Chapter 319 It Turns Out to Be You
Elizabeth let out a sigh of relief. "It's really an honor to be considered your friend. Doing surgery for a friend? No biggie. Let's just forget about the payment."
Silver King raised an eyebrow, a bit taken aback. "No way, we gotta keep things separate. I've got plenty of cash."
Elizabeth was firm. "Making a friend in exchange for a fee? Sounds like a good deal to me."
Silver King relaxed and smiled. "Alright, Ms. Jones, you're pretty straightforward. Let me tell you, there were actually two people who betrayed Louis. One lured him out, and the other helped me kidnap him."
Elizabeth frowned slightly and confirmed with Silver King, "Two people?" Images of two individuals flashed in her mind. She tentatively asked, "Calla? Jennifer?"
Silver King closed his eyes briefly. "Ms. Jones, it seems you don't have many enemies."
Elizabeth suddenly realized, "So, they weren't targeting Louis at all. They were after me! They wanted to use you to get rid of me!" She felt even more guilty and remorseful. "I dragged Louis into this."
Silver King looked at her encouragingly. "If you ever need anything, come to me. I'll help you as much as I can. Do you want revenge? If you do, go for it. I'll back you up."
Elizabeth shook her head. "I won't do anything illegal. But I'm not someone who lets others push me around."
Silver King gestured for her to come closer. "Since I'm fine now, I'll arrange a plane to take you back to Celestria tomorrow. The bodyguards accompanying you will protect you all the way. They don't need to rush back. They can return after helping you with your matters."
Elizabeth looked at Silver King gratefully. "Thank you so much!"
Silver King smiled slightly. "We're friends now, no need to be so formal."
Elizabeth and the bodyguards took a private plane back to Celestria.
As soon as they landed, a driver was there to pick them up. Elizabeth thought, 'Silver King's influence is vast, even in Celestria. No wonder he could easily kidnap Louis.'
Elizabeth gave the driver an address and then called Calla.
"Calla, come meet me."
Calla was shocked to receive her call. She never expected Elizabeth, who had fallen into Silver King's hands, to still be alive.
Not only was she alive, but she had also returned! Would she seek revenge? Calla's voice trembled. "Elizabeth, where are you?"
Elizabeth sneered. "I'm still on the road. Let's meet at the usual restaurant. Hurry up, my patience is limited."
Calla was extremely frightened. As she changed clothes, she tried to reassure herself, 'No, Elizabeth can't know. She couldn't perform surgery for Silver King, so his illness remains untreated. If he didn't kill her, it was already merciful; he wouldn't tell her about this. She must be bluffing, trying to test me. She has no real evidence. As long as I deny it, Elizabeth can't pin the kidnapping of Louis on me.'
Calla composed herself and went to the meeting.
At the restaurant, Elizabeth was already waiting in a familiar spot, arms crossed, staring coldly at Calla.
Seeing Elizabeth's gaze, Calla felt like she was being devoured alive.
Calla swallowed nervously, raised her head slightly, and walked over, trying to appear composed.
It wasn't mealtime yet, so the restaurant was empty. The sound of Calla's high heels echoed, making the atmosphere tense.
She sat across from Elizabeth, glanced at the bodyguards behind her, and mocked, "Elizabeth, you needed to bring two men to meet me? Are you planning to fight?"
Elizabeth looked at her with contempt. "Calla, though I want to kill you, I don't want to dirty my hands. Besides, the best way to punish someone isn't to let them die quickly, but to make them live in pain."
Calla shivered involuntarily. She was sure Elizabeth had no evidence and sneered. "Elizabeth, I know you hate me for dating Michael, but you don't have to hate me this much. After all, I haven't even avenged my child's death."
Elizabeth looked at her coldly and scoffed. "I don't want to waste words with you. I know you value money and status most. You lost Michael—no, you never had him. Your social status is gone. So, money must be all you care about now. I want to see what you'll be like as a poor person."
She said bluntly, "Transfer $2 billion to my account within 24 hours."
Calla was shocked, then laughed angrily. "Elizabeth, are you crazy? Why would I give you $2 billion? What do I owe you?"
Elizabeth stared at her, unblinking. "Calla, ask yourself, is that $2 billion really yours? When did Celestria's laws say stolen money is yours?"
Calla's eyes widened. "Elizabeth! What do you mean?"
Elizabeth found her panic amusing. "Calla, that $2 billion was Michael's payment for surgery. But..." She stood up, leaned forward, and stared into Calla's eyes. "You didn't perform Eloise's surgery, remember?"
Calla, enraged, retorted, "So what if I didn't? The person who did it gave me the credit! It's mine! You can't take it!"
Elizabeth, satisfied with Calla's anger, sat back down. "Now, I'll tell you, that $2 billion was just for you to hold temporarily. Did you think it was yours after holding it for a while? I'm taking it back now."
Calla frowned. "What does this have to do with you? It's not your money. Why should I give it to you?"
Elizabeth calmly opened her phone and played a surveillance video. "Calla, open your eyes and see clearly. This is Eloise's surgery. Look at who the lead surgeon is!"
Calla watched the video, eyes wide in disbelief.
The lead surgeon wore a cap and mask, but anyone who knew Elizabeth could tell it was her.
Calla, shocked, pointed at Elizabeth. "It was you?"
