Chapter 573 Investment

Elizabeth chuckled softly. "Have you eaten yet?"

"Yeah, I have. I'm just lying in bed, planning to take a nap."

"Is your head feeling better?"

"Nothing serious. I barely feel it today."

"That's good."

"Have you had lunch? Don't skip meals like you used to. It's bad for your stomach."

"I did. Jennifer treated me to some dessert."

Michael was taken aback for a moment. "Did I hear that right? Jennifer? She was nice enough to treat you? She didn't poison it, did she?"

Elizabeth laughed. "She heard I was back and made a point to show off in front of me. She just wanted an opportunity to mock, ridicule, and laugh at me. Oh, and she even mocked you too. I won't let her get away with it. I've decided not to sit back anymore. I'm going to fight to save the Jones Group. I'm going to give it my all and defeat Jennifer."

Michael was silent for a moment.

"Elizabeth, don't think about that right now. Go rest in the lounge for a bit. I'll figure out something for the Jones Group."

"What can you do? You're not even in Aurora Bay. With the Murphy family watching, you can't leave Majestic City."

"Don't worry about that."

Elizabeth didn't know what he planned to do, but hearing his words gave her an inexplicable sense of peace.

"Okay."

After hanging up, Elizabeth took off her jacket and went to the lounge.

When she woke up from her nap and walked out, she found Dean sitting on the couch, looking at his phone.

She yawned. "Dean, when did you get here? I didn't hear you."

Dean handed her a wet wipe. "Wipe the drool off your mouth first. I knocked, but you didn't respond, so I let myself in. When I saw you weren't around, I figured you were napping. I went back and thought you'd be awake by now, so I came back."

Elizabeth took the wet wipe and gently wiped her mouth. "What's up?"

"Matthew from Stellar Enterprises is here. I have him waiting in my office. He insists on seeing you."

When Elizabeth arrived at the CTO's office, Matthew was sitting on the couch with his legs crossed, drinking water.

As soon as he saw Elizabeth and Dean walk in, he slammed the glass down on the coffee table and stood up, clearly displeased. "Ms. Jones, is this how your company treats guests? Especially one who's here to bring you money!"

Elizabeth looked at Dean with a questioning gaze. Dean awkwardly turned his head and scratched his hair.

Elizabeth turned to Matthew and asked apologetically, "Mr. Anderson, did Dean do something to offend you? I apologize on his behalf."

Matthew pointed at the glass on the coffee table. "Look at what your Dean served me! Forget about freshly brewed coffee, he didn't even bother with instant coffee. Has the Jones Group fallen this low?"

Dean stood with his hands on his hips. "Don't think this bottled water is just any water. It's not cheap! I was reluctant to give it to you! You don't stay up late or work overtime, so why do you need coffee? It's bad for your health, don't you know? You're not young anymore; you should take care of yourself!"

Matthew was so angry he couldn't speak. He opened his mouth, raised his hand, and pointed at Dean, but couldn't get any words out.

Seeing the tension, Elizabeth quickly intervened. "Mr. Anderson, please calm down. Have a seat. I'll have someone prepare coffee for you right away. But we only have instant coffee, no freshly brewed. Is that okay?"

Matthew huffed and sat back down, crossing his legs and exhaling heavily. "Fine, I guess I'll just have to settle for water here!"

Dean immediately flared up. "You ungrateful—!"

Elizabeth quickly pulled him back. "Dean! Calm down!"

Dean pouted and sat in his office chair, looking aggrieved.

Elizabeth sat across from Matthew, her posture straight and serious. "Mr. Anderson, are you here for business or personal matters?"

Matthew straightened up as well. "Of course, it's business."

"Since you're here for business, let's get straight to it."

Matthew opened the file he brought. "Alright."

Elizabeth asked, "Did Michael call you?"

Matthew's face darkened. "You guessed it? Michael called me for the first time in ages, and I was so excited! I thought he missed me. Who knew he was just urging me to come help you out! You two really are a pair. He's in trouble himself, yet he's still thinking about you!"

Elizabeth lowered her head. "As you said, it's between us. I'll thank him personally later. Just tell me what he asked you to do."

Matthew got serious. "The Jones Group's current issues are a lack of funds and outdated technology."

Before he could finish, Dean interrupted. "Who says our technology is outdated? Look around Celestria; who has more advanced tech than us?"

Matthew retorted, "FutureTech Robotics Group is ahead of you now, aren't they? Can you honestly say their tech isn't better than yours?"

Dean's face turned red with anger. "They stole our trade secrets! Our core technology! How else could they have advanced so quickly?"

Matthew shot back, "If you knew they stole your tech, why didn't you take precautions? As the CTO, how are you managing your team? Your firewall is so weak! How could you let them breach it so easily? And you still claim your tech is advanced?"

Dean was left speechless and slumped in his chair.

Elizabeth said, "Since Michael called you, he must have told you how to help us, right?"

Matthew nodded. "Michael said that with your consent, STellar Enterprises can invest in the Jones Group. We'll provide substantial financial support. This way, you'll have the resources to compete with FutureTech Robotics Group."

Elizabeth hesitated. "Compete with them? Won't that waste a lot of money?"

Matthew scoffed. "FutureTech Robotics Group is small potatoes to STellar Enterprises. They have a tech team; you can have an even better one."

Elizabeth was uncertain. "FutureTech Robotics Group has already poached the top tech talent in the country and even brought in experts from abroad. Where can we find people more skilled than them?"
