Chapter 567 Accident

Michael quickly said, "Rowan's safe for now. No need to worry."

Elizabeth frowned, "You think Gerald's gonna kill her?"

Michael reassured her, "I had Juan take her away. She'll be safe for a bit. It all depends on whether Juan can protect her."

Elizabeth sighed, "I hope Juan can handle Gerald's pressure. Seems like we're always leaning on him."

"It's fine. We've always had each other's backs."

Elizabeth glanced at Eloise beside her and said to Michael, "Eloise misses you a lot. She wants to talk to you."

She handed the phone to Eloise.

Eloise beamed, "Michael, I miss you so much!"

Seeing Eloise's face again, Michael was overwhelmed with emotion.

"Eloise, I thought... But I always believed you were alive. From now on, you have to stay by my side and not scare me like this again."

Eloise looked apologetic, "I'm sorry, Michael. I made you worry. From now on, I'll always tell you where I'm going so you won't worry about me."

"I heard from Elizabeth that Quinn gave you a kidney? How are you feeling now? How's your recovery?"

"Michael, I'm much better now. But Louis won't let me go out and have fun."

"Since you're staying with Louis, you should listen to him. He's a doctor, after all. When you come back, you and Quinn can stay at our place, and Clio can keep taking care of you. She misses you a lot. Elizabeth will get your room ready and set up a guest room for Quinn."

"Okay, Michael. When will you go back home?"

Michael lowered his head in thought, "I still have things to handle here. I can't come back just yet. You go ahead first."

"Alright then."

Eloise handed the phone back to Elizabeth.

Elizabeth took it, "Be careful over there."

"I know."

"You should go be with Gerald. Be careful he doesn't get suspicious of you."

Michael glanced at Zander, who had been watching him, "He never fully trusted me anyway. Alright, I'll go now. You stay with Eloise for a while."

He ended the call and walked towards Gerald's hospital room.

Zander glared at him, "Michael! Cordelia is still in the room with Gerald! And you're out here chatting with your ex-wife!"

Michael looked at him disdainfully, "So, you think I should be chatting in the hospital room?"

Zander's eyes widened, "You know that's not what I meant!"

"Really? Then what do you mean? Do you want me to cut all ties with Elizabeth and live happily ever after with your Cordelia? Is that what you want?"

Zander's chest heaved with anger, "Michael! You're deliberately provoking me!"

Michael stepped closer, "You're the one who came to provoke me first. If you like Cordelia, stop watching me and who I talk to. If Cordelia and I have a bad relationship, you have a chance, right? If we were deeply in love, wouldn't you have no chance at all?"

Zander was too angry to speak.

Michael pushed him aside, "Don't block the way. I need to talk to my wife."

In the hospital room, Gerald lay on the bed, and Cordelia sat beside him, tears streaming down her face.

"Dad, how could this happen? It was supposed to be a nice party, and you got stabbed."

She looked up and saw Michael standing nearby.

Wiping her tears, she asked, "Michael, is Dad having bad luck lately? He just got out of the hospital and now he's back in."

Michael gently patted her shoulder, "Cordelia, don't be too sad. The knife missed his heart. He'll be out in a few days."

Cordelia nodded, holding his hand and pressing her face against it, "Michael, I'm so glad you're here. I wouldn't know what to do otherwise."

"I didn't do much. If you want to thank someone, thank Zander. He's been running around taking care of everything."

Cordelia glanced at Zander standing at the door, "He's the Murphy family's godson. It's his duty."

She whispered to Michael, "Dad took him in when he was a kid. Otherwise, he would have starved to death. To him, Dad is more important than anyone."

Michael understood, "I see. He must be very loyal to your dad."

Cordelia nodded, "Dad and I never doubt his loyalty."

Michael pulled his hand away, "Kirk and Juan are still outside. I'll go talk to them."

Cordelia looked up at him, "Alright, go ahead."

Michael walked out of the room, and as he passed Zander, Zander glared at him.

In the hallway, Juan, Kirk, and Alfonso were waiting.

Kirk asked, "Michael, how's Gerald? Did the knife miss any vital organs?"

Alfonso added, "That waiter was really bold! Trying to assassinate Gerald!"

Juan's eyes were deep as he pulled Michael aside, "I've had the woman taken back and settled. Are you sure you have no feelings for her?"

Michael frowned and whispered, "Of course not! She's Elizabeth's classmate's fiancée, here to avenge her fiancé. Gerald poisoned her fiancé."

Juan nodded in realization, "I see. She's a fierce woman."

He looked at Michael, "You did this to help Elizabeth, didn't you?"

Michael didn't deny it, "Her fiancé was innocent. He was targeted because of Elizabeth."

He looked deeply at Juan, "Can you guarantee her safety?"

Juan exhaled lightly, "I'll do my best. Let's hope Gerald doesn't know about my secret passage. That woman is still too weak."

He sighed and mouthed, "Why didn't she aim better?"

Michael nodded, "Agreed."

Juan patted his shoulder, "Go back and be with Gerald."

Michael turned, said goodbye to the three, and returned to the hospital room.

As he passed Zander, Zander suddenly stuck out his foot, and Michael, unprepared, fell forward.

There was a marble coffee table nearby, and Michael's head hit it hard with a loud thud.

Cordelia turned around in shock, screaming, "Michael!"

Michael's body convulsed uncontrollably as he fell to the ground.

Cordelia screamed, "Doctor! Doctor! Help my husband!"

She cried as she held him, shaking his body, "Michael! Wake up! What's wrong?"

Michael slowly opened his eyes, frowning in pain, "Cordelia, stop shaking me. My head is spinning and it hurts."
