Chapter 473 Give Him Back His Life
William stood up. "Anthony, let's split up. You head over to Michael's place, spend some cash, and hire someone to dig up info on that guy. I'll go see Jesse and see what I can find out."
Anthony looked nervous. "Dad, what if Michael shows up and catches me? He'll kill me!"
William reassured him, "He won't. He and Elizabeth went to Whispering Pines Estates and are busy with wedding preparations. They don't have time for anything else right now."
Anthony still seemed unsure. "Dad, even if we find out that guy is my real uncle and Michael isn't, how does that help us?"
William pulled him closer and whispered, "Back then, your grandmother took money from the Thomas family account to help Michael start his business. His company, STellar Enterprises, took off thanks to the Thomas family's support."
"But now, he's not part of the Thomas family. As a representative of the Thomas family, I can demand that money back. And after all these years, it's a significant amount. If he doesn't want to give me the money, he can give me some shares of STellar Enterprises as interest."
Anthony's eyes lit up at the thought of profit. "Alright, Dad, I'll go right away."
If they got that money, their lives would improve significantly, and they wouldn't have to rent anymore.
William headed to Jesse's place.
He had followed Jesse after he escaped from the warehouse and knew where he lived.
As soon as they met, Jesse started cursing. "William, what the hell are you doing here?"
He hated the Thomas family.
Years ago, he was their driver, and any member of the Thomas family could beat him up. Derek, too, wanted him out of the family, and he had to leave overnight, injured.
Derek was dead now. William was Derek's son. Jesse took out all his hatred for Derek on William.
William didn't expect Jesse to be so hostile. "Jesse, what's wrong? Who beat you up so badly?"
Jesse didn't want to talk to him. "None of your business!"
William persisted. "Didn't you say your son is powerful? With such a strong son, how could you get beaten up like this? Why don't you tell your son to help you get revenge?"
Jesse stood up from the couch and pushed him out. "Get out! Our family matters are none of your business!"
William sneered. "Was it your son who beat you up? Jesse, is Michael your son?"
Jesse's expression froze, and he pushed William out the door. "So what if my son beat me up? It's none of your business! Who my son is has nothing to do with you! Mind your own business!"
With a loud bang, the door slammed shut.
Outside, William frowned. Jesse didn't deny that Michael was his son. He didn't even badmouth Michael in front of him.
It seemed Michael really was Jesse's son.
Inside, Jesse felt a sense of crisis.
How did William know about Michael's identity?
It was one thing for him to blackmail Michael, but what was William planning? Did he want to blackmail Michael too?
No, he had to warn Michael.
In the CEO's office at Stellar Enterprises.
Michael's phone rang. It was an unknown number.
He casually put it on speaker.
Immediately, a voice yelled, "Michael! You bastard! I just asked for a little money! Did you have to beat me up like this?"
Michael frowned. "Jesse? How did you get my number?"
Jesse continued to shout. "Never mind how! I have my ways!"
Michael was impatient. "When did I beat you?"
Jesse sounded like he was jumping up and down. "You beat me and won't admit it? Quinn is hidden by you! What do you want? And now William is looking for me! What are you up to?"
Michael hung up, not wanting to listen to his nonsense.
He called his bodyguard. "Did you beat Jesse?"
"No. He showed up at the mansion a few days ago. I saw a man in black beat him up and drag him away. Since he was gone, I didn't report it."
Michael frowned. "Find out who beat him."
"Yes."
Thinking about Jesse's last words, Michael's eyes turned cold. "Also, keep an eye on William. Those two are up to something."
"Yes."
Michael hung up and decided to check on the mansion. He called Elizabeth to let her know he might not be able to have dinner at her place tonight.
When Michael arrived at the mansion, William was waiting at the door.
"Michael, you're back. I've been waiting for you."
He followed Michael inside.
"Michael, I need to talk to you."
Michael took off his coat. "Talk."
William hesitated. "Michael, is the man in your house my real brother?"
Michael looked at him.
William, avoiding his gaze, stammered, "Michael, I know you're not my real brother. My real brother is hidden in this mansion. Right?"
Michael didn't know how to respond, so he shook his head. "I didn't hide him. He just doesn't want to see strangers."
William got excited. "I'm not a stranger! I'm his real brother!"
Michael looked at him coldly.
William, still avoiding his gaze, said softly, "Michael, don't blame me. You're not part of the Thomas family. Your father was the Thomas family's driver. But my mother raised you as one of us. We don't owe you anything. My mother was kind to you. You can't be ungrateful. Now that I've found my real brother, you should give him back his life."
Michael stared at him. "His life? Give it back?"
William stood up. "Even if you can't give him back his life, at least give him back to me. I'm his real brother, his closest family. He should live with me."
William's eyes kept avoiding Michael's.
Michael stared at him for a long time. Then he said softly, "Clio, bring Quinn out. His real brother is here to see him."
