Chapter 284 Your Girlfriend

After Carter finished his song and stepped off the stage, he was immediately surrounded by a throng of ecstatic fans.

Carter strained to see Elizabeth through the crowd, but the man beside her, Michael, had turned her head away, speaking to her and blocking Carter's view.

Seeing this, Carter sighed and forced a smile, greeting fans and taking photos with them.

Just then, a slender hand reached out to him. He looked up in disbelief to see Elizabeth standing before him.

His smile was unmistakable, and his face flushed with excitement."Elizabeth!"

He had thought that Michael, her ex-husband, the powerful figure who could control everything in Aurora Bay, would forcefully take her away.

However, Elizabeth led Carter hand in hand through the crowd, a path cleared by Michael and his bodyguards.

Carter caught Michael's eye and saw a flicker of displeasure, bordering on anger.

Seeing this, Carter couldn't help but smirk.

He thought, 'Michael must have listened to Elizabeth and agreed to help me leave the hall smoothly.'

So, Elizabeth must hold a significant place in Michael's heart, contrary to what people said about her being abandoned.

In Elizabeth's heart, Michael must also hold some importance; otherwise, she wouldn't allow him to stay so close to her.

Carter wondered, 'Does she have a place for me in her heart?'

After Carter left, the wedding ceremony concluded and guests began to leave.

Elizabeth also said goodbye to Sarah.

Sarah and David were about to embark on their honeymoon.

By the seaside, Sarah hugged Elizabeth tightly, reluctant to part. "Elizabeth, I'll miss you so much over the next month."

Elizabeth patted her with a smile. "Sarah, don't be like that. David will get jealous."

Sarah glared at David and replied, "He wouldn't dare."

Yet Michael pulled Elizabeth away, waving to Sarah and David. "David, you two should set sail now."

With that, the couple departed.

At that time, Michael placed a blue velvet box in Elizabeth's hand.

Elizabeth shook it and asked, "What's this?"

Michael nodded towards it. "Open it and see."

Elizabeth opened the box to find a pearl necklace inside, each pearl perfectly round and lustrous

She looked puzzled. "Why are you giving me a gift all of a sudden?"

Michael frowned. Did giving a gift need a reason?

He scratched his head and said, "Just tell me if you like it or not."

Elizabeth looked down and murmured, "Michael, what's going on? Not long ago, you wanted to strangle me. Why are you suddenly giving me such an expensive gift today?"

Hearing this, Michael didn't know how to respond. "That was then, this is now. Just take it," he said.

However, Elizabeth got angry, shoved the box back into his hands, and turned to leave.

Michael was baffled and quickly caught up with her. "What's going on? You were just happy a moment ago, and now you're mad?"

Elizabeth looked at him coldly. "Are you giving me this gift because I'm carrying your child? Is this your reward for me as a surrogate?"

Michael was confused. He couldn't understand what was going on in her mind.

Elizabeth continued, "Do you give every woman who carries your child a reward? What about Calla? What did you give her? She performed surgery for Eloise, and you gave her a large sum of money. She carried your child, so you must have given her even more, right?"

Her tone was filled with jealousy.

Michael felt hurt hearing this. "Elizabeth, I didn't…"

Elizabeth interrupted, "You didn't have time yet? Now you remember, so you're making up for it?"

Michael was at a loss for words. Why was Elizabeth suddenly so angry?

Matthew had said women loved receiving gifts, but Elizabeth seemed to react as if he was touching a sore spot every time.

Feeling defeated, Michael called Matthew for advice.

Matthew answered, "What's up now, Mr. Thomas?"

Michael sighed. "I gave her a gift, but she got really mad and left without a word."

Matthew felt a headache coming on and said, "I have to say, your girlfriend's thoughts are really different from other women."

Michael felt oddly pleased hearing "your girlfriend," but the problem remained unsolved.

Matthew continued, "Elizabeth is different from other women, that's for sure. The woman you like is naturally unique."

Michael asked, "Why doesn't she like my gifts? Does she hate me?"

Matthew decided to dig a little deeper. "When you kiss her, does she resist?"

Michael answered without hesitation, "No, she likes it."

Matthew rolled his eyes internally, thinking, 'Show-off.'

He said, "So, she doesn't hate you. In fact, she likes you. Otherwise, she would've punched you by now."

Michael said, "But she keeps bringing up Calla…"

Hearing this, Matthew explained, "If she's so concerned about Calla, it means she is jealous. She cares about you, which is why she's bothered by your past with other women."

Michael protested, "But she knows there's no real feeling between Calla and me! I was forced into that!"

Matthew asked, "Who forced you? Eloise? Elizabeth?"

Michael fell silent at Matthew's words.

Matthew spoke earnestly, "Michael, the issues between you are things only you truly understand. Others don't know the full story. How can you expect them to empathize?"

Hearing this, Michael gripped his phone tightly.

Matthew continued, "You want Elizabeth to understand you, but you're with Eloise, dating Calla, and thinking about Elizabeth all at once?"

Michael said, "Matthew, you know Eloise is my sister."

Matthew replied, "Michael, I only recently learned about Eloise's identity. I don't know what happened to her that made you hide her for so many years. But think about it, does Elizabeth know these things? If you don't tell her, she'll always misunderstand you. You'll never resolve your conflicts."

However, Michael was still struggling internally. "But I don't want more people to know about Eloise's condition. It's not fair to her."

Matthew wanted to punch Michael. "Deception and secrecy are fair to Elizabeth? Michael, if you want Eloise to continue living in isolation, then don't bother Elizabeth. Let her live her life in peace. If you truly want to be with Elizabeth, then tell her about Eloise! Don't make her guess!"

At that time, Michael fell into deep self-doubt.

Could he accept others knowing about Eloise's condition?

If people knew, it would expose his vulnerabilities.

He didn't dare take that risk.

So, he would wait for Elizabeth to have the baby and then let her go, allowing her to live the life she wanted.

However, he would continue to be with Eloise, never abandoning her.
