Chapter 172 The Children's Backgrounds Are Exposed

Calla smirked, "Let's meet at Elegant Eats near your office."

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. "Fine. Better bring some burn ointment this time."

Calla's voice crackled with anger, "Elizabeth! You!"

She was fuming.

Elizabeth snapped back, "Cut the crap and hurry up! I have things to do!"

Calla took a deep breath.

She thought, 'Keep acting tough, Elizabeth. When we meet, I'll show you those hospital records and documents about your childbirth. Let's see if you can still keep that attitude! You'll have no choice but to do what I want.'

Elizabeth was terrified of Michael finding out the truth about the kids. With this secret, Calla knew she had Elizabeth under her thumb.

Calla headed to the restaurant and just settled at the table when Elizabeth walked in.

Calla glanced up and noticed Elizabeth's pale face and tired eyes, clearly showing she hadn't slept well.

Calla's sneer widened as she took in Elizabeth's worn-out appearance. The indifference from the phone call was gone, replaced by obvious exhaustion.

It seemed that Calla's call had completely unsettled her. Elizabeth was now thoroughly agitated and distressed.

Calla placed her bag on the table and looked at Elizabeth smugly.

She crossed her arms. "Elizabeth, you said the kids are adopted? Where are the adoption papers? The proof? Can you show them?"

Calla sneered at the weary Elizabeth. "I had my dad check all the orphanages within 100 miles of Valoria, and there's no record of any adoption by you. Instead, we found your C-section hospital records. They're in my bag. Want to see them?"

She grinned triumphantly at Elizabeth. "Didn't expect that, did you? I found out all about your childbirth in Valoria. Your son and daughter, based on their birth dates, are clearly yours and Michael's!"

Her eyes were cold as she stared at Elizabeth.

The cold smile never left her face. "Why are you hiding the kids' parentage? Normally, being the children of Aurora Bay's richest man, Michael, would be something to be proud of. So why haven't you told Michael about them?"

Calla burst into laughter.

Elizabeth thought Calla was losing it.

Calla said, "Because Michael is different from others. He hates kids, especially his own. If he knew about them, he'd kill them. Isn't that right?"

Her eyes narrowed, and she leaned over the table, arrogantly looking down at Elizabeth.

Elizabeth hadn't slept for over ten hours.

Upon hearing this, her eyes snapped open.

No one could threaten her children. Absolutely no one!

Calla had crossed the line. Elizabeth's gaze turned icy.

Calla was startled by her look.

Elizabeth's voice was as cold as ice. "Calla, I warn you, do not use my children to threaten me. If you harm them, I will never forgive you!"

Calla rolled her eyes and sneered. She thought Elizabeth was being pretentious. "Elizabeth, as long as you promise to stay away from Michael and never bother us again, I'll pretend I never knew this secret and let you off, how about that?"

Elizabeth sneered back. "Calla, if you had spoken reasonably from the start, maybe we could have negotiated. But now, why should I listen to you? I have already stayed away from Michael, but if he comes to me, what does that have to do with me? Can I control him? Or is it that you can't control your own boyfriend?"

Calla trembled with anger. "Elizabeth! You!"

She was too tired to argue. Coldly, she said, "Calla, stop wasting time. Just tell me what you want."

Calla glared at her. "Elizabeth, verbal promises are useless. I don't trust you."

Elizabeth sighed and closed her eyes. "Then what do you want me to do? Write a guarantee, swear an oath?"

Calla stood straight, arms crossed. "No need for that. Just promise that you won't go near Michael again."

Elizabeth mimicked her, crossing her arms and leaning back on the sofa, sneering. "Should I remind Michael to watch you closely next time you perform surgery on Eloise? Let him enjoy watching you operate? I'm really looking forward to that scene. Don't you think?"

Calla was momentarily stunned. "Elizabeth, what do you mean by that?"

Elizabeth laughed. "Dr. Griffin, you know exactly what I'm talking about."

Calla was already fuming. "Speak clearly!"
