Chapter 159 This Matter, No One Else Will Know

Calla chucked another pillow at his head. "What the hell? Elizabeth? Make yourself clear! Michael invited me here, so why are you here?"

Anthony dodged the pillow. "I don't get it either. How are you here? Elizabeth invited me last night. She texted me yesterday afternoon, saying she wanted me to come over. She even said she wasn't used to seeing my face and insisted I turn off the lights. When you showed up last night, I thought you were her."

Calla's eyes were red with anger as she glared at Anthony. "Bullshit! You think I'll buy that? Show me the message!"

Anthony scrambled to find his phone.

He scrolled through his messages, eyes wide. "What the hell? I got the message. Why is it gone? Could it be that damn hacker again?"

Calla shot him a disdainful yet fierce look. "Anthony, cut the crap. What's really going on?"

Anthony, genuinely confused, explained, "You gotta believe me. I'm telling the truth. My phone's been hacked before. Maybe it's the same hacker. Why don't you check the message Michael sent you? See if it's still there."

Calla, half-believing, grabbed her phone and opened the chat app.

As she scrolled, her face went pale, and even her lips lost their color.

The message had vanished.

Calla's head buzzed, and she felt ice-cold all over.

She held her phone with trembling hands, in disbelief.

She'd been played, and she had slept with Anthony.

She had planned to get close to Michael to climb the social ladder and become a wealthy wife.

Now, after a night with Anthony, would Michael still marry her if he found out?

Would he feel humiliated and kill her?

Calla was on the verge of tears.

Seeing her expression, Anthony leaned in and asked, "Dr. Griffin, am I right? The message is gone, isn't it? Your phone must've been hacked too. That message wasn't from Michael! We've been set up!"

Calla held her head and slowly slid to the floor, muttering, "How could this happen? Michael won't let me off."

Anthony tried to comfort her, "Only the two of us know about this. No one else will find out."

His words made Calla lift her head and stand up suddenly, her face cold. "Anthony, is there a camera in this room?"

Anthony looked at her. "Don't worry, I'll get someone to check it out."

Calla regained her composure. "Now, get dressed immediately. Once I leave the hotel, you get people to check."

Anthony instinctively followed her instructions.

He nodded vigorously. "Don't worry. Leave it to me. I'll handle it."

That morning, Elizabeth brought a file folder to the police station.

Five years ago, Jennifer had arranged for her brother Kieran to be the CFO of the Jones Group.

But who would've thought Kieran would embezzle funds, falsify accounts, and flee abroad with nearly a billion dollars?

This led to the Jones Group's financial crisis, halting new product development.

It also caused Robert to be so angry that he had a heart attack and eventually passed away.

Kieran was basically the reason Robert died.

Unfortunately, there was no concrete evidence at the time, allowing Kieran to live freely abroad for five years.

Elizabeth gathered the evidence from back then, and a private investigator had been tracking Kieran's activities abroad.

Recently, the investigator found out where Kieran was hiding.

He sent Elizabeth recent photos of Kieran, his activity logs, and his address.

Given his wild spending habits, Elizabeth figured the billion dollars was probably long gone.

He must be seriously strapped for cash now.

After all, he couldn't handle living on a budget.

Elizabeth deliberately spread the word that she had rebuilt The Jones Group and was now hiring employees, offering special benefits to former employees.

And the CFO position was still open.

She believed that Kieran's greedy nature would lead him to think she had no evidence to accuse him, and he would demand to return to Jones Group.

Elizabeth handed the materials to the police, then left and drove to the airport.

Today was the day Louis was coming back to the country.

At Global Horizons International School, Michael took Eloise to her room.

After settling Eloise, he headed straight to Nolan's classroom.

Michael still remembered the cocky look Nolan had given him at this school; it was a look that didn't match his age.

Michael had also seen Nolan messing around on the computer before.

Anthony had mentioned that his phone got infected with a virus after a little girl touched it. And that little girl was likely Pearl.

Michael suspected that Pearl, under Nolan's influence, planted the virus on Anthony's phone.

Even though Nolan was only four years old, Michael believed Nolan was the hacker.

This might sound crazy to others.

Who would think a four-year-old could take down an entire company's network?

But Michael had ruled out all other possibilities and was convinced that Nolan was the hacker.

Otherwise, why would Elizabeth be so jumpy?

Michael decided to check Nolan's laptop to see if there was anything fishy.

He knocked on the classroom door.

A teacher came to open it. “Mr. Thomas, what brings you here?”

“I need to see Nolan.” Michael walked straight to Nolan.

Nolan looked up at him, his eyes fearless.

Michael sat in the chair opposite him. “Nolan, I want to see your backpack.”

Nolan ignored him and kept writing in his notebook.

Michael went to the closet and took out his backpack.

He unzipped it and found no laptop inside.

Michael turned back and looked at Nolan, who gave him a cold stare.

Michael asked, “Nolan, where's your laptop? Don't you bring it to school every day?”

Nolan didn't respond.

Michael thought, after the mess he and Matthew caused at the Jones Group, Elizabeth must have taken Nolan's laptop away as soon as she got home.

The teacher walked over. “Mr. Thomas, Nolan doesn't like to interact with people much. He brings his laptop just to play games and do some exercises. It's not a big deal. Is there a problem?”
