Chapter 458 Seek Quinn

Elizabeth clutched her thigh, grimacing in pain. "I'm fine. Just banged my leg. Don't worry about me."

Michael's voice was filled with concern. "Hang tight. I'll be there soon."

With that, he hung up the phone.

Elizabeth worried he might see the reports, so she quickly rolled them up and stuffed them into the drawer of her vanity.

She took a moment to calm her racing heart, washed her hands in the bathroom, and then walked downstairs, trying to appear composed.

Pearl and Nolan had already finished their dinner. Susan was clearing the plates.

Elizabeth felt a bit embarrassed. "Susan, Michael is coming over soon. He hasn't had dinner yet. Could you prepare some food for him?"

Susan immediately understood. "Of course, Elizabeth. I'll head to the kitchen and make something for Mr. Thomas."

Elizabeth apologized. "Sorry to trouble you, Susan."

Susan smiled. "I've been cooking for Mr. Thomas for years. I know his tastes well. It won't be a bother."

Nolan, upon hearing that Michael was coming over, quickly packed away his building blocks.

Elizabeth felt a pang of worry. She wondered when Michael would finally earn Nolan's acceptance and trust.

It wasn't just Michael's true identity; the father-son relationship was also a headache for her.

Michael arrived at Whispering Pines Estates, and Susan served the food. Elizabeth joined him for a bit.

After dinner, Michael played with Pearl for a while before urging her to go to bed.

Once Pearl was asleep, Michael took Elizabeth upstairs.

In their room, Elizabeth didn't rush him to wash up. Instead, she pulled him to sit on the couch.

"Michael, let's talk."

Michael suddenly felt a bit nervous. He feared Elizabeth might bring up Margaret. In such a tender moment, he didn't want to mention anyone else.

"Elizabeth, you seem to have something on your mind today."

Elizabeth thought to herself that she wasn't good at hiding her feelings. If Michael sensed something, it would be hard to handle.

She tried to act natural. "Tell me about your journey to success. It must be inspiring."

Michael relaxed a bit, crossing his legs. "What's there to tell? You've started a company too. You should understand."

Elizabeth liked to lean against him during their conversations.

"I'm nowhere near your level. I'm just a small business owner. You're a titan in the industry. There's no comparison!"

Elizabeth wrapped her arm around his. "You're a genius in business. In just a few years, you made STellar Enterprises the top in the industry. That's impressive."

Michael chuckled. "Are you chatting with me just to flatter me?"

"I just want to know, if you weren't Michael Thomas, what would you be like?"

Michael pondered. "If I weren't Michael Thomas? Elizabeth, are you saying if I were just an ordinary person? Then I might feel unworthy of you. I wouldn't dare pursue you. But I would work hard to catch up to you."

Elizabeth laughed. "I get it. Day after day, year after year, you'd still become the Michael you are now."

He kissed her forehead. "Why did you suddenly ask this today?"

Elizabeth toyed with a gemstone cufflink on his shirt. "If you weren't you, would there be fewer women thinking about you?"

Michael sighed inwardly. As expected, it was inevitable. Elizabeth still couldn't avoid the topic of Margaret.

He pulled her into an embrace. "If I weren't in my current position, Elizabeth, would you still love me?"

"You know very well that I love you, not just your status. Our feelings aren't fleeting; they've been built over years. Even if you weren't Michael, the kids would still be your kids. They wouldn't deny you as their father because of your status change. And I would still love you."

Michael's eyes welled up with tears at Elizabeth's heartfelt confession.

"Thank you, Elizabeth. Thank you for loving me and not giving up on me."

During the day, Elizabeth received a call from Quinn. She immediately went to Dean's office and wrote a line on the paper in front of him.

Dean gave her an OK gesture.

Quinn's cautious voice came through. "Dr. Jones, I'm at Aurora Bay in Celestria. Can I see you?"

The surgery had been months ago, and Quinn had recovered well. At least he was communicating with others.

"Quinn, where are you staying? Give me the address, and I'll come find you."

"Dr. Jones, they'll take the phone away soon. I don't know where this is. I only heard from their conversations that they're here to find someone. Often, they talk and act in ways that avoid me."

"Okay, Quinn, you're doing great. I'll find a way to locate you."

"Dr. Jones, I really want to leave this 'home.' I can only ask for your help."

The call was abruptly cut off again. It seemed that Quinn had been discovered by the Reed family father and son.

Elizabeth asked, "Can you find his address?"

Dean turned his computer screen towards her. "I can only pinpoint the general area, not the exact building."

Elizabeth looked at the marked location on the map, deep in thought.

"Dean, don't you think this place is a bit close to Michael's villa?"

Dean nodded. "I noticed that too."

He looked at Elizabeth. "Do you think the family found you for the surgery for a simple reason? Could there be another motive?"

Elizabeth kept her thoughts to herself and didn't speak further.

Continuing the conversation might reveal Michael's privacy.

She didn't want his identity to be known by others before he found out himself. Not even Dean.

Jesse had rented a house in the same community as Michael to get close to him.

The villa was small, just enough for the three of them.

Jesse had recovered and been discharged. Philip stayed home with him, occasionally going out to buy groceries.

Their attitude towards Quinn was very consistent.

After dinner, Jesse lounged on the couch and instructed Philip. "Go, tell that idiot to come out for dinner."

Philip was about to stand up when Jesse changed his mind. "Forget it, don't let him come out and annoy me. Just take the food to his room."

Philip took the tray, carelessly placed two plates of leftovers on it, and walked towards Quinn's room, annoyed.

He took out the key, opened Quinn's door, and slammed the tray on the table. "Dinner's ready!"

Without waiting a second, he left the room and locked the door again.

Jesse was still sprawled on the couch.

"Philip, do you like living like this?"

Philip frowned at his father's question.

Who would like living like this?
