Chapter 351 Something's Wrong
Now, he wanted to find a chance to make things right. So, when he heard Michael say that, he immediately pledged his loyalty.
"Mr. Thomas, I'm here for you. I'll take care of everything tonight. Just call me if you need anything."
Michael didn't bother with formalities and turned over to continue sleeping.
The powerful effects of the aphrodisiac had tormented him, and after a cold shower and a stomach pump at the hospital, he was utterly exhausted.
Daniel heard his steady breathing and knew he had fallen asleep.
Daniel had been through a lot tonight and was still feeling restless, unable to sleep.
He sat on the nearby cot, leaning against the headboard, and texted Dean: [My boss is asleep.]
Dean: [Then you should sleep too.]
Daniel: [I can't sleep.]
Dean, curious, typed back: [Did something bad? Feeling guilty?]
Daniel, seemingly hit the mark, replied angrily: [Dean!]
Dean, sensing Daniel was probably upset, responded: [I'm here, I'm here.]
Daniel thought for a moment and replied: [Actually, I do feel a bit guilty. I shouldn't have left him alone tonight.]
Dean teased: [What did you go out for? Sneaking off to meet someone?]
Daniel, annoyed, replied: [Dean! If you keep this up, I'm not talking to you anymore!]
Dean chuckled and typed back: [Okay, I won't tease you. What happened after you left?]
Daniel hesitated before typing: [Mr. Thomas was affected by the drug and tried to cool off in the shower. Then...]
Dean immediately replied: [Did a woman walk in?]
Daniel's eyes widened, asking: [How did you know? Are you a detective?]
Dean, a bit exasperated, said: [If you think about it, the person who drugged him was waiting for the drug to take effect. Otherwise, why drug him? Daniel, sometimes I wonder if Michael was serious about hiring you as his assistant. How did you pass the interview?]
Daniel didn't reply for a while.
Dean started to worry. 'This guy is really sensitive. Is he upset again? Should I try to cheer him up?'
Daniel was actually deep in thought.
Dean was right. The person who drugged Michael would have been watching for his reaction and then found a way to get him alone.
Daniel clenched his fist. Yes, that call to move the car was suspicious. The driver had parked correctly, so why ask him to move it? And why call him instead of the driver?
When he rushed to find the driver, he realized he could have just called.
He had been too flustered.
Dean was right. He wasn't a competent assistant. In an emergency, he was clumsy and panicked.
Maybe, once Michael recovered, he should find a more capable assistant. Someone who could stay calm and handle situations wisely.
Daniel hung his head, deeply remorseful.
The reason Margaret was able to take advantage of the situation was because she knew him well enough.
The person who drugged Michael had to be her! She was clearly prepared, even booking the room in advance.
If, as Michael said, Aiden drugged him for his sister, then why hadn't they seen Aiden's sister, Nova Ramirez, all night?
In other words, if the Ramirez family invited Michael to the party and then drugged him, wouldn't that be too foolish?
Once Michael figured it out, the Ramirez family would have no place in Aurora Bay.
Daniel was increasingly convinced: Margaret was definitely involved!
He texted Dean: [I think Margaret did it.]
Dean: [Looks like you've figured it out.]
Daniel: [Thanks for the reminder. I'm really not that smart.]
Dean, sensing Daniel's dejection, quickly reassured him: [Daniel, don't be so hard on yourself. I was just teasing you. You became the special assistant to the president of Stellar Enterprises on your own merits, which means Michael recognizes your abilities! His standards are high, and no one can slack off under his watch. Stellar Enterprises' success is partly thanks to you!]
Daniel felt a bit better: [Good thing you're here to comfort me. Otherwise...]
Dean quickly replied: [Otherwise what? How would you punish me?]
Daniel sent a cold snort emoji.
Dean teased: [Don't just snort. If you do that, I'll think you have other ideas about me.]
Daniel blushed and typed back: [You pervert!]
Dean: [I surrender! I wasn't thinking anything! How am I a pervert? By the way, tell me, how would you punish me? Tie my hands with a tie? Or my feet with a belt? Or do you have other ideas?]
Daniel's face turned completely red: [I'm not talking to you anymore. Go to sleep.]
Luckily, the room was dimly lit, so no one saw his face.
He sent the message, then tossed his phone aside and lay down, facing Michael.
On the other side, Dean locked his screen, deep in thought.
Margaret was really bold, daring to drug Michael. This move was risky.
Wasn't she afraid of Michael's revenge?
Or was she sure Michael had feelings for her and did this to confirm it?
If she dared to take such a risk, she either had full confidence or had a plan.
She knew Michael loved Elizabeth. How could she dare to throw herself at him?
Was she planning to deal with Elizabeth?
Or had she already done something to Elizabeth?
Thinking of this, Dean suddenly stood up.
The villa was unusually quiet tonight. Pearl and Nolan were out. The housekeeper had gone home.
Elizabeth said she was attending a party tonight. At his insistence, she took bodyguards with her.
Whose party was she attending? Could it be the Ramirez family's?
Usually, when she got home, she would be busy downstairs. Even if there was nothing to do, she would watch TV or find something to eat.
Tonight was different. He heard her come home, but the house soon fell silent.
Did she go to bed so early?
Could she have attended the Ramirez family's party? Did she meet Michael and Margaret there?
Did they say or do anything to her?
Something's definitely off.
