Chapter 552 Child
'The Murphy family's heiress? Cordelia?'
'She went to the second-floor clinic? Isn't the second floor for infertility treatments?'
'Could it be that Cordelia is infertile? How is she supposed to have Michael's child then?'
Glenn had heard from Elizabeth's bodyguard that Gerald was pressuring Michael to have a child with Cordelia, otherwise he wouldn't let Elizabeth leave Majestic City smoothly.
Glenn put the medical records back on the cart and said to his colleague, "I'll be back in a bit."
He headed to the second-floor clinic.
As a doctor, he couldn't eavesdrop on patients' privacy. He stood at the hallway exit, waiting for Cordelia.
Cordelia came out soon after.
Glenn wasn't entirely sure, as he didn't know Cordelia personally. He was just guessing that the glamorous and doll-like girl in front of him was Cordelia.
Today, for Elizabeth's sake, he planned to do something bold.
Glenn approached her and asked quietly, "Excuse me, are you Ms. Murphy?"
Cordelia was startled and looked around to confirm Glenn was talking to her. She pointed at herself and asked, "Are you talking to me?"
Glenn nodded, "Yes. I've heard the Murphy family's heiress is particularly beautiful, I don't think I could be mistaken."
Cordelia looked wary, "Are you a doctor here? Sorry, I'm already married."
She quickly walked towards the exit, pulling out her phone to call her bodyguards.
Glenn kept pace with her, "Ms. Murphy, I think you misunderstood me. I'm here to discuss something with you."
Cordelia was already on the phone, "Come to the second floor, quickly."
She turned sharply and said coldly, "My bodyguards will be here soon. If you know what's good for you, you'd better stay away from me."
Glenn persisted, "Ms. Murphy, I'm Elizabeth's classmate. My name is Glenn, I'm a doctor here."
Cordelia's expression changed upon hearing Elizabeth's name, and she began to scrutinize Glenn.
"You're here because of Elizabeth? What does she want? Let me warn you, if you're trying to get me to leave Michael, that's not happening!"
Glenn quickly waved his hands, "No, no, this has nothing to do with Michael. Well, it sort of does."
Cordelia frowned impatiently, "What exactly are you trying to say? You have one minute."
The bodyguards arrived, surrounding Cordelia and glaring at Glenn.
Cordelia waved them off, "Let's hear what he has to say."
Glenn was a bit nervous, "Ms. Murphy, can we talk privately?"
Cordelia signaled her bodyguards to stay put and followed Glenn into an empty consultation room.
"Speak, you have one minute."
"Ms. Murphy, I know your father is pressuring you to have Michael's child, right?"
Cordelia frowned at him, "Elizabeth told you even that? You two must be really close!"
"Ms. Murphy, that's not the point."
"Then what is the point?"
"How do you plan to have Michael's child? He probably won't even touch you, right? He has emotional issues."
Cordelia's eyebrows shot up as she stood, "Who are you? Why are you prying into our secrets?"
Glenn had lost his initial nervousness. "This isn't a secret. He has depression and schizophrenia. His emotions are unstable. This is well-known, it's been in the news. Ms. Murphy, don't you know?"
Cordelia calmed down. "Of course I know. I've known him for many years."
"Then you should also know he has emotional issues, right?"
"He'll eventually fall for me."
"Ms. Murphy, how long is 'eventually'? Will your father wait forever?"
"What exactly are you trying to say? Just get to the point."
On his way here, Glenn had already conceived a bold idea.
"Ms. Murphy, if I'm not mistaken, Michael has probably told you he can't have a sexual reaction to you, right? If that's the case, how do you plan to have a child?"
Cordelia sighed. "That's why I'm seeing a doctor."
Glenn probed, "Are you considering IVF?"
"I've looked into it. The process is too complicated and it might not succeed the first time."
"Yes, and it's very unfriendly to women, quite painful."
Cordelia winced at the mention of pain.
"Ms. Murphy, if I could offer you a quick way to have Michael's child, but the child wouldn't be biologically yours, would you be interested?"
Cordelia was confused by his words.
"What do you mean? The child would come from my womb, but I wouldn't be the biological mother, is that what you mean?"
Glenn nodded. "You could understand it that way."
Cordelia laughed bitterly. "Is Elizabeth pregnant again? With Michael's child?"
Glenn felt a bit awkward. "Yes."
Cordelia shouted angrily, "Do you think I'm a surrogate tool? This is outrageous!"
Glenn didn't give up. "Don't you want Elizabeth to leave Michael's side as soon as possible? Your father wants to use Elizabeth to control Michael. If you agree to this, I'll make sure Elizabeth leaves Majestic City quickly."
Glenn had weighed the options. Elizabeth couldn't risk being pregnant, it would endanger her life.
But he couldn't be the one to terminate her pregnancy.
The best solution was to transfer her baby to a safe place where it could grow healthily.
Cordelia was the perfect host.
Glenn finished speaking and quietly watched Cordelia, waiting for her response.
Cordelia was stunned by Glenn's proposal. She knew deep down that Michael wouldn't fall for her anytime soon.
Even if he forgot Elizabeth mentally, his body still craved her. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made love to Elizabeth on the Murphy family's yacht on their wedding day.
Transferring Elizabeth's baby into her womb would fulfill Gerald's current demand for her to have Michael's child.
As for whether the child was biologically hers, once the baby was born from her womb, no one would question her motherhood.
She would love the child dearly and give him all her affection. If Michael knew it was his child, he would surely love him too.
By then, Elizabeth would be far from their lives, no longer disrupting her marriage with Michael.
Without seeing Elizabeth, Michael would gradually forget their past.
Maybe Michael would eventually accept her and fall in love with her through their daily interactions and raising the child together.
If that happened, would her childhood dream finally come true?
