Chapter 315 You're My Hostage Right Now
Elizabeth's mind was racing. This Silver King was terrifying, even planning to kidnap Pearl and Nolan.
She had already made up her mind. If Silver King really forced her to stay, she would find a chance to kill him.
He wanted her to give him close-up massages, right? That would give her plenty of opportunities to get close to him. Obvious weapons were out of the question, but what about the less obvious ones? Like acupuncture needles. Or perhaps, a slow-acting poison she could make herself.
The worst-case scenario was that she failed to assassinate him and got killed by Silver King's guards. Or, they both died together. Either outcome was better than letting Pearl and Nolan be imprisoned by him for life.
At this moment, Silver King was watching Elizabeth's ever-changing expressions with a leisurely look.
He raised his hand, rubbed his forehead, and smiled slightly, "Alright, I won't scare you anymore. You're so timid, it's almost laughable. I just don't understand how someone as timid as you dared to come here alone to save Louis."
Elizabeth blurted out angrily, "That's none of your business!"
Silver King continued to smile, "Already angry? Alright, come over and tell me, how can my illness be completely cured?"
Elizabeth hadn't yet recovered from the earlier fright. A fine layer of sweat had formed on her forehead.
Hearing his words, she raised her hand to wipe her forehead nonchalantly and then slowly said, "I need your medical records and test results from each time you've had an episode. I need to do a comprehensive evaluation. This isn't a simple matter; I need time."
Silver King nodded, "I understand. I'll have someone fetch my medical records right away."
Elizabeth replied, "There's no rush for that." She had regained her composure and sat down on the sofa opposite him.
Silver King looked at her with a puzzled expression.
Elizabeth was no longer afraid of him, "Silver King, shouldn't we discuss the terms first?"
Hearing her words, Silver King burst into laughter.
Elizabeth maintained her calm demeanor, watching him.
Silver King said, "Ms. Jones, have you forgotten that you're my hostage right now?"
Elizabeth responded, "So what?"
Silver King crossed his legs, his tone full of disdain, "A hostage, negotiating terms with me?"
Elizabeth stood up, her face turning cold, "Fine, then just give your orders, Silver King."
Silver King's mental state was indeed problematic, his mood swinging from bright to dark and back again, very unstable.
Silver King asked, "How confident are you in treating my condition?"
Elizabeth retorted, "We're not on equal footing, so how can I be confident? Not even a little."
Silver King chuckled, "I didn't know that Emily, who is always so meticulous, had a student like you who doesn't play by the rules. Interesting! I'm more and more inclined to keep you here."
Elizabeth's eyes widened, her beautiful eyebrows furrowing, "Silver King!"
Silver King stood up, "Tell me your terms, my hostage."
Elizabeth thought for a moment and then said seriously, "I want you to immediately send someone to take Louis back to Celestria. I believe that being kidnapped by you has caused him great physical and mental harm. When he wakes up, he will want to see his fellow countrymen, not Valorians."
Silver King didn't respond to her request but instead asked an unrelated question, "You know Michael, right?"
Elizabeth was momentarily stunned, not understanding why Silver King was asking this, "Why do you ask? Does it have anything to do with treating you?"
Silver King replied, "My people found out that right after you got here, Michael followed and moved into your old house in Valoria."
Elizabeth was shocked. Michael came to Valoria? Why? To rescue her? Was he really that kind-hearted?
Oh right, she was carrying his child. He must be worried about his child.
Elizabeth's heart sank.
This place was almost completely isolated from the outside world. How could he rescue her? She couldn't even contact the outside world.
She didn't answer Silver King's question about Michael and continued to press, "Do you agree?"
Silver King said, "I told you, Michael is here. You can have him take Louis back to Celestria. That way, you don't have to worry about me pulling any tricks on the way, right?"
So that's why he mentioned Michael?
Elizabeth asked back, "Aren't you afraid I'll run away with him?"
Silver King replied seriously, "I trust you."
Elizabeth was puzzled by his sudden cooperation. Silver King then flashed his usual smile, "Think about your adorable twins."
Elizabeth was furious, "You!"
Silver King quickly reassured her, "I didn't say I would do anything to them. Why are you so angry? What I mean is, your strength is insignificant to me. What I value is your medical skill."
Elizabeth thought for a moment and realized he was right. She responded, "Alright, I'll do my best."
Silver King said, "You should think of it this way: I'm willing to entrust my life to you. That shows how much I trust you."
Elizabeth pondered his words. It was true.
After all, to completely cure his condition, surgery might be necessary. At that time, Silver King would be under general anesthesia, completely at her mercy. If she wanted him to die on the operating table, it wouldn't be impossible.
Of course, as a doctor, she wouldn't do that.
Silver King made an inviting gesture, "Alright, Dr. Jones, let's discuss the terms."
Elizabeth asked, "I have another question. If surgery is really needed, would you trust me to operate on your brain?"
Silver King laughed again, "Ms. Jones, you know I have countless wealth, like a mountain of gold. How could I not have personal doctors? They all rely on me for their high-paying jobs. If I die, they lose their jobs. Do you think they would let you get away with it?"
Elizabeth nodded, understanding, "So, during the surgery, you'll have them watch me to prevent me from harming you?"
Silver King replied, "No need to put it so harshly. I have several neurosurgeons here. They can assist you and provide help. After all, you can't perform a brain surgery alone."
Elizabeth thought to herself, 'You know quite a bit.'
Silver King said, "Alright, have you finished your questions? Now let's talk about your reward."
Elizabeth was a bit surprised, "I get a reward?"
Silver King said, "If you successfully treat me and solve my long-standing problem, you'll be my hero. Why wouldn't I reward you?"
Elizabeth murmured, "Is that something a hostage should think about?"
Silver King laughed again, "Tell me what reward you want. How much money do you want?"
Elizabeth replied seriously, "Although the surgery hasn't started yet, I haven't thought about money. But there is something I need your help with."
Silver King responded calmly, "Go ahead."
Elizabeth said, "Louis was brought to Valoria by you because someone in Celestria helped you, right? I want to know who that person is and why they hate Louis so much."
