Chapter 593 Recognition
Michael nodded. "Got it."
Susan chimed in, "Elizabeth, Mr. Thomas still needs to rest. I'll take the kids home."
Elizabeth nodded. "You're right. I wasn't thinking. Michael should be resting."
Pearl asked, "Mommy, when can you come home?"
Elizabeth knelt down and looked at her. "Once your daddy gets better and leaves the hospital, we can go home. Then, we'll never be apart again."
Pearl hugged her. "Then we'll be together forever."
Michael nodded. "Yes, I won't leave you again. I won't hurt you anymore."
Dean spoke up, "Elizabeth, I've informed the lawyer and Quinn. They'll be here in three days to handle the stock transfer."
Elizabeth hesitated. "In the hospital room? Is that okay?"
Dean raised his chin slightly. "If Michael's okay with it, then it's fine."
Michael nodded. "I don't mind."
Elizabeth sighed. "Alright."
This matter had been weighing on her mind. It was better to resolve it sooner.
Susan took Francis, and Dean held Pearl's hand as they left.
The room fell silent again. Michael suddenly asked, "Eloise, are you married to Louis?"
Elizabeth and Eloise both stared in shock. "How did you know?"
Michael looked at Elizabeth. "You knew about this too?"
Elizabeth awkwardly replied, "I just found out a few minutes ago."
Michael raised his hand and pointed to Eloise's right hand. "You forgot to take off the ring."
Eloise's face turned red. "I'm sorry, Michael. I didn't tell you because I was afraid you'd be too upset."
Michael's face darkened. "Get Louis in here right now!"
Eloise grabbed his hand. "Michael! It's not Louis' fault! It's me! I forced him! When Francis was critically ill, I made him take me to donate blood. I drugged him and forced him to have sex with me. I made him marry me. It was all my idea! Don't blame him!"
Elizabeth and Michael were too shocked to speak.
Michael was furious. "Eloise, you..."
He clutched his chest, struggling to breathe.
Elizabeth quickly stepped forward to support him. "Michael, please don't get worked up. Eloise being alive is a blessing. We should be happy. Louis is a good man. Since he agreed to marry Eloise, he'll treat her well."
Michael closed his eyes, trying to calm his breathing.
Eloise spoke softly, "Michael, I wasn't planning to tell you this today. But now that you know, I have to tell you: I'll be moving in with Louis soon. After all, we're married."
She gently held Michael's hand. "Michael, you'll give us your blessing, won't you?"
Michael looked at her. She was no longer the scared little girl who always sought his protection.
He closed his eyes, defeated. "Alright. Bring Louis in."
Elizabeth immediately went out and called Louis into the room.
Louis walked over, and Eloise quickly grabbed his hand.
"Louis, Michael has agreed to our marriage."
Louis nodded. "I heard everything from outside."
Michael didn't want to look at him. He turned his head away and said sternly, "Louis, Eloise may not be my biological sister, but she's more important to me than that. She'll be living with you now. You better not mistreat her or make her suffer. Take good care of her. If she gets hurt or feels wronged, I won't forgive you."
He turned back and glared at Louis. "Can you do that?"
Louis stood firm, holding Eloise's hand. He looked at her. "Eloise is a gift from heaven. She's so beautiful and wonderful. How did I get so lucky to have her? Of course, I'll cherish her and protect her, and be with her forever."
He looked at Michael. "Mr. Thomas, even without your words, I would treat my wife well. You can rest assured."
Elizabeth watched them with relief.
Michael closed his eyes again and sighed. "Alright, I need to rest. You should go. Don't stay here and bother me."
Eloise stood up, reluctantly glanced at Michael, and left with Louis.
The room was quiet again, with just the two of them.
Elizabeth tentatively asked, "Michael, do you really dislike Louis that much?"
Michael's voice was muffled. "He was with you for those four years in Valoria! Those were the years I missed! I was supposed to be your husband, but I couldn't be there with you!"
Elizabeth laughed. "Michael, you look so cute when you pout. Are you jealous of him?"
Michael pretended to glare at her. "Yes! I can't stand him! I hate him! I'm jealous of him!"
Elizabeth's heart softened. She gently hugged him and said, "Michael, Louis is my friend. During those years in Valoria, you don't know how hard it was for me."
"The financial struggles were secondary. The main thing was how much I missed you. I couldn't sleep at night. Every time I lay down, I thought of you. During the day, I kept myself busy with work to numb my mind so I wouldn't think of you."
Elizabeth cupped Michael's face and kissed him gently. "Michael, even though you weren't physically with me, you were always in my thoughts. I love you."
Michael was moved and kissed her passionately. "Elizabeth, I love you too. I'm sorry for all the mistakes I made."
"I made mistakes too. Let's not do that anymore. We need to communicate and trust each other. Let's not waste any more time. We have many years ahead of us."
Michael hugged her tightly. "Yes, many years. I'll provide evidence to the court to prove my marriage to Cordelia is invalid. I'll marry you again, officially. Elizabeth, you're the woman I want to spend my life with."
Elizabeth's eyes filled with tears, and she nodded gently.
Months later.
At The Murphy Castle in Majestic City.
Cordelia watched as the servants packed her belongings.
She occasionally touched her noticeably swollen belly.
A servant stood beside Cordelia, still trying to persuade her. "Ms. Murphy, please don't think I'm nagging. Your belly is so big, it's hard for you to move around. And you're about to give birth. It's really not suitable for long-distance travel."
Cordelia's eyes were determined. "Don't you know? Michael abandoned me! The court declared our marriage invalid! He married Elizabeth! How can I let them live comfortably? I lost my virginity and my father. What did I get in return?"
Her eyes turned fierce, no longer the sweet girl she once was. "I will make them pay!"
