
Leonard said, "Will do. Take care."
At Whispering Pines Estates, Dean had breakfast with Nolan and Pearl. Afterward, he headed to Elizabeth's room. Her door was shut. Dean knocked gently.
"Elizabeth, open up."
No answer.
"Elizabeth, come on. Let's talk about what's bothering you."
Still nothing.
"Elizabeth, I know you're upset. You don't have to go to work. I'll handle things."
Suddenly, the door flew open, startling Dean.
"Elizabeth, you opened the door," Dean said.
Elizabeth said, "Dean, stay with Pearl and Nolan. I have some things to take care of."
With that, she left and drove to Jennifer's place.
Half an hour later, Jennifer stepped out and started walking down the road in the villa area.
Elizabeth followed her slowly into the car.
On a narrow road, Elizabeth squinted, pressed her lips together, and floored the gas pedal.
The Range Rover roared towards Jennifer.
Hearing the noise, Jennifer turned and saw the car speeding at her.
Terrified, she collapsed to the ground.
A dark figure darted out and pushed Jennifer to the side.
Elizabeth slammed on the brakes, her eyes blazing with anger. "Michael! How dare you ruin my plan!"
Jennifer looked at Michael, stunned. "Mr. Thomas?"
Michael didn't even glance at her. "Get lost," he said.
Jennifer scrambled away.
Michael walked coldly toward the Range Rover. He knocked on the window. "Get out."
Elizabeth glared at him.
Michael opened the driver's door, yanked Elizabeth out, and shoved her into the passenger seat before getting in himself.
"Michael! Why do you meddle in my business? Why do you stop me from getting revenge?" Elizabeth wrestled with him as he seized her hands.
Michael held her hands firmly.
Elizabeth struggled fiercely, tears streaming down her face. "Michael! I hate you! You can't help me at all! And you still come to stop me!"
Michael held her tightly as she pounded his chest and bit his shoulder. He gritted his teeth and endured it until she finally ran out of strength.
She collapsed in his arms, still accusing him. "Michael, why did you show up? If it weren't for you, I would have killed Jennifer. I had a private detective find out she paid enough money to last a lifetime, just to buy my mother's life. She ordered the hit on my mother, and I want her to pay with her life. I was going to kill her today, make her feel what it's like to be hit by a car!"
Michael lifted her chin. "Elizabeth, you're so foolish. Do you even know who Jennifer is? She has connections with Calla's father. She knows so many thugs. Aren't you afraid of her revenge?"
Elizabeth glared at him. "What do I have to be afraid of? My mother is already gone! Michael, or is it that you want to marry Calla, so you don't want to offend her family? You want to protect your future mother-in-law?"
"Elizabeth, do you know what you're saying? Forget it, I won't argue with you. I'm saving you. If you killed Jennifer today, you'd go to jail and pay with your life. Have you thought about what would happen to your kids then?" Michael shook her shoulders as he spoke.
Elizabeth pushed him away. "Stop pretending to be the good guy! We're divorced! Remember your place and don't overstep your boundaries!"
She sat properly in the passenger seat. "Mr. Thomas, please get out of the car," she said.
Michael felt his heart tighten. She pushed him away again.
Yes, they were already divorced, no longer connected. It was him who insisted on keeping track of her every move.
Michael said, "Elizabeth, I can leave. I just hope you can love yourself. Don't be impulsive. Don't do anything foolish."
Elizabeth sneered and turned her head towards the window. "The esteemed president of the Thomas Group, you sure have a lot on your plate. You're even involved in your ex-wife's affairs. Your current girlfriend is pregnant—why haven't you taken any action? Why not have your bodyguards force her to the hospital for an abortion?"
She suddenly turned her head, glaring at Michael. “Michael, do you really hate my child that much? Why can you accept Calla carrying your baby?”
Michael looked at her, at a loss for words.
He sighed. "Sit tight. I'll take you home."
Elizabeth responded viciously, "No need! Get out!"
Michael suddenly leaned over.
Elizabeth said, "What are you doing?"
Michael fastened her seatbelt. "Sit tight, you're not in a state to drive. I'll take you back."
