Chapter 145 She Wants to Meet Elizabeth

At the entrance of Global Horizons International School, Elizabeth ran into someone she didn't expect - Calla, who was all dolled up today.

It was obvious Calla had gone all out with her look.

Elizabeth thought, 'It's too bad Michael doesn't like her. No matter how she dresses, it won't change a thing. Michael's just a jerk.'

Calla was holding a cake, waiting at the entrance.

As soon as she saw Michael come out, she smiled and walked up to him. "Michael."

Michael didn't expect Calla to show up at the school looking for him.

He instinctively glanced at Elizabeth to see her reaction.

Elizabeth, with a blank expression, held Nolan's hand and headed towards her Range Rover.

Calla noticed Michael's gaze.

Following his line of sight, she saw Elizabeth holding Nolan's hand.

Calla squinted, remembering her.

Back at that coffee shop, she had seen Elizabeth in the crowd. It was just a fleeting glance.

She had known about Elizabeth for a while.

Back then, abroad, Emily's research project was in its final critical stage.

She picked a few students as core team members, including Elizabeth.

Calla, however, wasn't chosen.

At that time, Calla had already seen Elizabeth's photo.

She had also heard about her achievements, but she didn't expect Michael would still be in touch with her.

Could it be that the two of them still want to be together?

Calla would never let that happen.

She clung to Michael's arm, deliberately blocking his view of Elizabeth. "Michael, since you don't have time to go to the restaurant, let's go home and eat the cake. We can bring Eloise along."

Michael didn't respond and they went back to the Thomas Villa. Upon arrival, Michael went upstairs to take Eloise back to her room.

Calla placed the cake on the coffee table in the living room.

Susan saw it and asked, "Is today your birthday?"

Calla smiled, "Yep, it is."

Susan said sincerely, "Happy birthday! It's a shame I didn't prepare anything. I should have made a meal for you."

Calla said, "Susan, it's okay. I've already eaten out."

After hesitating for a moment, she asked Susan, "Susan, does Michael and his ex-wife have a son?"

Susan was surprised and waved her hand. "Dr. Griffin, where did you hear that? Mr. Thomas doesn't like kids. How could he have a son?"

Calla said casually, "I saw his ex-wife outside today with a little boy. The boy called her mom. I thought he was Michael's child."

Susan said, "No way. He doesn't have kids. Back then, Mrs. Thomas was pregnant, but Mr. Thomas forced her to go to the hospital for an abortion. Mr. Thomas dislikes kids. Dr. Griffin, you better not bring up this topic in front of him."

Calla felt relieved. She thought, "It seems that the child is someone else's, not Michael's. As long as they don't use the child as an excuse to keep in frequent contact, my relationship with Michael will never be severed."

Elizabeth was driving, taking Nolan home.

Nolan suddenly asked her, "Mom, is that man my dad?"

Elizabeth was shocked and glanced at Nolan. "How do you know?"

Nolan replied, "He looks a lot like me. And, Mom, every time you see him, you get nervous."

Elizabeth asked, "Do I?"

Nolan didn't answer her. "Mom, is he scary? Do you hate him?"

Elizabeth said, "Nolan, he hates kids. So, I can't let him know about you and Pearl. Back when I was pregnant with you and Pearl, he said if I had you, he'd strangle you on the spot. I was terrified he'd actually do it."

Nolan said, "Okay, Mom, I get it. That's why you lied and said I was adopted. I know you did it to protect me and Pearl."

The car stopped at a red light. "Nolan, thank you for understanding."

The next day, Nolan sat in the classroom at school.

The paternity test results were out. Anthony wasn't his biological father.

Nolan looked at the paternity test report; it didn't matter anymore.

Because Elizabeth had already told him that Michael was his real dad.

He put the paternity test report in his backpack and opened his computer to look up info about Michael.

But since the last time he hacked into Stellar Enterprises' system and caused a network crash, Michael had hired a computer expert to beef up the company's firewall.

Nolan tried several times but couldn't get into their internal network.

So, he had to give up.

Now that he knew Michael was his biological father, it made him dislike Michael and Eloise even more.

From Michael's attitude towards Eloise, it was clear that even before he and Elizabeth divorced, he had already treated Eloise well.

Even in front of him and Elizabeth, Michael didn't hide his care for Eloise.

Michael didn't care about Elizabeth's feelings at all.

Before their marriage ended, Elizabeth must have suffered a lot.

Nolan thought, 'Michael is truly a bad man. I would never acknowledge someone like him as my father. I would work hard to grow strong and protect Pearl and Mom.'

After learning that Nolan was not Michael and Elizabeth's child, Calla felt relieved but still a bit uneasy.

She had heard from Margaret that Michael rarely got close to women. And Elizabeth, who could maintain a four-year marriage with him, was definitely not simple.

On her birthday night, Michael said he stayed at Global Horizons International School because of Eloise and didn't go to her birthday party.

She thought this was just an excuse. The real reason he didn't go might be related to Elizabeth, so she decided to confront Elizabeth to regain her dignity.

Calla had the bodyguard take her to the Jones Group building.

In the president's office of the Jones Group, Elizabeth was sitting at her desk, reviewing the financial report sent by the CFO for this month.

The receptionist called her, "Ms. Jones, there's a Dr. Griffin here to see you, says she's your schoolmate."

Elizabeth hesitated for a moment.

A schoolmate, could it be Calla?

Elizabeth said, "Let her come up."

Just after saying that, she immediately changed her mind. "Wait a moment."

It was almost the end of the workday.

Elizabeth didn't want Calla entering her private space and didn't want to receive her in the office.

So Elizabeth told the receptionist, "Have her wait for me on the first floor."

Then she hung up the phone.

She went downstairs. As soon as she stepped out of the elevator, she saw Calla sitting on the sofa in the first-floor lobby.

As Elizabeth approached, Calla rose from the sofa, offering her a dignified smile. "Ms. Jones, hello. I'm Calla," she said.
