Chapter 174 There Was Only a Door Panel between Them

Daniel said, "Mr. Thomas, Elizabeth still hasn't shown up. Dean's been hanging around the entrance to the banquet hall, clearly waiting for her."

"She's the host and still hasn't made an appearance? What time is it?" Michael was a bit worried. Could something have happened to her?

Daniel reassured him, "Don't worry, I'll keep an eye out. As soon as she shows up, I'll let you know right away."

After hanging up, Daniel immediately called Dean. He could sense Michael's disappointment over not getting an invite from Elizabeth during their call.

Daniel thought, this was all Dean's fault. Their grudge had dragged the innocent Michael into it, and Daniel felt deeply sorry for him.

When the call connected, Dean's familiar voice came through, "Who's this?"

Daniel stood by the window, staring intently at Dean. "It's me."

He didn't say his name, but Dean recognized his voice instantly. Since their last unpleasant encounter at Stellar Enterprises, they hadn't been in touch. Now, hearing each other's voices stirred up emotions.

Daniel watched Dean pacing back and forth at the entrance of the hall. Dean shouted into the phone, "Daniel! You still dare to call me? Didn't we agree never to contact each other again? What else do you want to deceive me about?"

Dean's face no longer had its usual sunny expression. Even from a distance, Daniel could feel the tremor in Dean's voice.

But he still coldly said into the phone, "If it weren't for Michael, do you think I'd contact you again? Don't think you're that important."

After saying this, Daniel raised his hand to cover his chest. He didn't know why he felt this inexplicable heartache. He watched Dean on the first floor, who made the same gesture.

Hearing Daniel's words, Dean leaned against the pillar at the entrance, covering his chest with his right hand.

Dean's cold voice came through, "Is Michael the only one in your heart? What grievance has Michael suffered that you need to stand up for him?"

Daniel looked at Dean's figure, "I can understand she didn't invite me to Elizabeth's birthday party, but why not invite Michael?"

Dean let out a cold laugh. "Daniel, are you playing dumb? Elizabeth and Michael have been divorced for a long time, and he has a new girlfriend. Not only does he have a girlfriend, Calla, but he's also keeping a mentally challenged woman, Eloise, in his villa. Are you seriously unaware of this? Do you want me to invite him? For what? If he brings Calla, to make Elizabeth uncomfortable? Today is her birthday, and I just want her to be happy. I don't want anyone irrelevant ruining her mood."

Daniel was at a loss for words because, deep down, he knew Dean had a point.

He suddenly shouted hoarsely, "I don't care about any of this. I don't even know why. I just really want to punch you right now."

Dean's laughter came through the phone, unclear if it was out of amusement or frustration. "Daniel, what a coincidence, I want to punch you too!"

Daniel stood by the window, watching Dean with his right hand on his hip. He shouted into the phone, "Dean, look up, look at the second floor."

Dean, seemingly in disbelief, looked up and saw Daniel standing behind the glass. His eyes widened, and he shouted into the phone, "Daniel! You wait right there! If you have the guts, don't run!"

Dean hung up, put away his phone, and started running up to the second floor.

Daniel watched as Dean ran up the escalator. He turned around, pressing his right hand against his chest, feeling his heartbeat race.

Daniel's eyes widened, unable to believe what he had just said. He looked at the already disconnected call, his heart pounding.

Footsteps echoed in the hallway; it had to be Dean. Daniel didn't know what was happening to him; his actions were completely out of his control. He had invited Dean up for a fight. Now that Dean was coming, he wanted to flee. He wasn't afraid of Dean hitting him; he was afraid of being close to Dean. Afraid that once he touched Dean's familiar body, he would do something he would regret.

He opened the door to the lounge, locked it behind him, and sat on the floor, gasping for air.

Dean had already burst into the Cozy Banquet Room. He looked around the empty room. Then, he walked to the door of the lounge and started banging on it. "Daniel, open the door! I know you're in there! Open the door! Weren't you going to punch me? Come out then! You had the guts to challenge me, but now you don't have the courage to face me?"

Daniel closed his eyes, leaning his head against the door, remaining silent. After shouting, Dean seemed to lose all his strength. He also sat down, leaning against the door of the lounge. At this moment, the two of them were separated by just a thin door.

In the presidential suite, Michael was still anxiously waiting for news from Daniel.

Could it be that Elizabeth still hadn't shown up? Did she forget it was her birthday? But Dean would remind her. It was already so late, and she, being the main character, still hadn't appeared. Wouldn't that be considered a bit rude? Although Elizabeth usually didn't care about such things, this was her first public appearance in Aurora Bay. She wouldn't just not show up; something must have happened to her.

Michael decided not to wait any longer. He got dressed, left the room, and took the elevator straight to the first floor.

At the entrance of Emerald Hall, Michael didn't see Dean, only Sarah. He frowned and walked over to Sarah. "Where's Dean? Where did he go?"

Sarah didn't want to talk to him. It was because of him that David couldn't attend Elizabeth's birthday party. She replied curtly, "Dean just took a call, seemed a bit angry, and then I don't know where he went."
