Chapter 397 Is It a Coincidence?

Dean finished talking and gave Daniel's wrist a gentle squeeze under the table.

Daniel pretended to be mad and shot him a glare.

Dean raised his glass to hide his face, chuckling softly.

Matthew took a sip of his drink and kept swirling his glass. "Michael went to Luminous City to handle some personal stuff."

Elizabeth's ears perked up at the mention of Michael going to Luminous City. She immediately thought of Anthony.

Anthony had once dated Calla and had been seen in Luminous City. He even had a company there.

Could it be that Michael was going to clean house?

Matthew clarified, "Michael went to deal with some family troublemakers. He'll be back soon."

Daniel frowned. "Family troublemakers? Anthony? Why now, of all times, when Francis is just getting out of the hospital?"

Dean smirked. "He's doing it on purpose. He doesn't want to see adorable Francis."

Daniel quickly defended Michael. "I was just speaking off the cuff. Mr. Thomas would never think that way. He loves Francis dearly."

Dean put an arm around Daniel's shoulders and brought his glass to Daniel's lips. "Let's not talk about your gloomy boss on a happy day."

David walked over, looking dejected. "Elizabeth, have you heard from Sarah lately?"

Elizabeth couldn't bear to refuse him. "Sarah went abroad with her parents. She won't be back for a while. She's applied to schools overseas."

David's face fell even more. "So, she's really decided she doesn't want to see me."

Elizabeth tried to comfort him. "David, Sarah is struggling to get past this. Give her some time to heal her wounds, both physical and emotional. She'll come around eventually."

David swallowed a bitter sip of his drink. "I'll wait for her."

Elizabeth patted his shoulder. "Even if Sarah can't be with you in the future, she would still want you to find happiness."

Tears welled up in David's eyes. "Without her, I don't know what I'm fighting for."

Elizabeth reassured him. "David, there's more to life than love. There are many things worth your attention."

David shook his head, holding back tears, and smiled weakly. "Thank you for comforting me, Elizabeth. But my mind is made up. I'll handle things with my parents."

After the guests left, the chef and Susan cleaned up, and Elizabeth went to her room to take care of Francis.

Pearl and Nolan were already asleep. Francis had his formula and was still sleeping.

Elizabeth checked the time. Francis would be waking up soon.

She decided to stay up and casually flipped through her medical notes on her desk.

She came across a case file. It was from a patient she had taken over after treating the Silver King in Valoria.

At that time, she was pregnant and physically unable to immediately develop a treatment plan for the patient.

Now, with no work and Francis always sleeping, she finally had time to study the case.

She opened the patient's basic information and saw that the patient was the same age as Michael and Eloise.

She turned to the patient's photo and was shocked again: the person looked just like Eloise.

Even their blood type was the same—Rh-negative O.

Elizabeth fell into deep thought. The same age, the same symptoms, the same blood type, similar appearance—could this really be just a coincidence?

With Eloise's fate uncertain, Elizabeth was eager to go to Valoria and meet this patient to find out the truth.

As Christmas approached, Nolan and Pearl were already on break.

That evening, Elizabeth held a family meeting to discuss their plans.

Carter had already asked Elizabeth and Pearl if he could take Pearl to participate in a TV show during the break.

Pearl was excited about the idea of being on the show with Carter again. Seeing her so happy, Elizabeth couldn't refuse.

So, Pearl's winter break would be spent with the TV crew.

Nolan had his own plans for the break.

Elizabeth said she would take Francis to Valoria.

Dean chose to stay behind to look after Nolan and manage the company.

They all agreed to spend Christmas together in Valoria.

Elizabeth was eager to go to Valoria for two reasons.

First, she didn't want to make things difficult for Michael. He was avoiding Francis because of Eloise. Though she didn't say it, it hurt her.

Francis was his son. He had promised to take care of him, but now he was ignoring him.

The other reason was to meet the patient named Quinn Reed. She needed to know if he had any connection to Eloise.

Susan insisted on going with her when she heard about the trip.

"Elizabeth, you haven't been to Valoria in a while. It won't be easy managing Francis alone, even with a nanny. Besides, I know how you like your meals."

Elizabeth agreed.

She quickly booked plane tickets for herself, Francis, Susan, and the bodyguards.

Before they left, Elizabeth received a call from Clio.

"Ms. Jones, could you come see Mr. Thomas? I think something's wrong with him."

Elizabeth was packing and paused. Michael's mood had been unstable lately; didn't everyone already know that? What could be wrong now?

"Clio, isn't he in Luminous City?"

"Mr. Thomas came back a while ago. He hasn't eaten all day. I left food on the table, but he hasn't touched it."

"Maybe he's just not hungry."

Clio's voice sounded like she was about to cry. "Ms. Jones, could you bring Francis to see Mr. Thomas? I'm worried about him. He's been so quiet in his room."

Elizabeth felt conflicted. "He might not want to see me and Francis. He hates us."

"Ms. Jones, don't say that. Mr. Thomas is in pain. He needs an outlet but refuses to see a therapist. I'm really worried about his health. With Eloise gone, if something happens to Mr. Thomas..."

Clio started to cry softly. She had cared for Michael and Eloise since they were young and saw them as her own children. She couldn't bear to watch Michael give up on himself.

Elizabeth decided to visit the Thomas family estate. She was about to leave the country and wouldn't see Michael for a while. He should see Francis.

After all, Francis was his child.

No matter how much he hated her or Louis, he couldn't possibly hate Francis, could he?
