Chapter 163 In His Heart, She Wasn't Important

Michael didn't give it much thought.

He said hi to Calla.

Calla tried to act casual. "Mr. Thomas, I heard Eloise had another episode?"

She walked over to Eloise's bedside, quickly checked her condition, and then turned to Michael. "Eloise is dealing with PTSD. She must've gone through some serious trauma or abuse as a kid. Seeing stuff that reminds her of it brings back those scary memories, causing her to freak out."

Michael nodded. "Yeah. Just now in the hallway at Global Horizons International School, two people were fighting like crazy. She saw it and got triggered."

Calla stood up and nodded. "Makes sense. Those two fighting must've brought back some bad memories for her, setting off her stress response."

She looked back at Michael. "Has Eloise had these episodes before?"

Michael nodded. "Yeah. I try to keep her away from stuff like that."

Calla said, "She should see a psychologist. But if she's really against it, you can wait and see. If the surgery goes well and she matures, these episodes might happen less. But if you want them to stop completely, you'll need a psychologist."

Michael looked at Eloise and said to Calla, "Dr. Griffin, can you recommend a psychologist? I decided to let her try to undergo psychotherapy."

Calla looked at him.

It wasn't that he didn't care about others; it was just that the people he cared about would never be her.

He couldn't possibly not know that she didn't come home last night.

She had been gone all night, and the bodyguards and servants would have reported it to him.

But it seemed irrelevant to him.

Although Calla had already thought of how to respond, Michael didn't even bring it up.

In his eyes, she was just the doctor treating Eloise.

The so-called boyfriend-girlfriend relationship was something she had forced.

If she stopped treating Eloise, she would be insignificant to Michael.

Calla's mood plummeted.

After Eloise's condition stabilized, Michael went to the office.

Matthew pushed open the door to the CEO's office and walked over to him. "Weren't you supposed to take Eloise back to Global Horizons International School today? Why did it take so long? Did something happen?"

Michael said, "Eloise's condition was a bit unstable, so I took her back home."

Matthew couldn't help but feel a bit worried upon hearing this. "Eloise got triggered again?"

Michael nodded. "I'll schedule an appointment with a psychologist for her. She needs psychological intervention."

Matthew sat down on the sofa opposite him and said, "Weren't you going to investigate that Nolan? How's it going? Any results?"

Michael shook his head. "I checked his backpack. There was no laptop. I suspect that when we went to the Jones Group, Elizabeth must have noticed something. She probably confiscated Nolan's laptop as soon as she got home that night. I heard from the teachers that Nolan never goes anywhere without his laptop. The fact that he didn't bring it today only confirms my suspicions."

Matthew's eyes went wide. "Wait, are you saying Nolan's the hacker? So, the whole tech team at Stellar Enterprises got outsmarted by a 4-year-old? That's nuts! Is this kid some kind of genius?"

Michael snorted. "Genius or not, if he breaks the law, he's in trouble. Is this how Elizabeth educates her children?"

Matthew leaned over Michael's desk. "Michael, you know I love meeting people who are better than me. I really want to meet Nolan. I want to see the kid who outsmarted our entire tech team. Can you make that happen?"

Michael shot him a cold look. "If you want to meet him, go ahead. Why ask me? Nolan's not my kid!"

Matthew laughed. "Michael, are you jealous? Nolan might not be your son, but he's Elizabeth's! I remembered that her birthday's next week. If she throws a party, are you going? If you do, take me with you. Nolan will be there, and I can meet my idol."

Matthew looked hopeful.

Michael was unimpressed. "Nolan's your idol now?"

Matthew shrugged. "He's only 4, but he's got mad skills. Why can't he be my idol? By the way, if Elizabeth invites you to her party, you can't show up empty-handed. What are you planning to get her? Give me a hint."

Michael's expression shifted. "You think she'll invite us?"

Matthew said with confusion, "Why not? You just divorced her, you're not enemies. You had a few years together. She wouldn't be that heartless, would she?"

Michael didn't hold much expectation."It's hard to say."

Matthew straightened up, suggesting, "Whether she invites you or not, you should get a gift ready. It'd be awkward if you don't have time to prepare."

Later that evening, Louis called Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, I took what you said seriously."

Hearing this, Elizabeth felt a bit puzzled.

She tried to remember what she had said to Louis but gave up. "Louis, what are you talking about?"

Louis laughed. "Did you forget? You said you'd treat me to a meal. You also said I could come over for dinner and have Nancy's cooking."

Elizabeth slapped her forehead. "Oh! So it's about dinner! Since you brought it up, why don't you come over tonight? I'll call my mom and see if she's home."

Louis chuckled. "Alright. I'll be there. Don't forget to send me your address."

Elizabeth said, "Okay."

At Whispering Pines Estates, Louis, carrying a gift box, rang Elizabeth's doorbell.

Nancy saw him through the video intercom and called out, "Elizabeth! Louis is here!"

Nancy pressed the button to open the gate.

Louis, carrying the gift box, walked into the yard.

He stood there, taking in the lush greenery and blooming flowers.

He felt a sense of peace and happiness.
