Chapter 147 Is She Jealous?

Calla felt a bit uneasy, trying to figure out what Elizabeth really meant.

Was Elizabeth hinting that she thought Eloise's surgery wasn't done by Calla? But she had no proof. Maybe she was just making a random comment.

What were the odds she'd be at Harmony Health Hospital that day?

And even if she was, what were the chances she'd see Eloise?

Eloise was in a special operating room, off-limits to the public.

Thinking this, Calla felt more confident. "Michael and I are just enjoying dating right now. No wedding plans yet."

Elizabeth looked genuinely worried. "No wedding plans yet? You're not getting any younger. Stop messing around and tie the knot. The sooner you do, the sooner you stop causing trouble for others."

Just as Calla was about to get angry at Elizabeth's blunt words, the waiter arrived with their food and drinks.

Calla's eyes landed on the steaming hot cocoa.

She suddenly smiled sweetly at Elizabeth. "Ms. Jones, lemon water is pretty bland. How about you try this hot cocoa?"

She picked up the hot cocoa and handed it to Elizabeth.

Who would want a hot drink on a scorching day?

"I don't want it. You ordered it, you drink it." Elizabeth instinctively waved her hand.

The cup of hot cocoa was very full, and the scalding liquid spilled onto Calla's hand. She screamed and jumped up.

Her hand reached for the table, only to touch the spilled hot cocoa on the table. She got burned again and screamed.

The bodyguards outside rushed in.

Elizabeth, sitting across from her, was stunned by the sudden chaos.

The bodyguards escorted Calla out of the restaurant.

Elizabeth lost her appetite, took a sip of lemon water, paid the bill, and left. She sat in her car, leaning back in her seat, not driving off right away.

She was waiting for Michael's call.

Calla's hand was burned. Even though she'd burned herself, if she told Michael that Elizabeth had intentionally hurt her, he'd definitely believe her.

After all, it seemed like Calla was really hung up on Elizabeth and Michael's past relationship.

Now, with such a perfect opportunity, she'd make a big deal out of it.

Elizabeth suspected this was Calla's real reason for meeting her today.

At Moonlit Grove, the bodyguards and driver took Calla back.

Calla went into the living room and told the bodyguards not to follow her in.

She went to her room and closed the door.

She took out a box of ointment from the drawer and applied it to her burned hand.

She applied it with trembling hands, enduring the pain.

On the way back to the villa, the bodyguard had already called Michael, "Mr. Thomas, Calla's hand is burned."

As soon as he heard that Calla's hand was injured, Michael got anxious. "What happened?"

The bodyguard said, "She went to catch up with Ms. Jones. For some reason, they suddenly had a dispute. Ms. Jones spilled a hot drink on Calla's hand. The drink seemed very hot. Calla's hand is severely burned."

Michael frowned. Why did Calla go see Elizabeth out of the blue?

"Elizabeth spilled the drink on purpose?"

The bodyguard said, "Yes. It couldn't have been Calla intentionally burning her own hand."

But Michael was very certain, "This is not Elizabeth's style. She wouldn't do something like that."

The bodyguard was taken aback. They were already divorced, but Michael still chose to believe Elizabeth. "Mr. Thomas, I'll send you the video of their meeting."

Michael was puzzled. "Video?"

The bodyguard explained, "Yes. Before meeting Ms. Jones, Calla specifically told me to stand outside the café and record a video. She probably wanted to prevent Ms. Jones from harming her. She also has an audio recording."

Michael started to think.

Even though they were both Emily's students, they shouldn't have much interaction. What kind of relationship could they have to catch up on?

Plus, it was Calla who set up the meeting with Elizabeth.

So why did she need to record a video and audio?

Elizabeth probably didn't know about this.

Michael suddenly felt a bit annoyed. "Where are you now?"

The bodyguard replied, "We've left the restaurant. We're at Moonlit Grove now."

Michael said, "Okay. Make sure Calla takes care of her wound."

"Yes, Mr. Thomas."

Michael opened the video recordings.

At first, Elizabeth and Calla seemed to be having a normal conversation.

Later, Elizabeth looked a bit sarcastic.

Calla seemed a bit uncomfortable.

As for the hot cocoa, the video showed that Elizabeth did push Calla.

But if Calla hadn't leaned forward on purpose, Elizabeth wouldn't have reached out.

So, it wasn't entirely Elizabeth's fault.

Michael played the audio recording. "Michael needs someone like you. You two are a perfect match. I wish you an early marriage. Have kids soon. May you be a loving couple forever."

"No wedding plans yet? You're not getting any younger. Stop messing around and tie the knot. The sooner you do, the sooner you stop causing trouble for others."

Hearing these sentences from Elizabeth, Michael got really angry.

He furiously called Elizabeth, "Elizabeth, did you burn Calla's hand?"

As soon as Elizabeth received his call and heard him start questioning her without first understanding the situation, she immediately became furious.

After all, she had been busy at work all day and was about to leave when Calla suddenly showed up and put on this act.

Wasn't Calla just causing her trouble for no reason?

Making trouble out of nothing.

Elizabeth, who had been holding back her anger, suddenly shouted into the phone, "Did Calla tell you that? Did she complain to you? Yes! I burned her! I did it on purpose! Let me tell you, I went easy on her this time! Tell her that if she comes to provoke me again, it won't be just a burn on her hand. She better watch out. Don't come bothering me!"

Michael had intended to blame Elizabeth, but he was taken aback by her outburst. "Elizabeth, I just wanted to know if you did it. Why are you so angry?"

"I said it! I did it! So what? Are you going to avenge her? Then come and hit me." After saying this, Elizabeth angrily hung up the phone.

She threw her phone onto the passenger seat, then angrily opened the car door and got out to take a breath.

Michael held his forehead.

Initially, he was very angry when he heard Elizabeth urging him and Calla to get married. Elizabeth was so averse to him that she wanted him to marry Calla as soon as possible. Did she hate him that much?

But now, hearing her hysterical outburst on the phone. Suddenly, he couldn't muster any anger.

She was so angry.

Was it jealousy?
