Chapter 356 Love Conundrum

Daniel was the CEO's right-hand man, and everyone at the company respected him a lot.

When he yelled, people realized their gossiping had gone too far. They had a ton of work to do, and if they didn't finish by the end of the day, they'd have to stay late.

STellar Enterprises wasn't big on overtime. Michael thought that if you had to work late, it was either because of an urgent project or because you weren't efficient enough.

Nobody wanted to look bad in front of the CEO because of their work performance.

At the CEO's office, Daniel knocked lightly on the door.

Michael glanced up and signaled with his eyes to leave the documents on the side; he'd get to them later.

Daniel turned to close the door. After putting down the documents, he didn't leave right away. Michael didn't seem to mind.

"Mr. Thomas..." Daniel called softly.

Michael didn't look up. "Yeah, what is it?"

Daniel decided to tell him about the video, so he wouldn't be blindsided if someone brought it up during a contract negotiation.

If Michael knew about it ahead of time, he could be prepared.

Daniel opened his phone's browser history and placed the phone in front of Michael.

Then he stepped back a couple of steps, waiting for Michael to get angry.

If Michael threw something, being too close might get him hit. It was safer to keep some distance.

Michael, busy with his paperwork, saw the phone on his desk and frowned slightly, giving Daniel a reproachful look.

As his personal assistant, shouldn't Daniel know how busy his schedule was today? And yet, he was making him look at his phone?

Daniel nodded, signaling him to take a look.

With a questioning look, Michael clicked on the link.

The video was no longer available, but there were still plenty of screenshots in the comments below.

The more he scrolled, the angrier he got. His face grew darker and darker.

He gripped Daniel's phone tightly, his nostrils flaring, and his lips pressed into a thin line.

Daniel glanced at him secretly. Michael was definitely furious, judging by his heaving chest.

He took a step forward. "Mr. Thomas, let me explain..."

Before he could finish, there was a loud crash.

He stood there, hands outstretched, looking at the shattered phone on the floor.

Daniel sighed inwardly. Well, at least his phone took the hit for him.

He silently mourned his phone for a minute.

Michael stood up and paced the office quickly. "Go buy a new phone later. I'll reimburse you."

Daniel bowed slightly. "Thank you, Mr. Thomas."

Michael put one hand on his hip and waved the other dismissively. "Alright, tell me, what's going on?"

Daniel chose his words carefully. "I came across this video this morning. The comments are really harsh, all targeting Ms. Jones. The folks at the company have probably seen it too."

Michael took a deep breath. "Have you checked it out? Are you sure the woman in the video is Elizabeth?"

Daniel shook his head vigorously. "No, no. The person in the video might not be Ms. Jones."

Michael's eyes blazed. "If it's not certain, why blame her? Who can prove the woman in the video is her?"

As he was fuming, Matthew walked in.

Daniel glanced at him, seeking help.

He dared to show Michael the phone because he was prepared to face Michael's wrath.

As Michael's personal assistant, some things only he could handle. But if he could get some backup, he wouldn't miss the chance.

Matthew looked at the broken phone on the floor and picked it up. "Mr. Taylor, isn't this your phone? Not using it anymore? Well, it's broken anyway. Time to get a new one. Out with the old, in with the new."

Michael glared at him. "Stop being sarcastic."

Matthew walked over to him. "Michael, are you angry about Elizabeth's video? I told you, she's not a good woman. She's been playing you..."

Michael cut him off with a glare. "What proof do you have that it's her? The video is so blurry. How can you be sure it's her? She wouldn't do something like that!"

"Maybe someone who wants to frame her used AI to swap her face onto the video! Don't jump to conclusions without evidence! And you have no right to judge her!"

Matthew had a lot to say, but Michael's outburst left him speechless.

He stood there, mouth open, looking at Michael and Daniel, appearing quite comical.

He finally remembered what he wanted to say. "Michael, didn't you notice the background in the video? It's the Ramirez family's hotel room! Elizabeth was at their party that night!"

"Did you see her later? Didn't she disappear halfway through? The reason I was reminding you before is because that night, I personally heard her in a room, talking and making love with a man!"

"Margaret was with me! She heard it too! If it weren't for not wanting Margaret to see such a scene, I would have barged in and exposed her true colors!"

Michael frowned. "The Ramirez family's hotel? That night?"

He immediately thought of some unpleasant memories.

Hearing Matthew mention Margaret, he snorted. "You should worry about Margaret first!"

Matthew didn't want to hear Michael talk about Margaret, the woman he had loved for years. "I think you're blinded by Elizabeth! How can you believe she's perfect? Why don't you believe she could deceive you? One day, you'll regret it!"

Michael pointed to the door. "Shut up! Get out!"

Matthew shook his head. "You're completely blinded by love!"

Michael glared at him. "Matthew, even if my marriage with her is over, I won't let you slander the mother of my children! As an adult, I hope you can distinguish right from wrong!"

Listening to Michael, Daniel wondered to himself, 'Is Mr. Thomas saying this deliberately for Mr. Anderson to hear? He must also think that the woman in the video is Elizabeth, otherwise, he wouldn't be so angry as to throw my phone. He's probably angry that Mr. Anderson didn't leave him any dignity.'

Michael slowly calmed down and said in a low voice, "You can leave too."

Daniel saw the conflict in Michael's eyes.

He sighed inwardly, 'It seems that deep down, Mr. Thomas doesn't fully trust Elizabeth either. Love is such a difficult thing to comprehend.'
